No it was just filler.

No, it was a big shiny crab moment.

" Sugar Lumps" would have been a much better song.

I get that reference and I liked both

I'd say the Kakamora were, but not Teratoma here.

>using nostalgia faggot terms

Stop forcing your shitty memes, Melvin

>comes out of nowhere
Kind of, I was not expecting him to sing but there was some sort of build-up to it.

>is way over the top
For a giant bioluminiscent coconut crab with treasure on his back, not really.

>makes no sense
See above.

>has no connection to the plot
It does connect to Maui getting his hook back.

>once it’s over, it's never mentioned again
Well, he got a post-credits scene.

tl;dr: No, it is just fancy filler.

Back to TV Tropes you go.

>Back to TGWTG you go.
Fix'd

it's shiny filler.

This character/song/movie was extremely sub par and cringe as hell

> cringe

how?

He was a trial for the main characters to overcome.

Now those coconut guys. They came out of fucking nowhere and didn't really contribute anything to the plot.

The what?

Just look at him man in Op's pic. The song was trash too. I couldn't even watch it it was so bad.

I dont have anything against Jemaine Clement but his comedy is extremely hit and miss and this whole scene was a complete strikeout, yet on and on it went.

This scene and the killer coconuts were easily the worst parts of the movie.

No, as the song provided backstory for Maui.
The Kakamora, on the other hand, definitely were.

I enjoyed the song, so no, I don't get what you mean.

Well kinda minor things the scene also showed Maui having trouble with his hook for some reason and hinted at his back story and motivation.

Is there a link to the scene?

>Jemaine Clement
>It's fucking Jemaine Clement
>That song
Holy shit, are people seriously complaining about this?
I need to watch this fucking movie now.

The only part that didn't make me want to end my life was the chorus the rest was beyond trash.

>Jemaine Clement
Sucking the dick of a comedian who is extremely hit and miss.

>using nostalgia critic forced meme

oh so now it's about the actor themself?

So I like it when he does hit, what's your fucking damage?

When he did the fucking scene didn't he? his performance here was a reflection of his hit and miss work and this was definitely a miss.

With the sound effects and the interruption by Maui, and the echoing towards the end, it really brings the song down. It's much better on the soundtrack.

>Because his work in this particular film was absolutely a swing and a miss.

I prefer the original demo personally. It fucking oozes Bowie.

And yes the movie is well worth seeing. Its not exactly innovative and some of the humor is just obviously written by some suit in a boardroom but its still a great movie with the best music from any disney musical.

I liked the song, man, no reason to feel threatened by that or anything. Everyone's entitled to an opinion.

Exactly.

Not really; Maui's tattoo of him fighting Tamatoa is prominently shown during "You're Welcome" so there was foreshadowing. Plus he explains Maui's motivations so his song is relevant to the rest of the film.

Hurt feelings would be better
