Kermode reviews Blade Runner 2049

youtube.com/watch?v=ba8OIbWEHQM

he fucking loved it

*crosses arms*

now.....here's the thing

>nolanfag critic likes overlong style over substance pseudo intellectual trash

surprising

he also worships nolan and bent over backwards to show his support for ghostbusters 2016. kermode is dead

I didn't think Kermode was a shill, but saying that the cinematography of 2049 is anywhere near, much less the same as, the ye olde Blade Runner is patently false. This is the type of cancerous fanboyism that I come to except from vloggers etc. At least he's not doing skits for millenials like RLM.

He also conveniently managed to avoid talking about the plot because he could not with a straight face comment on The Revolution story "arc" and Leto Luthor and say that is anything different than Matrix Reloads Superman Evil.

Keep in mind that Kermode basically has a PhD in Blade Runner. The man made an entire documentary about it and how it was done with Ridley Scott.
He knows more about Blade Runner than the entirety of this board.

>saying that the cinematography of 2049 is anywhere near, much less the same as, the ye olde Blade Runner is patently false.
Why?

yet he's still dumb enough to be impressed by nolan films. no accounting for taste i guess

No matter the script, most Nolan films have pretty impressive set pieces and technical achievements, you have to be a pretty flaming delusional contrarian to deny that.

first off, it's digital
second, nearly everything is CGI

now go watch the original movie OR watch Dangerous Days
or both

yes his films are well made on the technical level, but spectacle is no longer impressive. big setpieces and extravagant effects just further highlight weak stories, characters, writing and other fundamentals. "all sound and fury..." etc

>first off, it's digital
Why is that bad, considering the subject? It only makes sense it's filmed in digital when the entire setting is in heavy contrast with the original (the original was dirty, dense, cluttered and filmed mostly at night while this is clean, empty, sterile and mostly filmed in a day) Adding grain and film to that would make no sense.

>second, nearly everything is CGI
You are literally factually wrong. Most of the film is entirely practical, that's where the majority of the budget went to because Villeneuve hates working with green screen or CGI unless he absolutely has to.
And the CGI used (for example Sean Young) is completely seamless and spot on.

You sound like a tourist crossposter casual.

>nearly everything is CGI
sure thing buddy

What are your qualifications for your taste? What's your dissertation in?

that scene was much more incredible than the way the trailers presented it

I took it as K seeing how manipulated he'd been and deciding to take his life into his own hands
I also half-though he might an hero right then and there when he took his gun out

yeah, Gosling did well in presenting the turmoil the character was in

none. yet i'm still not dumb enough to like nolan films. lol

quality cringe post

You aren't educated in the art of film, in analysis or consumption. Come back when you've written your Phd and we'll take your opinion as something worthy of our time.

>t. triggered nolanites

Not even.

>you need a PhD to post on Sup Forums

Obviously not what I was saying, though, was it? I don't have a Phd.

>PhD in Bladerunner

what a fucking achievement....

Now first the runtime, it being so long feels a little baggy and there's a lot baggage that denis and the actors have initially. So the thing is that it's a really good film just feels a little bit baggy

stop trying to meme so hard, who is even talking about Nolan, christ Sup Forums ate your brain

How many PhDs in specific cult films have you got, faggot?

>Everything is CGI
No.

Even when they used cgi for rachel it looked like they were just using a similar actor at best it didnt strike mind it was CGI at all way better than that Tarquin cgi

It revealed why he was called Joe, an average joe. JOI didnt mean any of it. Like the ad said its all for what you want to do and see

we're talking about what kermode likes and he likes nolan. that's why nolan is part of the discussion

You made it part of it because that's your only point of reference, because you don't have the prerequisite knowledge base to look any further.

no, i'm questioning kermode's taste on the grounds that he worships nolan

His taste is validated by his ability to articulate it. You don't seen to understand this, probably because your vernacular extends to "nolanfag" and "boring", and not much further.

>get home after a long day riding around on the subway, staring intensely at cute replicants
>take off my trenchcoat and throw it onto my bedroom floor
>notice how worn the fabric is
>it's covered in rips and chinese food and still reeks of the time I spilled one of my piss jars on it
>pick up the coat and inhale deeply
>remember all the great times I've had wearing this classic trench
>put it back on, one last time
>one final bladerun
>stride mysteriously out of my room
>travel up the corridor
>step into my mother's room to ask her to drive me to the shops so she can buy me another raincoat I can glue cotton balls to
>my mother is on the bed, four fingers plunging furiously in and out of her quivering vagina
>she's shocked but too close to cumming to stop
>about to back out but the trench infuses me with the spirit of the bladerunner
>leap onto the bed and whip out my phimosis encrusted dick
>stab at my mothers engorged labia, ejaculating dark grey semen all over her hand
>collapse on top of her, whimpering "I...I've seen things you normies wouldn't believe... dumb frogposters getting banned off the board of Sup Forums... I watched cp spammed in tomorrow theme during gamergate... all those moments will be lost in time, like dubs in the archive... time to check 'em"
>take the coat off my face
>I'm actually lying in a gutter
>covered in shit and garbage
>my mom kicked me out six months ago due to my NEET lifestyle
>pop the collar on my crusty bladerunner raincoat
>point my fingers to the stars like a gun
>fire the gun and bring my finger to my lips and blow
>"See you, space waifu..."
>tense my bowels as hard as I can and shit diarrhoea down my legs for warmth as I roll over for the night
>it's going to be a long 2049

That's the most shallow way of opinion forming. Say what he said wrong in his review on Blade Runner specifically, not things he liked in the past.

>Even when they used cgi for rachel it looked like they were just using a similar actor

I'm still doubting it even was CGI until I see some behind the scenes footage. If it was then it was fucking amazingly realistic. I honestly thought it was an actress with an uncanny resemblance.
