Backed by glowing reviews and an A- CinemaScore...

>Backed by glowing reviews and an A- CinemaScore, Blade Runner 2049 was poised to best the box office during its opening weekend. While it’s still looking to come out on top, the sequel to Ridley Scott’s 1982 original is falling far below the initial predictions.

People hate the idea of a Blade Runner soft reboot. Especially the hardcore fans the movie is targeted to.
And critics don't have any credibility left so their glowing reviews are meaningless.

>first movie bombed, was a cult classic
>almost every sci-fi film out this year has bombed commercially and critically
>one of the worst offenders, Ghost in the Shell, was a film set in a dystopian cyberpunk future and was about a detective trying to uncover a conspiracy
>6 months later, this movie comes out and I about a detective trying to uncover a conspiracy in a dystopian cyberpunk future

The real question is why ANYONE would have expected this movie to do well at the box office. There is literally nothing on its favor.

Literally the one single fucking problem ruining this movie is Ryan Gosling. Now I'm not happy with soft reboots/remakes in general, I'm tired of this endless cyclical poaching of everything great (or not so great, or even downright terrible) from the 80s/90s. But I can still look past it and enjoy a flick from time to time if it's got anything else going for it. But he is such an infuriatingly wooden irritating non-actor who just dopes his way from scene to scene, I just can't stand watching his blank tryhard corpsemask of a face for longer than ten seconds. Had they cast anyone else this film might have made it.

>>Backed by glowing reviews and an A- CinemaScore

OP still thinks CinemaScore is a big deal after what happened to "mother!".

I love the original, both as a sci-fi and as a neo-noir, yet I still won't pay to go see this. So why should someone who hasn't seen the original (probably the average millennial pleb)?

>sequel to a movie most young people don't give a shit about

Doesn't matter how strong the word of mouth is, of course this was going to fail. I was hoping that the success of Arrival might help, but it clearly isn't.

Normies are subhuman shiteaters and there are 7 billion of them on this planet. Holocaust them all

>GIB DISNEY MARVEL CAPESHIT!
>GIB FAST & FURIOUS!
>THINKGEN MAKES US HEADY HURT HURF DURF!
>GIB US QUIBS

It's a direct sequel you fucks. Don't post if you're retarded. Stay on reddit for that.

Hollywood is dying. The only shit that's gonna make money is comic shit, which is sad. Movies will have to be scaled down from 150+ million bucks back to 50 million if they want profit. This isn't a bad thing either (District 9). But fuck comic movies, they should be the ones burning and crashing.

Most young people didn't give a shit about IT or Jurassic Park either. You can't predict these things anymore. Sometimes these reboots strike gold, most of the time they don't.

>"IDS A DIREG SGUWAL REEEE"
lol who cares it's a piece of shit, doesn't matter if it's a sequel or a reboot doesn't stop it from being garbage

It wouldn't be Blade Runner if it was a runaway hit. Like the original it's basically a big budget art movie rather than typical blockbuster fare.

I just hope this doesn't ruin Villeneuve's chance to do Dune justice. I do believe in him.

Its boring and has no message other than "robots man, am i right?"

The original was shitty too but at least it was an adaptation of Phil K Dick's book and not a vapid sequel.

movies are dead

soon we'll experience a massive exodus to multi-million dollar TV series

Wrong. I'm a huge BR fan and I thought the deckard/rachel/gaff shit dragged the movie down

>boo hoo everyone is wrong except me a bloo bloo bloo

Keep crying bitch nigga

>it's a piece of shit
But it's not, it's the best movie of the year by far

>tv is wrong again

ahahahahaahahahaaha

>it's the best movie of the year by far
BAHAHAHA!!!!!

It was bound to fail in America, since it has no modern day action scenes. I think everyone expected that.

>OP still thinks CinemaScore is a big deal after what happened to "mother!".

he didn't fucking right that you fucking retard

he's right you know

What's so funny

oh no NO NO UHUHUHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHA

>metascore
AHAHAAHAAHA
81 HUH HAHAHAHA
IS THAT HOW MANY DOLLARS IT MADE AHGAHHHAHAHA

>first one was kino
>bombed
>second one is kinoer
>bombs too
There is a reason we call them "plebs" you know

What do you think of all these films? They're the best of 2016

Funny thing is when something bombed in the 80s it was still possible for it to become a cult classic. That doesn't exist anymore. There's too much information overload, the second something is out of the 24 hour cycle, it's gone.

>MUH CHILD
>LAPD wants to kill it to cover up the fact that replicants can have babies, which would cause a replicant revolt
>Wallace wants it to dissect it so he can create billions of replicants to take over the universe.

>K takes Dekkard to her.

What?

There's fucking cameras and drones all over the city which are monitored by the LAPD and Wallace. There's cameras in that building which Wallace has a stake in. The child can't leave the building or she will die. There's a tracer/GPS in K's car. K dies right in front of the fucking building. What will the LAPD or Wallace think is going on when they discover his body? How does Dekkard leave in the car, with tracers/GPS installed?

SO. FUCKING. STUPID.

This. The box office is like the fucking stock market at the moment.

nah

Why do you keep spamming your stupidity in every single BR thread? Are you actually mentally challenged?

You could have not replied at all and saved yourself some embarrassment, but instead you just had to let everyone know you're 1. triggered, but 2. don't have a counterargument. Sad!

It's by far the best movie of the year.

cringe

what about dredd?

you're typing up an awful lot for someone so confident in themselves.

If you think the concept of a cult classic is dead you haven't been paying attention/know nothing. Which makes sense, since you're too busy shitposting on Sup Forums.

I gave you exactly the response you deserved, now here's your last (You)

>three whole lines of reddit spacing
>doing nothing but crying because this shitty film bombed
haha

Yeah it is cringe to pretend you're above normies whilst defending pro-entertainment cinema like the schlock that our french canadian friend shits out. He releases cinematic video games.

Why are Redditors so oversensitive?

MUH SPAM!!!

>IS THAT HOW MANY DOLLARS IT MADE AHGAHHHAHAHA
What? No, it made much more, like millions and shit. This is a movie, user

>literally can't do anything but post a meaningless easily gamed number score from a site for video game playing teenagers
ahahahhhaha

I don't care about some sony movie bombing, but you're still wrong about the concept of a cult classic.

Wow dude, a C+ on "metacritic", truly the greatest movie of the decade! I'm sure that will make up for the devastating amount of revenue it failed to bring in.

No, he's a retard.

For every 1 """"smart"""" film that bombs, a dozen retarded action films and shlocky horror films and mindless RomCom films come out and bomb. 90% of films bomb or barely break even

Korine is shit and he's getting blacklisted as we speak for being a lazy hack with zero (0) good movies to his name

>still wrong about the concept of a cult classic.
You can't even name a single example.

Good and hopefully it leads him to the way of Gus Van and Larry Smith. Now answer the question

Such a cringe post. Seek help.

Pacific Rim

>Yeah it is cringe to pretend you're above normies whilst defending pro-entertainment cinema like the schlock that our french canadian friend shits out.

Bullshit. You know that you're just shitting on it because it's receiving critical acclaim.

If BR2049 was some European film festival picture that was barely noticed by anyone then you'd be singing its praises and calling anyone who didn't like it a pleb.

>Pacific Rim
>cult classic
Ahaha. No.

you're vastly overestimating the taste of the average *breathes in* poster like the guy you're replying to.

>box office is a better metric for quality than selected critics
Wew stop posting anytime

oh my god you're so triggered
a bad movie did poorly by every metric THAT COUNTS and all you can do is harp your shitty videogame site ahahahaha

oh but it is. Cult enough that it couldn't get funding for a sequel without a weeb nigger fronting it in exchange for him being the star. There's plenty more like Spring Breakers and Dredd.

>cult classic
>literally no one cares about it except some diva who wants to boost his ego
Haha, wow. Yeah, no, that's not a "cult classic" kiddo.

>oh my god you're so triggered
Not really, no. Notice that I don't end my post with "hahaha" or other r*ddit memes

Extremely unlikely if everyone that's currently behind it is still behind it.

>this reading comprehension
wew la

sup rebbit

>still posting his videogame site
>can't come up with any sort of defense over his completely failed movie
Ahahahaahaha. I think the most pathetic thing is you're posting capeshit too like anyone gives a shit!

I could come up with plenty of defenses, mainly that no one gives a fuck if it does good or not, especially since the first Blade Runner bombed even harder. But I prefer to just compare it to objectively worse Disney movies recently shilled here, if you don't mind

Posting a 20th metacritic image isn't going to make your shitty videogame site any less irrelevant.

It's not a videogame site though

What kind of people like this film and why?
Serious question, I might want to see it.

This is true. Art is good or it's not. It doesn't matter where it comes from. Shitting on good art simply because it's source of funding is extremely bad as it discourages more of it being made.

There is enough struggle to make good films, it's counterproductive to add even more roadblocks.

/r9k/

it's vaguely thought provoking with blockbuster production values and gorgeous visuals.

Normalfags have shit taste. I'm going to see it again tomorrow.

Fans of the original and it's good because it has great visuals and perfomances, it's slow paced and it has a nice plot. The kind of movie Hollywood doesn't make anymore, and we now we know why

does this mean if I go see it it'll be in an empty theater? cause I'd prefer that

Just came home from the cinema.

Man the movie was SHIT
I kept giving it passes but the ending killed me.
Movie fucked me up

Why is life so shit

Only 10 people in the cinema

I can only tell which people do not like this film: feminists, people with ADHD, niggers, capeshit manbabies, plot-driven casuals and kids in general.

One more thing

I bet Lego ninja would have made my day happier

one of the better Hollywood films I've watched this year was Logan Lucky and its budget was only $30 million

and Sodenbergh financed it in an unconventional way, you can read about it somewhere dunno where

Yeah but being a little bitch about it ruins his argument.

Just point and laugh...we are probably be all dead when the idiocracy hints the worst stages anyway

art house people who think their film is ice cream sundae when it's just shit on an ice cream cone

stephen king and jurassic park have unrivalled popularity. it was obvious they would do well. the internet dismissed jurassic park sequel because of the memes it made but then were proved wrong i could have told you

blade runner never had that kind of popularity

Plebs that watch a handful of films in between their game of thrones and walking dead episodes. Just look at how they can't answer yet think they're above normalfags

Sure it would, considering how much of a pleb you are

Haven't seen this and debating on whether or not its worth a stream. Convince me on why its a good sequel.

The only good movie in that image is La Mort de Louis XIV and we're all cringing everytime you quote yourself, lad

Protip: only "movie buffs" ever cared about Blade Runner

>all the normies who never even see the 1st one keep calling 'epic'
you know how i know it's shit?

Does this film have awkward nudity/sex scenes. Might watch it girl I recently started dating.

...

>Haven't seen this and debating on whether or not its worth a stream.

Just kys if you watch films on streams at all. Utterly embarassing.

sincere art house people don't go out of their way to watch a movie with a questionably bloated budget

Is that the only one you recognize? Was that too after you cropped it and searched it on google?

I feel like Blade Runner 2049 could start a "Batman Begins" type situation where suddenly every studio feels the need to do a soft-reboot/sequel to iconic movies from the 80's and 90's. So i'm glad it's not doing so well, even though it's a great movie.

>all the basement dwelling autists who are afraid to leave their room and didn't even see the film are still preemptively hating on it like they did see it
you know how i know you're pathetic?

Running Man remake when?

and that's why I hate them
not able to go see a film that's good with a budget

>Does this film have awkward nudity/sex scenes
Yes, absolutely. It's pure kino though and completely genuine.

Gosling has a 3 way with Ana de Armas and some other broad

CELLS
