Ridley Scott didn't read the book Blade Runner was based off

>Blade Runner is (loosely) based on Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? by legendary sci-fi author Philip K. Dick. (It’s one of over a dozen movies based on his works.) But Scott didn’t read the book before making the movie: “I actually couldn’t get into it. I met Philip K. Dick later, and he said, ‘I understand you couldn’t read the book.’ And I said, ‘You know you’re so dense, mate, by page 32, there’s about 17 storylines.’”
Are you serious? Dude wants to adapt a book but doesn't even bother reading the source material...

Books are for nerds.

>being a loser virgin nerd who unironically has the patience to hurt his neck and read books

Based Scott
He really doesn't give a fuck

Yeah, no shit.

Anyone who read the book already knows this. Anyone who hasn't read it probably doesn't care.

Further confirmation he is /ourguy/

Ridley is a true master. He can direct a good movie with his eyes closed

And? He didn't write the screenplay or design the sets.
But he directed The Counselor with his eyes closed and it was terrible.

>blind direction
That explains Blade Runner

I couldn't get into Brothers Karamazov for the same reason. Before the story even starts there's a whole story about every fucking character. Annoying shit. No wonder the medium has been superseded by superior ones.

That's a shame, because the book is really good.
But if this is true, it explains a lot on why the book and movie are so far apart.

...

Are you not entertained?

name one director that actually read a book and developed it into a movie. thats what screenwriters are for. besides blade runner isnt even a true adaptation

funny because i enjoyed the book and the movie put me to sleep.

No wonder this retard decided 20 years later that deckard being a replicant would be an ebin twist

Pete Jackson

philip was actually thankful that ridley left out much of the story from the book, since it had some massive plotholes.

Kubrick

the book is a flaming pile of garbage

Change "too many" to "to many"

Andy Muschietti, director of It

>Blade Runner
>Do Androids Dram of Electric Sheep?
What the fuck do they even have to do with each other?
Two separate titles.
Kill yourselves.

Snyder did

>What the fuck do they even have to do with each other?
on is loosely based on the other

The Counselor is one of his best films.

Did bladerunner have anything to do with the book besides the general "go kill robots" plot?

Earth was supposed to be pretty much post-apocalyptic, with everyone following some crazy empathy related television religion.

Based Ridley

This is why Blade Runner is so good

Haven't seen the movie but in the book Deckard is at one point lead to believe he is one but by the end it is pretty conclusively established that he is not.

they left out some new techno religion thats a big part of the book also ridley had to buy rights to a book and some movie treatment both titled bladerunner just to name his movie blade runner

Sure, it's a good thing the director didn't include the plotholes when writing the screenplay.

in the book they arent even called blade runners just bounty hunters

Holy shit how basic are you?

maybe you have a short attention span? Baby cant follow more than one straight line?

All of Dicks books are made just as a steping stone by a movie.

Almost nothing. The message of the book is the exact opposite of the movie. Ridley left out the religion in the book since it's a central part of its theme - why the androids (called replicants in the movie) can't wrap their heads around human empathy.

>(It’s one of over a dozen movies based on his works.)

well, there's "Blade Runner".. "Minority Report"... ""Through a Scanner Darkly"... uh, "The Man in the High Castle"... "Total Recall".. that's five...

Good. Who cares about shitty genre fiction novels by hack sci-fi writers? Scott took the basic premise and made it something interesting.

The book is not worth reading. It adds nothing to the movie.

>literally being too sumb to understand PKD

Shameful.

Lazy bait.

Nope. It's in his top 5 for sure.

He's looking really good for 79, how's he doing it bros?

it still came out good so I dont see the problem
he probably didnt want that shit clouding his mind and fucking with his creativity

IQ

3/10

The book is garbage. First chapter is some stupid argument between Deckard and his wife about which emotions they were going to feel at what times during the day.
Wow, humans are regimented and programmable like robots! So deep.

By not wasting time reading obviously.
