Just look at this smug motherfucker. do you think he's smirking now? $31,525,000! on a $150+ million budget!

I'm sure that's the most important thing to him.

he'll never work in hollywood again

150$ mil for what? Some culty sci-fi flic?
Why are they spending so much money on these films?

They still think people go to theaters

Yes he will you dumb fuck.

He definitely knows how to make a good movie.

on one hand it may prevent him from being able to get stuff done in the future but on the other it's fucking Sony so I can't feel bad for them losing money
they expected it to bring in capeshit levels of dosh for some reason

thats just domestic though

Hopefully this means he doesn't do any more big Hollywood movies and goes back to making shit like Prisoners and Enemy

he should learn how to make a movie that's profitable instead

user the film is out literally for only two days now.
Yes it's not the most financially successful opening ever, but no one even expected grand numbers from an almost 3 hour long R rated visually focused slow burning neo-noir sci fi film that deals with the human condition in todays day and age of degenerate films.

The studio knew he was splashing the cash with extensive set builds. He only agreed to do it if they gave him the budget and they did. I'm sure they knew what they were doing

one of BR's producers said that $400 million worldwide is the number they need to reach to break even. can you see that happening? can anyone? didn't think so.

Are you a marketer? Why the fuck does money matter so much

It's flopping because people want a good seat to go watch it, literally all dates have reserved the central seats in my area weeks in advance. Nobody wants to watch such a visual movie from a shitty viewing angle, this isnt Fast and furious or Guardians of the galaxy. Only patricians want to watch and they want the best seats so there isnt enough supply(showing times) to fulfill the demand desu

I do not see how that affects the quality of the film though. I certainly won't let that affect how much I enjoyed the film.

>High concept art piece
>Expecting it to sell well in the country epitomized by the shit emoji.

It will make money in China, there wont be another film

at this point his only chance is to accept a "hired hand" type deal with marvel/DC or direct the next james bond flick (he's had some talks about that recently) and let the financial success of that flick cover up his utter failure here.

>It will make money in China
why would it make money in china? it's isn't bright, loud and fast paced like all the stuff that's successful there. you also should consider that the original blade runner was never released in china so how are they supposed to understand this sequel?

>tfw I watched it sitting right in the centre of my kinoplex

>tfw when true kino is tanking while trash flicks thrive

>Get to make the movie you want
>poor box office results means no cash-grab sequels that would ruin your vision
>get paid anyway

he'll be fine

I think it is going to be a slow burn in the box office

This
Too bad Dune will be directed by Michael Bay now

>just look at this smug motherfucker. do you think he's smirking now?
Well he made the best movie of the year so he should be

Why wouldn't he be smug? he made a flick on the same level as TFA

Good, this is a perfect ending to the series. Nobody wants to see blade runner become the next alien franchise.

look at Sicario. it's another of his movie that ends perfectly, but because it made money there's gonna be a fucking sequel. I'm glad BR2049 tanked. Sony doesn't deserve any more money.

>no one even expected grand numbers
yeah that's why you need Goose and Ford in the movie and $300kk budget. no one expected this to be a success

>No one expected grand numbers from an almost 3 hour long r rated visually focussed slow burning neo noir sci fi film that deals with the human condition
>150 million dollar production budget
Maybe your common sense says that noone should expect grand numbers, but somebody DID. you don't toss that money into something like this without expecting a RoI

why do you actively want movies to flop?

>archive.4plebs.org/tv/search/image/H4yPNcLi7Y1aOWb3blfUew/
>literally 24 hours a day
Kys my dude

The Goose fits the role perfectly, Ford is there for minimal time and the budget is half of what you said.

>One is underrated by plebs
>One is overrated by plebs
Really makes you think

>having to check which implies you're on all the time
very interesting
So you're here even longer and defending this pleb bait flick?

One flop isn't unacceptable or anything. Sure, it doesn't raise his stakes, but him directing five criticially acclaimed movies, all in different genre, in five years has left a good taste of him.

they're going to at least make straight to dvd/vod animated movies that come out in 2020 and 2022 and 2049 that are either prequels or sequels

>>One is underrated by plebs
Which one would that be? Because if its nurunner then you're wrong, norman
>8.7 - imdb
>4.3/5 - letterboxd
>8.2/10 with all critics on RT

This is great compared to the opening of the first Blade Runner back then

also these numbers are only from fat stupid people everyvody has a gun country.

once the movie hits world wide you will see

well, he made a fucking masterpiece. so he's got that going for him

Its underrated.

>tfw Denis won't get the budget he needs to do Dune properly

Fuck

who cares, it's a masterpiece, I saw it, I don't care if it makes money or if others watch it.

important is that it is a masterpiece

>you caught me being a shut in autist getting triggered about a movie being good so you must be another shut in autist
Did that make sense in your mentally ill head before you wrote it?

People are too busy talking about Las Vegas massacre and Harvey Weinstein openly admitting to sexual assault.
>JK they are too busy talking about Andy Signore flirting badly. (literally rape)

Now TFA
>8.1- imdb
>4.0/5 - letterboxd
>8.2/10 with all critics on RT

Woah it's almost the exact same and combine that with the sophomoric discussions and defense of it the fan bases is most likely the same

why so many shills

>My little pony movie pulled a profit before blade runner

Japs and Euros will love it.

The original Blade Runner is a tedious slog, one of the most overrated movies I've ever seen.

Why would a sequel 35 years later, starring anti-draw Ryan Gosling and decrepit Harrison Ford make money?

Same

>This is great compared to the opening of the first Blade Runner back then
35 years of inflation means it's probably doing about the same kind of business.

la la land made like 2 gorillion

Movie is gonna have legs.

even Sup Forums has a /mlp/ board but still no /br/ board. really fists my anus.

hack

They did for IT.

This movie was too genuine.
IT had that overrated factor.
Its weird, a movie has to seem overated for people to want to see it. Its a weird normie fetish these days.

or maybe just maybe... we actually liked the movie. is it possible to love something on Sup Forums without being labeled a shill?

It will make its money back through good word of mouth as well as a few oscars.

This is pretty stand-alone. My wife hasn't seen Blade Runner and she enjoyed it for what it was. She knew Harrison was in the first one and I had explained a bit about the atmosphere of the first one and that was enough.

future GOAT director. I am tearing up my nolan posters and replacing them with him.

BLAME THE WOMAN, THEY STOLE BLADEKINO FROM THE MEN

TRUE
SAVIOR
OF
KINO

>Tfw you got the perfect center seat for an IMAX 4k showing last night

Blade Running out of business

Shut up retard

i thought it was warner bros

They're just distributing domestically. Sony are involved in production and international distribution.

>capeshit makes 400 million like wonder woman
>good movies like BR2049 barely make 40 mill
wew

why are people so obsessed with the opening weekend box office? im sure it'll make twice it's budget back in the coming months including foreign sales

don't you want to see Blade Runner 3: Rise of the Replicants?

Every studio knows that you can't depend on domestic box office - what's really important is foreign box office and online rental/revenue from streaming services (where this film will make a killing)

That's the definition of normie. To do what everyone else is doing cause everyone else is doing it.

youtu.be/rr_OofNE9XY

Humanity circa 2017

I read that the worldwide gross for the weekend is about $100 million, so he's fine.

But let's be honest here, WB knew what they were doing with something like this.

Yes, I'm sure a critically acclaimed movie that's bound to continue making money for the next 30 years as a cult hit will be sure to kill his career
