No Christmas special

>no Christmas special

Why am I not surprised? Am I being unreasonable by expecting a Television show to actually create and release episodes?

Grow up.

there's no Christmas in the SU earth, it has no abrahamic religions.

>Tumblr: The TV Show
>Making a special about a Christian holiday

Do they have any kind of actual special?
That Thanksgiving one was just a big dinner with racist family member, and the winter one last year seemed more like a new year one.

Look at this post, Sup Forums. This is it.

This is the future you chose.

so quirky

Proof?

Except it had a goddamn nativity scene with Greg, Steven and the Gems.
You know, three of them bringing gifts to the newborn destined to lead their people to salvation.
It not only has a Christmas episode, it casts Steven as the Messiah.

Becky said so.
They also never mention any real-world religious holidays at all.
Beachapalooza is the only regular festival we have seen.

All the human stuff has gem iconify on it.

>holidays with pagan origins
>christian
explain

why would you want an SU Christmas special, that forced Thanksgiving Special was bad enough

It's from the alternate earth timeline where the more archaic Christmas was
replaced Festivus.

It's an alternate earth with ancient ayy lmaos. Holidays don't real in SU.

But that's wrong you fucking idiot
Three Gems and a Baby was the Christmas Special
Steven is Jesus, btw

It does have a version of Halloween though apparently, and presumably non-religious replacements for other holidays as well. Reminds me of Homestar Runner with its Decemberween.

Why do you care?

There are Merry Christmas shows, like The Loud House, and there are Happy (((Holidays))) shows, like Steven Universe.

Just started watching this. Love the premise, love the setting, love the writing, love the tone. Fucking HATE the art style.

Will I get used to it? Does anyone else know this feel?

You will get used to it the first few eps are pretty poor in terms of art compared to letter SU seasons as the artists got better and the show got a bigger budget.

Since Sucrose lets the goons go off model, you'll eventually learn to appreciate the differences between the animators and how their designs evolve over time.

The art style significantly improves after the first dozen or so episodes, as it distances itself from its relation to the artist's nightmare known as Adventure Time.

You will at the very least come to hate it less, as long as you don't also hate anime.

That's so tolerant and progressive.

>It does have a version of Halloween though apparently
That was a horror movie episode. Not a halloween episode.

They didn't mention halloween once.

Steven carved a face in a pumpkin just recently.

Cool, thanks. I'm still within the first half of the first season. I'll try to ride it out.

The last episode released was a Christmas episode. Not all Christmas episodes need a Christmas tree to make it so.

...

If you notice when Andy's bitching about the gems living in his barn in Gem Harvest he has a line where he says its "like some sort candy-giving holiday," which is a joke about how the SU world doesn't have Halloween or any holidays that we know of in our world.

Good goy

Seethe

>he art style significantly improves after the first dozen or so episodes

LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL

that's kinda gay but whatever, it's a kids' show I guess

gonna be real fucking gay if there's never ever a halloween episode

>explaining to lapis and peridot the costume thing
>one chooses a fun costume
>the other chooses a sexy costume

which one would choose which?

WHO

FUCKING

CARES

Was in season 1 too desu.

lots of people. They shouldn't care though.
Because this show has been getting worse with every season.

The art style is as inconsistent as ever. And the later guest appearances of Hellen Jo and Lauren Zukes atrocious art styles (among others) completely disqualifies the statement of Steven Universe's art getting better.

Pretty sure Kevin Dart has stopped doing background art as well, so that's another point against newer episodes.

All CN Studios shows go on hiatus during december and, if they do have a christmas epsiode, premier it on the first week of the month
We DID have a winter themed episode this year (Three Gems and a Baby) that premiered in the first of the month

at least zuke is kill. it can only go up from the very bottom.

Season 3 was better than 2a. But season 2b was better than 3a. Season 2a was better than 1a, but I'd say 1b was better than both.

Hellen hasn't been on the show for 2 seasons.

I think episodes like Together Breakfast or Cheeseburger backpack is what people mean, but those are only 2 episodes.

If he has left I haven't noticed because the backgrounds are still as good as ever.

This show really went downhill after season 2 or so. I watch when it's on but it's just lazily done and not interesting anymore. Makes me kind of sad.

I didn't watch CN this break. Did anyone have a Christmas special?

Eh, was never really great to begin with. Hasn't been a good cartoon since my childhood.

Good, that means this turd of a show doesn't get another filler episode and prevents the cancerous general from getting to be back on Sup Forums.

Kevin Dart wasn't a Bg designer/painter (outside of the dogcopter trailer), but Art Director
>SU Art Directors
>Kevin Dart
first 12 episodes
>Elle Michalka
Steven's Lion (12th episode produced; with Dart), So Many Birthdays-Jail Break, Full Disclosure and Say Uncle (with Lai)
>Jasmin Lai
Full Disclosure and Say Uncle (with Michalka), Joy Ride-Bismuth
>Ricky Cometa
Beta onward

>Regular BG Painters
>Elle Michalka
beginning to Lars and the Cool Kids, intermittent post-season 1 epsiodes. Responsible for the backgrounds for The Answer
>Amanda Winterstein
every episode
>Jasmin Lai
Cheeseburger Backpack-Jail Break, Full Disclosure and Say Uncle, Beta Onward. Responsible for the backgrounds for the Li'l Butler Intro
>Ricky Cometa
Full Disclosure-Bismuth

I dunno about that. Sounds very close minded. I really enjoyed Regular Show and Gravity Falls for the most part. Currently watching through Uncle Grandpa and it's pretty fun. I'm just surprised that at all of the good cartoons on now, this is the one everyone circlejerk over. It's just so monotone. Nothing stands out and since season three the nonexistent narrative/story completely stopped with hints of half assed lore that contradicts old eps. Pretty stupid, but Tumblr really likes this show because of gay or whatever. I like Amethyst and Peridot though, that's about it.

They played movies today, along with obnoxious ads for Mighty Magiswords

I think the current season's lack of plot is supposed to be a break in the action, and the reason why it feels longer than the previous breaks in action (Steven Floats to Kiki's Pizza, House Guest to Watermelon Steven) is hiatuses mixed with a lack of a looming thread

Heck, I think next epsiodes are gonna be when they're gonna start writing the show with Bombs in mind

So I wouldn't really complain about just SU, but moreso all of CN not getting Christmas specials? Sounds like CN really has gotten some new, more PC CEOs. Anyone miss Lazzo?

Those three cartoons are mediocre as hell. Star vs and The Loud House are another set of mediocre toons.

Now if you want to talk about animated shows that are actually good, Rick and Morty, Bojack Horseman, Voltron and Venture Bros are good.

It's actually really jarring to rewatch the first season now. Hints about the various backstories (corrupted gems, gem society, what garnet actually is) were present when nothing similar even exists in the show now.
Gem monsters especially. What a goddamn mistake it was to largely drop those. Since they allowed for more interesting plots than townie troubles.

There's actually nothing interesting about this show now. No real incentive to watch other than hoping some upcoming episode deals with the plot again.
Everything in-between is just noise and not even noise that's entertaining or funny.

Regular Show got a christmas special this year. It's that christmas specials don't premier on christmas, but rather on the first week of december

I should have been more specific. But why wouldn't Christmas episodes be shown on Christmas? At least they were in my day.

>putting Star Vs and Loud House in the same tier

Come on mate

>Rick and Morty

It's good but not as good as RS or UG. Horseman and Voltron are fine. Venture Bros is God tier.

Maybe because we already know what each one of those things are now? Speculation is always more fun than what is actually revealed because you don't know what to expect. It's probably why people were dissappinted with gravity Fall's finale.

The fact that there are no real mysteries left and the insanely infrequent release of new episodes is really just killing this show for me. I wouldn't mind the lull in excitement if we got an episode, say, every other week, but getting two or three episodes every couple months, and having those episodes be mostly filler, makes it fucking unbearable. I doubt any more than a few dozen kids actually give a shit about this show, with how fucking slow it is.

>Just hoping for any plot related episode now

This is so sad, no show should feel like this, everything in the middle should feel funny or entertaining.

Not him, and I don't want to come off as one of those blind Rick and Morty fanboys, but Rick and Morty is definitely better than Regular Show and Uncle Grandpa. I mean, this last season of Regular show is better than most of Rick and Morty, but the majority of Regular Show isn't. And Uncle Grandpa is certainly worse than both.

yeah. It's too bad Steven Universe ended up this way.

In a perfect world maybe, but when you introduce a story, that's what people are gonna want to see the most, which is the problem because Sugar has said the plot isn't the main focus of the show which causes annoyance when we have episodes where literally nothing happens.

By now of course we already know the pattern. Like 10 filler episodes then 10 plot episodes, but the infrequent release schedule makes it that much worse when nothing happens.

Part of the problem is that there's nothing to speculate now. All the little mysteries have been solved, nothing unpredictable is going to happen.

Hell I mean, you can even look at how the show handled potential threats to know that this shit isn't going anywhere interesting.

>the cluster
>jasper roaming earth

they couldn't even be bothered to make the filler episodes entertaining.
says a lot about the show.

I thought Jasper's situation was handled nicely.

Depends on what you define as filler, I thought the last episode was fine.

Look, if you find immortal all-powerful (from your perspective) beings who tell you that not only are they not someone you should worship, but they haven't encountered anyone you should, you listen.

Anyone who assumes regular earth holidays such has haloween or christmas exist on the SU universe doesn't have a fucking brain

The series almost never focuses on that kind of stuff though. It's always about the gems. Why are you assuming they don't exist? The only reason I see it could be like that would be someone saying it online or in an interview, because that's not what the series is about.

The biggest mystery left is the beginning of the Crystal Gems rebellion, which is most likely Pearl's origin story. Hopefully we'll get some episodes that take place during the war as well.

You're right about the release schedule, though. That shit is tortuous and all CN's fault.

apparently things will pick up again when it airs again.

We're gonna see some Diamonds stuff and actually go on missions again.

Then what are the Gem Temples? Did humans worship them?

the last string of townie episodes were pointless and they should have instead spent that time giving lapis a somewhat convincing redemption arc rather than having her jump from hating/wanting to murder the cgs to being chill enough to play baseball with them in two episodes, or developing Jasper more, or exploring Malachite and her fallout more, or giving amethyst a better and deeper arc than the one she got that just had to do with beating up jasper to make her feel better about herself and then reverting back to her old insecurities and self-loathing after beating up jasper

the latest string of townie episodes is probably going to be the same deal, and after this arc airs it will probably become apparent that they should have used the episodes to develop the stuff they showcase in this upcoming arc more and rush the character "growth" and the arc's resolution less

I personally think they just ignored pretty much everything about humans, so no.

Sooner or later people will realize that they actually like this show more for its ideas and potential then the actual execution of that stuff.

I think the fanbase on here/tumblr/reddit tend to like the show and it's characters more and think the show's writing is good because of fan-content that fills in and sometimes fixes shit the writers fail to explain or develop properly. I feel like they made so many bad decisions wasted so may opportunities with certain arcs and characters, especially Lapis, Jasper, and Peridot.

Even if the writing disappoints me more often than not, I am still grateful to SU and the crewniverse for giving us a non-serialized western-cartoon that at least tries to tell a story and cover heavier topics and deal with more mature themes. I wish animation was an industry that was taken more seriously in America and that it wasn't only seen as a way to sell toys to kids, there needs to be more shit like ATLA on TV.

I can literally hear your heavy breathing through my computer screen.

Don't be an idiot, user. Like, c'mon.

Sorry the writers of your fav Tumblr cartoon are retarded. Kill yourself

That's just your daddy coming up behind you for a poke.

>dude, I shit on a children's TV show, look how intellectual I am

Do you also post on /mlp/?

Is Sup Forums not a place where people are supposed to come to discuss cartoons? People like to act as if SU is the greatest most progressive cartoon ever and I'm just saying the writing can be pretty weak and that I wish standards for western animated series were higher.

Higher standard compared to what? I really hope you're not going to say anime.

what do humans even do in their universe?

Either make up conspiracy theories on Tumblr or try to live a normalfag life.

Stand around, be retarded and ignore everything. Basically the opposite of what normal human beings are like.

>Basically the opposite of what normal human beings are like.
I'm pretty sure that definition would work for most people though.

But an entire city?

>lol geeks like anime

Western animation would be far better if people interested in it stuck their heads in the sand less and instead aspired to make something great.

Also, you don't belong on Sup Forums.

We're done here. I hope you get caught jerking off to loli porn and thrown in jail.

It's not even Tumblr enough for them

>fan-content that fills in and sometimes fixes shit the writers fail to explain or develop properly
Like what?

Why don't you stop acting retarded?

Its a simple dramedy cartoon show. Go outside.

He wasn't arguing against that, was he?

People on here can be fucking stupid sometimes. So a show can't be critiqued simply because it's quite cartoon show eh? I thought you people put Steven up to high standards. Nice to now the fags that do can't register basic criticism or analysis. Really says a lot about the fanbase of the show.

this show isn't good anymore.

Come over and say that to my face so I can throw a shoe at you, you mook.

Watermelon Island and that cluster episode where good.

Pretty sure humans were around for the rebellion so although it has passed out of history and cultural memory some symbols and traces may have been carried on through tradition even though the original meaning was lost.

yeah. nobody could ever infer the meaning of a shit ton of weapons strewn out over a large open field
