Where's the horror?

Where's the horror?

Its a thriller.

In the filmmaking.

He was molesting his son. There was a cycle of abuse subtext.
The woman in Room 237 was him reliving his own abuse as a child.

Turn off your tv while watching to see the reflection of yourself. Then you will see the horror.

the acting

It being an adaption of something Stephen King wrote.

nigger cook

the guy in the bear suit

Yeah, I know, but what does It have to do with this?

It's horrifying.

Who was that Aniga Cook guy the waiter was talking about?

Look! Its a bait thread. Heres your (You).

Her chompers.

What was the point of that? Entirely forgot it was in the movie

Danny = the bear
The Dude = Jack

The bear-guy has his ass exposed (for anal fun) and also was about to blow old Dude-guy.

Wendy (finally) realizes the implications that their kid was molested by his own father.
Therein lies the horror.

The plausibility of it. All molestation or supernatural subtexts aside, to me the horror of the Shining is just the mere thought of being isolated with your beloved family, and then a member going crazy and trying to murder you all. It's totally possible. It's also what scared me about the VVitch, less so than all the actual witchcraft.

I grew up in a very loving family though, so I guess the horror for me lies in my foundations being violently shattered like that.

I wonder since Stephen king disliked the movie that he'll reboot it after the success of IT

Tbh I would like to see the shining that was more close to the original book. Kubrick's was pure kino, but it was pretty far off the original stuff.

Jack gives an excellent performance of a man going crazy, propping up a boring thriller that people dare not criticize for fear of being called stupid

this, but unironically. who would dare put their dick in that mouth

In the atmosphere

It's unsettling and slow-paced.
Obviously modern audiences are conditioned to instant gratification in the form of jump scares, and most people already know exactly what is going to happen in the plot, so it's just a masterfully directed thriller.

It was criticized at the time. The fans have now become the critics and that's why it's held in its current regard.

People call this a horror, man. I wouldn't stress too much about genre definitions and alleged conformity.

I watched this with a girl. I told her it was supposed to be the one of the scariest movies of all time

Halfway through we were bored as fuck and we ended up having sex

Thanks, Sup Forums

The whole hallway fills with blood, that's pretty horrifying. I know they used animal blood in the film not human, but that won't be found in a film not marked with 'horror'.
