They're getting pretty good at de-aging people
They're getting pretty good at de-aging people
...
Why didn't they de-age Deckard, too? A replicant shouldn't age
if he is a replicant (which I don't think he is) he is probably the same type as Rachel because both of them could reproduce. If they could go so far as to give birth, maybe Tyrell designed them to age too. Possibly as a safeguard in case he ever lost control of them, so they wouldn't overpopulate from none of them dying of old age
thats not de-aged. thats all cgi, like they did with rogue one, except they had someone who actually knew what they were doing/had artistic perfectionism in charge of the effects.
it's actually a double, not cgi
It's an actual replicant built in Japan by Sony specifically for this movie and the potential sequels
You mean like they just found a lookalike girl and CGI'd Sean Young's face on her in the same way they do with de-aging? You have source?
Weren't all Replicants in the original supposed to die after a few years?
rachel was an experimental prototype, which was revealed to have a longer lifespan and capable of childbirth
is harrison cg too
he appears to be giving a shit
That's pretty impressive
de-aging is when they use an older actor, and put dots all over their face and use cgi to take away the wrinkles and sags.
this is a entirely different actress that they put a cgi sean young face over.
Shut up, lying faggot. It’s already been confirmed that Sean Young did the mocap for the young Rachael. Watch the movie again, her lips look CGI as fuck.
But if Deckard was a replicant he would've been one of the older models, right?
They still haven't gotten lip movement to look realistic yet, but everything else is very impressive
what's up with her eyebrows? she never did that in the original
>But if Deckard was a replicant he would've been one of the older models, right?
He could have been created 2 weeks before the movie starts and placed in front of that ramen shop.
Nothing to say all of his memories weren't fake either.
I prefer the version where he's human though, makes more sense to me.
why did Wallace just kill her? Wasn't she just a direct copy of the real Rachel? Maybe she could have gotten pregnant too
>He could have been created 2 weeks before the movie starts and placed in front of that ramen shop.
I guess. Haven't seen the movie in a while but I seem to remember his boss referencing that he'd been doing his job for a while. Wasn't he about to retire or something? Just doesn't make much sense that Deckard is a replicant given the new movie. You could've made that argument when it was just the original, now I'm not so sure.
Like Leia in Rogue One?
This looked so fake I was hoping that since this was a real director he would've just left it at a mysterious shot from behind not go full Leia.
Something about her skin seemed off. Otherwise I was pretty impressed. At least this was more realistic than Leia or Tarkin
He was "retired" according to the script of the old movie, but that could've been an elaborate ruse with memory implants and whatnot.
it looked amazingly real except the one line she spoke facing the camera (but it was only like 3 words). Her skin also looked kinda fake when viewed from the side before the webm scene, and when she was walking towards Deckard from across the room.
When she got close like in the webm though she looked almost exactly like the real Sean Young from 1982
SPOILER ALERT YOU FUCKING NIGGERS.
goddamn it.
this is from the videogame? pretty good
I wish there was a new Blade Runner video game. Guess I'll go back to Tex Murphy and try to playthrough the 1997 game again.
XD
>They're getting pretty good at de-aging people
no shit
kek
Holy fuck that's good
I can't believe it's been less than a year since video game Tarkin, and look what we've got now.
>why did Wallace just kill her? Wasn't she just a direct copy of the real Rachel? Maybe she could have gotten pregnant too
he was a tyrelaboo he wanted it to be perfect like Adam and Eve
oh come on that thumbnail only tells you Rachel is somehow in the film. There could be many explanations for why
>tfw they finally got the eyes right
Skynet is coming
Fucking magic. Jesus Christ.
I herd that it was actually sean young, but they used cgi to make her look young, which considering how she looks now, wasn't too hard
>D-denis why are you CGI'ing me?
Sean Young is actually in pretty good shape now. A few years ago, she was pretty fat. Now she could easily pass as an older Rachael, which probably made it easier for the CGI team
>muh low quality camrip makes her look fake
She looked real in theaters, poorfags. I actually don't go to theaters, just made an exception for this kino since I felt it would tank.
The fuck is wrong with you plebs? Her eyes are the wrong color.
this, but it still looks good, even with a shitty cam rip.
Leia and Tarkin somehow looked even worse on a cam rip, but Rachael still looks fine. You can definitely see that she's CGI when Luv fucking shoots her in the head holy shit
unironically kill yourself right now
I thought she looked like a completely different woman. Diferent nose and lips. Also the jaw. Was I alone?
So was Deckard just senile and couldn't remember her real eye color, or was he intentionally lying to basically tell Wallace to fuck off?
>He could have been created 2 weeks before the movie starts and placed in front of that ramen shop.
Ridley is a hack who didn't plan this properly at all no direction at all.
In the deleted scenes he has a voiceover at the start talking about his background and family.
>When she got close like in the webm though she looked almost exactly like the real Sean Young from 1982
she has heavy makeup back then aswell though I thought it was a real actor at first desu only until after people told me it was cgi i was impressed
...
he was saving face
Her eyes are brown or hazel
watching this in the theatre i was fucking floored, looking for a seam
in the end i assumed they must've gotten a lookalike and applied minimal cgi to her because holy hell
no u
I'm surprised more people weren't talking about this...it's 5x better than Tarkin only a year later
her face does seem a little rounder than actual Sean Young but not enough to distract me from the scene
The problem with Deckard being a replicant that Tyrell created to fuck Rachael is that Tyrell wouldn't have been able to predict Batty coming back to Earth to look for him. So the whole thing relies on a massive coincidence.
I'm sorry, but the movies both only make sense if Deckard is human.
Because 2049 didn't have paid shills like nu-Star Wars.
we only shill for free with no contact from Warner
>Maybe she could have gotten pregnant too
Definitely not. It was a manufactured attempt at a recreation, not a literal remake (ie the dna would've been slightly different)
This is clear because her eyes were the wrong colour
it looks like shit tbqh
The remake's eyes were the right color. Green eyes was just a reference to how the real Rachel's eyes glowed green in certain light, or when they were looked at with that imager
If he could regrow rachel why didn't he just have someone fuck her and make another baby?
no you stupid fuck. It doesn't matter what her colors were or are, deckard was just being defiant.
Rachel was Tyrell's secret pet creation. She might have been one of a kind. When Tyrell died they lost all the information on how to make another Rachel. Wallace's version is just an attempted recreation using one of his own replicants
Yeah, I actually thought it was just a younger actress who looked like Sean Young until I saw this thread.
Seriously. The eyes glowing green and lighter like cat's eyes or the artificial owl was supposed to be suggestive of their non-human nature.
Wait, she was CGI? I thought that was real look-alike. Amazing, much better than disney and their shit.
Watch her mouth when she speaks. It looks like a really good video game cutscene. It's probably the best CGI de-aging ever, but it's funny that Warner Bros BTFO of Marvel and Disney in one scene.
they didn't de-aged shit, they clearly pasted her face directly from the previous film and moved it around to make her speak. you can tell since everybody else looks like digital and she looks like grainy film
Yeah, you're right user. They move a little too 'smoothly'. Still, in cinema I couldn't pay attention to this detail I was so blown away by the movie in general.
Did you actually watch the movie or are you referencing the low res webm in this thread?
I watched it and those are my conclusions, this guy saw it too
>TFW you realize that Luv was probably Wallaces first attempt at recreating Rachel which is why they look sort of alike
>tfw Luv flat out kills her without hesitation but she was crying when Wallce killed a new born replicant because it was a failure(couldnt give birth)
Luv probably couldn't stand looking at the bitch that she was based on
Sean Young is still fuckable
fite me
Totally agree
holy shit
>all this shilling
You're probably right, because no one would want to work with Sean Young these days, not even to do mo-cap.
Those dubs are wasted on your wrong answer. No cgi.
...
yummy
I was looking at it in the theatre trying my hardest to spot the CGI and for the life of me couldn't. Absolutely amazed and also relieved they didn't ruin this masterpiece with shitty de-aging.
...
>de-aging is when they use an older actor, and put dots all over their face and use cgi to take away the wrinkles and sags.
which is what they did
Uhh mate,do you know what de-aging is? They simply apply effects to an actor's face. Sean young was actually standing there, it's not 100% cgi
He was testing whether Wallace actually knew what he was talking about or just guessing.
Yeah that webm isn't too accurate since it's a >CAM. in the theater it was quite close imo.
>tfw you realize one day we will have a live action movie exclusively featuring all famous dead actors
The only reason why Rachael looks so good is because Sean Young is still alive and still looked close enough to herself in 1982 to do the mocap for the character. Take Tarkin and Leia in Rogue One for example, they both don't look nearly as good because Tarkin was dead and Carrie was too old and fat to mocap herself, so they had to get different actors to do it. It'll be a long, long time before we can get someone like James Dean back into films.
This camrip doesn't really do justice to how good it looks at the kinoplex
It's the best seen one I've seen and better than anything Disney did
I think the webm looks good. If the de-aging looks bad in the cam rip (which it doesn't) then it's probably going to look worse in the theater. The cam rip would only make it look more realistic, since details that would make it look fake are blurred out by the bloom / contrast / low resolution
Truth.
Deckard and Rachel are both Nexus 7.
Notice how 2049 skips from Nexus 6 to Nexus 8?
Deckard is Gaff. This is all but confirmed by elderly Gaff's cryptic exchange about how he and Deckard worked best alone so they teamed up to keep it that way.
Gaff is the LAPD's top Blade Runner, but he's also crippled due to an unspecified injury. Bryant needs "the old magic" so they agree with Tyrell to roll the dice on a replicant implanted with Gaff's memories and experience. This is why Gaff ferries him around in the Spinner and treats him with such contempt. The apartment is actually Gaff's, hence his being able to access it to check on Rachel and leave the unicorn origami. The unicorn is Gaff's dream.
Wallace obviously didn't have enough to recreate her perfectly as he got the fucking eye colour wrong.
he didn't really get the eye color wrong
Debateable. 2049 makes a point of showing you her green eye through the Voight-Kampff machine earlier in the film.
Maybe Deckard remembers her eyes being green because that's how they look to the Voight-Kampff machine, and he obsessively replays that memory in his mind
hes actually a real replicant since the real harrison ford died in a plane crash
looks fake as shit
