Because none of it's jokes rely on the teen titan premise, and people are very fond of the cartoon that came before it and that was never finished.
It's like if rick and morty got cancelled halfway through season 2, the scripts for future episodes were leaked online, and then they brought it back as a more lighthearted comedy. It doesn't matter how good the new version is, people are bound to be a little bitter.
That being said, the new version of this relies way too much on visual gags.
