Welcome to /hor/

Let's begin, and let's try to make this as kino as possible.

Why did mainstream horror become such shit? All the good horror these days is indie.

>strawmanning this hard

alright, which of these movies is the worst:

Dead Alive
Phenomena
Ichi the Killer
Society
The Brood
Event Horizon
The Devil's Backbone
Posession

Ichi

NAME A GOOD ONE THEN NIGGER AND IT BETTER NOT BE SOME FAGGY GHOST SHIT EITHER. or meme shit.

I'm not naming shit, nigger. You will bash it no matter what it is. Now go watch Saw 17.

>ive been watching shittons of horror movies for like 6 years
>names nothing but new shit that are mediocre-bad
To think you could have wasted your time watching good horror movies.

im not a nostalgia fag with a shitty life who thinks everything new sucks

event horizon or ichi.. Ichi was different though which is sorta refreshing. The anime is better.

Rate my Hoop-Tober list

>im not a nostalgia fag with a shitty life who thinks everything new sucks
Nigga I didn't start watching horror movies until I was 20 so don't give me that nostalgia excuse. If you want to watch garbage, then fine. Keep in mind you're wasting your time with bottom of the barrel shit.

I don't think everything new sucks, just new horror movies.
>All the good horror these days is indie.
Like?

>not liking ghost movies

I thought Hoop-Tober was gonna mean basketball themed horror movies

mainstream horror has been garbage since people started being able to make their own shit with no executive oversight

you can go back as far as Carnival of Souls...if we want to loop in filmmakers and artists working outside the studio system, some of the early narrative Brakhage, Meshes of the Afternoon, parts of Un Chien Andalou

mainstream horror has been garbage for a long time, but I'd say the mid-60s is the real turning point

>Carnival of Souls
this movie is so fucking good and spoop as hell.

It's named after Tobe Hooper.
Really fun challenge if you have time to spare

What are the good horror movies on uk netflix?

Fires in the Sky?

I really liked Psycho 2. Felt weird at first seeing everything in color at first but I got sucked in.

>he doesn't watch mostly indie movies

Pleb confirmed.

Is it the best Meta sequel?

no but you're a faggot and a moron (with a faggoty life) who thinks Unfriended was "kino"

It's a sequel about the making of a sequel?

Slumber Party Massacre is one of the best horror comedys and you know it.

my gf and I tried to watch noroi and fell asleep around 30-40 minutes in

I assume uk Netflix isnt that much different than us/canada netflix which has literally no good horror films. 98% of it is recent low budget trash.

If I swap out Ichi for another Japanese horror film, do I go for Tetsuo, Noroi, or take it back with Onibaba

n.b. we have already watched Audition, Gozu, Hausu, Battle Royale, and A Page of Madness this year

Nope its a sequel where the original is a movie but it is a direct sequel to the events of the movie.

Like how the original movie is about actual killings that were made into a movie so the sequel is about a killer who is basing is style after the movie.

Where do you get that? I'm saying no recent indie horror films that I've seen are any good.

This was good, but you probably haven't seen it.

what is Wes Craven's New Nightmare

This is a litmus test for plebs. Watch as my statement is proven correct in this very thread.

Tetsuo and Onibaba are great films, Juroneko is also pretty good. Also recommend Conton, Kwaiden, and Uzumaki

>what is Scream 3
>what is The Human Centipede (Full Sequence)
>what is The Human Centipede (Final Sequence)

anyway sounds neat tell me more

Lake Mungo is fucking garbage and I wish it wasn't mentioned in every single thread. The name alone is retarded.

Do you guys have a membership at The Horror Charnel?

It's the biggest horror private torrent tracker and you have to be a member here in order to not be a pleb.

horrorcharnel.org/

Its one of those movies where going in knowing the least about what happens is the best way to see it. I think its still on Netflick which is where I saw it. The trailer is pretty good if your interested.

>The name alone is retarded.

This statement is retarded. It's the name of a foreign location.

The fact that you hate it this much as well as your stupid statement proves you are a massive pleb.

cool, are you in it?

None of those films except Carnival of Souls is a horror film. Also, what the fuck is
>the early narrative Brakhage
? Brakhage didn't make narrative films in any accepted sense of the term.

>how dare you make fun of the name of my fav movie you p..pleb

cry more, shitposter.

not as retarded as your shit movie.

No, it's the name of a lake full of mungos. I mean, let's be honest, maybe there's a lake called Mungo, but that's not why they called their shitty movie that.

Are you kidding? He ghost directed Cannibal the Musical. Get the fuck out of here until you actually learn a little about horror.

Watched this a month ago. One of the absolute worst horror films I've seen since It Follows.

Nope I'm just trying to keep the thread alive.

>One of the absolute worst horror films

another pleb spotted.

they are dropping like flies already

It doesn't need you to stay alive. It's a general so it will last until the bump limit is reached.

Heres my October list so far this year

>1. Videodrome (1983)
>2. The Pit (1981)
>3. Black Candles (1982)
>4. Burial Ground (1980)
>5. Breeders (1986)
>6. Horror Rise From The Tomb (1973)
>7. Puppet Master 5 (1993)
>8. Return of the Living Dead 3 (1993)
>9. Aenigma (1987)

just report for shitposting and move on. We don't care about you spamming your crappy movie in every thread.

thats not a horror comedy you mong. everything after 1 is.

What a random selection of movies. Is this just the shit you found in the $3 bin at walmart?

yeah. too bad most things on the site are shit quality. xvid rips are over half the site. at least they have a decent selection of vhs stuff.

It was written as a parody but filmed straight.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Unglassed_Windows_Cast_a_Terrible_Reflection#Plot

also, implying Dog Star Man doesn't have a narrative

if you can tell someone what happens, there's a narrative

things happen in a sequence

if Walmart had titles like that in the $3 bin that would be amazing

Why would you think I was in the movie?

Yes, unfortunately Puppet Master 5 is in the $4 bin because it's part of a collection.

>Horror Rises From The Tomb
I liked Paul Naschy's Night of the Werewolf

I saw it. It was pretty good.

probably gunna make my way through the rest of the collection this month

Overpriced set.

kek

I can rest now.

What the fuck was his problem?

Is it any good?

I thought it was pretty good. A lot of people won't like it though it's not structured like a normal horror movie. It's kinda artsy fartsy too.

The atmosphere gives you most of the spooks. It reminded me of the Witch

Great, sounds like my thing then. Will definitely check it out.

I dont get it. Every horror thread on Sup Forums is full of shit. Apparently I have completely different taste than the average person on this board.

So let me make my own recs:
Descent
Creep 2004
They 2002
for the spooks

Pandorum
The Thing
Life
for the fun

I kinda rolled my eyes at this post since Lake Mungo is good but not GREAT but those first two replies completely proved your point. Lake Mungo is genuinely creepy

Your taste seems about on par with pleb to me.

the person is just being an asshole. if you say you like a movie that's not on some kind "official x kino list" then you obviously must be a shill.

do you mean The Descent (2005) or Descent (2007)

also, none of those picks are...bad per se

>too bad most things on the site are shit quality. xvid rips are over half the site.

yeah but you can get better quality stuff.

what there is an other movie with the same name? obviously I mean the 2005 one

its like last time I mentioned creep and someone assumed it was the new one that based on the trailer is complete fucking trash

yeah not an argument. Id rather be a pleb who watches enjoyable movies than some dumb fucking retard who likes old shitty movies, artsy crap, found footage trash or muuh ghost jumpscare simulator #59671

>watched the first 5 minutes of In my mother's eyes
>feel physically ill

dont think theres been a horror film thats made me stop watching like that.

I was legit confused for second there. I appreciate you setting me straight.

Exactly. It's not a masterpiece but it is objectively a good movie and the only people who hate it are jumpscare plebs, goreaddicts and other retards.

yeah on different sites

>Why did mainstream horror become such shit?

Capitalism desu

Kino

this. they figured out the formula that people desired and they aren't going to bother making anything more than that. most people are satisfied with a few jump scares and a couple grossout scenes. they're not looking for something that will stick with them.

t. retard

Good thing you had that pillow handy

Just watched it today desu
Was actually intense as fuck and scary in a realistic way. Good horror.

I feel bad for you. Horror movies are way better when you're a kid.

>Id rather be a pleb who watches enjoyable movies than some dumb fucking retard who likes old shitty movies, artsy crap,

>jumpscare: the list.

Thank this user everyone, as this is a good list of movies to completely avoid.

>being so pretentious you like art fag garbage

it wasn't obvious

that's why I asked

it's okay for you to like movies

it's okay for me to like em too

I like The Descent

but I'd rather not talk to you

>liking art
>pretentious
>being this retarded

ok

kid

So much trash on here. Liked Session 9 and Trick r' treat. Would it kill you to watch something pre-2000? All the best horror films came out then

Meme movie. Utterly boring and irredeemable
