the ban is nonsense, i took it pretty much for an entire year, was able to quit it cold turkey, its not addictive.
its actually very odd
it can 100% feel like an opioid high, but unlike other drugs, you dont have to change the dose, you can get consistent results.
so its kinda magical, since its not addictive (except mentally) but still powerful
many of the side effects are due to chewing of the leaves, not taking the powder via capsule, which is not studied much

3: helps with anxiety, panic attacks, etc
its not for stupid people, because you cant just take one capsule & be done
you have to take around 6 well packed capsules on an empty stomach in the morning with something acidic like orange juice

then you wait about 2 hours for it to kick in
then it lasts about 6~12 hours, for 6~12 hours you feel fantastic

Screw you. One of my parents is on pain medication and when they are not on it they wish for death from God. They like to mix Kratom as to 1) save money on pain pills and 2) reduce the use on pain pills which have side effects on their health. It's an endless cycle of taking prescription drugs to fight off the side effects of prescriptions drugs. "Natural" drugs such as Kratom actually reduces such side effects. Its has absolutely nothing to do with wanting to get high. It has everything to do with preventing them from committing suicide.

Exactly why my parent uses it. Every once and while a prescription drug or an over-the-counter medication loses its effects and it's back to square one finding a medicine that works for their pain.

It's because it is an opioid but it goes on different pathways compared to traditional opiates and opioids. It still delivers the traditional analgesic effects, but it avoids the pathway that involves nausea, addiction, and building up resistance to dosaging.

Seconding that it definitely causes nausea. I haven't experimented with any meds to counteract the nausea, I just make sure to dose it properly and drink some OJ or eat some ginger with it.
