I did. None of the diaspora did because guess what. They didn't move out of Yugoslavia because they wanted to. They're political dissidents, various nazis such as utashi and chetniks and so on...
I avoid Ex-Yugos in any coutnry I go to I much prefer to deal with the normal folk of the country and assimilate.

A part of the Yugoslav gatrabaiters that went to Western Euro countries to work on shitty jobs that paid as much as 5 times they would get home for the same job were political disidents(tho mostly extremists and the WW2 losing side) were given a choice to either leave the country peacefully and only come back if they changed their views.
The other choice was to get their shut fucked up(low chances of employment, imprisonment)
It's possible that you talked to these people or their descendants.
People here have a lot different view on Yugoslavia, not that much positive but not negative either.
