Probably. I don't think he's ever fucked it up.

Yes, but why would he do it?
Bond should be left for hack directors, not artists.

I hope he chooses to do something with value instead.

>My name?
>Is it Bond?
>No, its James.
>BBBBRRRRRRRRRRRRRRMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM

fuck that, he should concentrate on Dune

Bond is pure gobshite

please no. he's too good for whats known now as a bond film

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

FUCK OFF

James Bong

Chav edition

aka Kingsman

>makes a movie that bombs
>gets rewarded

I don't see why not. At this point, anything would be better than Spectre.

I do wonder if they expect different revenues from the movie.
Mind it I wish it to succeed but I don't think is not going to bomb. Make even after a good while, at best.

I thought he was doing Dune next?

>making another flop
lol

Dune will probably take a while, IF it gets made.

>yfw the goose becomes the first ever canadian born to play bond

>arrival

After BR, he's not gonna get a toilet paper advert financed. Doing a money-printing franchise buys him some goodwill.

This is the same paper that accused him of sexism in BR2049

WHAT THE FUCK IS THEIR AGENDA

Tipped by who?
Some random news article?

It would be extremely painful to the box office.

His direction deserves better writing, just like Mendes deserved on SPECTRE. Don't do it Dennie. It will hurt your cred when it's a stinker.

>arrival
you mean the greatest mainstream pleb filter of last year?
It was brilliant, why do you ask?

The movie did reasonably well regardless your shit tastes and ADHD

The ending to Spectre was so bad that I don't think I even want to see Bond25

Goose boy doesn't really have the Bond flair to him. He's better at playing the strong, silent type. Bond is very debonair and quick witted.

nice bait

Yeah i will wait til i see a trailer but if it doesn't do anything to me, i won't go.

t. gadget envy

that's on the studio, the marketing team. not him

This, the actual film was as good as anyone could have realistically wished for.

hope so, the quality of his films decreases as its box office increases

i to only like his earlier less popular films, d-dont call me a hipster

Please no.

This is beneath my darling poutine.

Clicks, views, ad revenue

This. Bond can fuck off, give it to Nolan. Dune has way more potential.

arrival is shit
just sayin

Let's say that Dolan can pull JB but can do a Dune. So better a Dolan with JB, is "his" level, and Villanova gets Dune.
But I am not a producer, and I am not sexually abusing an actress while writing this.

>arrival was bad!

>Fedoraueve to direct Bond
Well, he'll capture the young, edgy autistic audience at least.

>arrival was gud tfw abot is in death process ;_;

>pleblets still slobbering over Villenueve
Hopefully this fades a bit like the plebs flocking here when BrBa was airing

oh look, the circus is again in town

it was a stupid script but it was shot well
hes a good, safe, director. clean visuals and good DOPs
hed be good for bond

>i didnt understand arrival when it came out, so i say it was bad!

OH I HAVE NO QUALMS ABOUT HIS DIRECTORIAL SKILL, ESPECIALLY WITH BIG BUDGETS NOW AFTER SEEING 2049
THE ONLY REAL MATTER IS WHAT POOR SAP THEY PIN THE WRITING DUTIES ON THIS GO ROUND

I think we can all agree that he should do Dune next, he's on streak now.

>y-you didnt get it!

why are you shouting at me

>

The third act was still well shot despite being a dumpster fire of writing.

lol
he's perfect for it then.

>reaction image response to a reaction image

Holy shit, why is this so funny?

...

>arrival was bad because one moment towards the end of the film has an illogical time loop

>hurr durr fune face xD

>im above this

I don't even care if its a commercial flop as long as its a kino movie.

>hes a good, safe, director
not anymore

Are you literally going to sit there and pretend that 'mapping alien symbols to English words let me see the future for the sake of le plot twist' is anything other than contrived, hamfisted wankery?

I didn't think so, my good bitch. A rare Villenueve miss

i meant in terms of style
he doesnt pull anything too unusual
just flat, safe, pretty images

you're thinking nolan bud

literlally me

> logic
> arrival

pick one

Villenureddit is Nolan 2.0. Same shit, with less awkward dialogue. Now move along little plebby.

>Villenueve
How do you pronounce this?

Villa-new-vay ?

>he doesnt pull anything too unusual
It works very well. His violence scenes in 2049 were harder because of this, as it more disturbing something like enemy because evokes a sense of sudden, warping nightmare.

Cucumberland

Wrong. An artist director + Bond = Holy Grail of cinema.

like this
youtube.com/watch?v=aZ9Os8cP_gg

So, another talented, visionary director got it

Denny Vill-nev
He's French

Bondfags fuck off

WE
WANT
DUNE

>Same shit
Nolan wishes he could be as visually clear as Villaneuve. Dunkirk proved that even if he cuts down dialogue from a film that is grasping for understated dramatic moments is entirely undercut by his inability to film action *and* drama from a cohesive perspective

Blade Runner 2049 was brilliant. It slowly built and grew, I loved it.

This is somewhat fair, but Nolan's movies are more narratively complex and thematically resonant than Villenueve's so that's where the focus is

Something like Memento or Inception or Interstellar has a lot more to convey than relatively simple stories like Prisoners and Enemy, which allow Villenueve to focus on other priorities

When he tries to make a narratively complex movie - like Arrival - he whiffs into outright incoherence

im not saying it doesnt
im saying thats a good fit for bond
i cant fault his visuals
sicario had some of the most insufferable characters and cliches ive seen in a while
arrival was a drag of a script
disliked luvs character in BR
aside from that i like his work
scripts let him down

>THE ONLY REAL MATTER IS WHAT POOR SAP THEY PIN THE WRITING DUTIES ON THIS GO ROUND
This. I'm curious as well.
I dont think I've really liked any of the recent bond movies as a whole. Its the wrong franchise to try and pull some dour no-fun-allowed bullshit.
While I like dennis villanueve as a director, none of his movies have much "fun" in them.

>Nolan's movies are more narratively complex and thematically resonant
I can't think of a single Nolan film more genuinely complex or thematically deep than Prisoners, Sicario, and BR 2049

>Something like ... Inception or Interstellar has a lot more to convey than relatively simple stories like Prisoners and Enemy
you've got to be pulling my leg here

>When he tries to make a narratively complex movie - like Arrival - he whiffs into outright incoherence
the direction of Arrival is the only great thing about it. The wibbly wobbly time shit was pulled off incredibly well through the direction by confusing future visions with flash backs, and the presentation of the aliens was incredibly cinematically satisfying. Everything that doesn't make sense in the film is from the writing alone

Is Villeneuve the normie's NWR?
NWR was offered to direct Spectre, but turned it down

> not liking Casino Royale
> not liking Kino of Solace
> not liking Skyfall

Yikes. We have a Mouselord

>Is Villeneuve the normie's NWR
I don't see the connection really. He's not really stylistic enough to be a normie refn.

His job was making good film, which he did.

The movie bombing is on the marketing team

He is cheeto dust
He is hot pocket video game
He is canned "pizza sauce"
He is single-serving Easy Mac
He is dog biscuit Axe body spray
He is Dorito crumbs on a hooded sweatshirt
He is orange juice concentrate
He is a lotion stain on plaid boxer shorts
He is paintball burger king hot dog
He is coca-cola puberty

But.. but.... Nolan was supposed to be the chosen one.

To accept Villeneuve as a quality director is to garb yourself in a coat of hot pockets and video games and then writh around on the ground in a supermarket while screaching and slapping yourself on the sides of your head.

He is cheeto dust. Nothing more.

Nothing more than a hack, a useful tool for studios to trot out to say "Hey, we're making art house!" I cannot wrap my head around the adulation he receives, let alone the wide praise this has got. The film trudges from set piece to set piece, leaves us no real questions or anything to think about really.

The worst part however was Deakins "look at me i'm acting!" cinematography. This poor sap has become a parody of himself to appease his internet fans(much like Refn after Drive)

The same bullet that kills a capeshit fan will also kill the Villeneuve and Paul Thomas Anderson fan. They come from the same root, from the same doritos stained console. They are frauds, and as a warrior of cinema it's my duty to expose the fakes and the inauthentic when I see them. I will fight with crawls and teeth until the last imposter is fallen to the ground

I have about as much respect for denis villeneuve as I do for the dogshit on my shoe. It is reddit. It is video game hotpocket. It is capeshit. It is cheeto dust. I'm literally screaming right now and slamming my arms down on my desk just thinking about it.

It is the most depraved video game infantilized manchild degeneracy. It is saturday morning cartoon. It is non-neurotypicality. It is memes. It is video game. It is tarantino. It is imdb.

>Unironically uses "kino"
>Buzzwords from console war capeshit threads
>Thinks anyone is going to take him seriously
1/10, that's the best I can do.

>His job was making good film, which he did.
Did he though?

please not, fuck bong capeshit

The marketing was decent, the failure is on the execs who greenlit a $150,000,000 Blade Runner sequel

The original was made for $25 mil

They tried to do a T2 or an Aliens but they accidentally let the director make a smart film instead of popcornkino

Sup Forums seems to hate it so obviously yes.
It's much easier to make threads and get (You)s when hating a genuinely good movie than it is just to make threads about a bad movie. Given the fuckload of Villeneuve and BR2049 threads up at any one moment, I'd say he made a good film.

Why aren't normies going to see it?

He has great taste in waifu, so yea sure.

>they accidentally let the director make a smart film

If normies see smart films then Jurassic World, Suicide Squad, and TFA wouldn't have been billion dollar hits

"Bond needs to be FUN wtf at American Beauty guy making something poignant where are my quips also I have good movie opinions"

Keep trying, Mouselord

I'm fairly convinced the only people who like Arrival are those who have never seen a sci-fi movie before.

A Dune adaptation by him would be pure sex.

this is absurd lol
