I went in the US last month and had to swipe everywhere I went to. I guess they are really that late.

It happend because organized crime was running rampant over there not because it was more convenient.

I was told by some relatives that were were light years ahead in terms of banking but I didn't realise it was this bad.

Yup. every major and many of the smaller stores/restaurants etc. in Finland have contactless.
