Why hasn't California ever even voted on breaking up into two or more separate states? It's absurdly large with absurdly diverse cultures, geographies, industries, etc. What does anyone stand to lose?

This. Also pride. We weren't independent for very long, but the was a time when the words "California Republic" meant something. We put the Lone Star on our flag to salute Texas, whom we considered to be our sister state in our Sovereignty.

As it stands now, they have healthy control over 55 electoral votes. If it split, only some of the resulting states would be blue, and you'd see 10 electoral votes go red, and 10 more become battleground states. The left would essentially be giving up 20 surefire electoral votes. And they will NEVER allow that.

The central valley is a huge contributor to the largest industry in that state: agriculture. It's one of the most agriculturally fertile places in the world. It's makes California.

People seem to forget that California is like a huge percentage farmland.

New England should be one State.

New Jersey should be part of New York.

Virginias should be one State.

Carolinas should be one State.
