Other people seem to be either selfish if not outright malevolent, or just dumb and annoying.
I've noticed that the more I seclude myself from society, the happier I feel.
I just need to find a cave with an internet connection and I'm set for the rest of my life.

not necessarily. there's good reason to hate modern people. and there's not much reason to interact with people, have you tried? it's fucking boring.
Depends on the cave and location. You'd have to install drainage just in case, and heating, run power, reinforce the ceiling and passages, and basically do a huge construction project just to get it livable. Mines are better in this regard because at least they're made for humans, but still need a load of work to be comfy.
Most people are anti intellectual, you aren't wrong for feeling better when away from them. They don't care for things that font concern them. So of you're an intellectual they will all seem relatively dumb

I'm no hermit but I barely talk to anyone outside of work anymore.
Just last year I sort of stopped talking to everyone and gave up friendships and relationships and it's so much better.
All I do is worry about myself and working to become successful. In my free time I do things I want to do and don't worry about appeasing friends.

I could care less. We'll inevitably lose control and that will be the end of humankind.
We are hermits already, if you want to literally be one I don't see what difference it would make. We read regardless to know that we are not alone.
