"Ripoffs" that turned out better than the "real" shows

Any other examples?

Nanny 911 vs super nanny
Hardcore pawn vs pawn srars

Family Guy > Simpsons

American Dad! > Family Guy

Mr. Peanut Butter's House > Horsin' Around

No Country for Old Men > Terminator 3 to Genisys

Deep Space Nine > Babylon 5

Reno 911 > Cops

The Big Bang Theory > The IT Crowd

Joan Watson grew on me. Not even talking about Johnny Lee Miller, he is just awesome and gives life to the show.
Also the show features Sup Forums, even a recurring "character".

Doggie doggie what now?

Joan is very comfy.
I wasn't too pleased that Watson was being gender swapped at first, but Joan is a rare case of rational nice female character.

The fact they aren't trying to put her in a shitty romance with Holmes really helps.

Married with children > Modern family

Rick and Morty > Horizon

It's funny because homo shit was everywhere in BBC Sherlock.

Watson did find a waifu.
But well, Holmes is either an homo forever in the closet or a legit asexual.
Like in the books.

I shittalked the show so fucking much before it came out because I thought they made Watson a woman just so they could have them be a couple without any gay controversy, and that they'd do the typical procedural bullshit where they spend five season going "oh they love eachother but they can't be a couple... Except maybe???". I still checked the show out because of Miller and I'm so glad I did. It's only gotten better while Sherlock completely shit the bed.

>Watson did find a waifu.
Yeah that went off the rails fast. She's his wife irl so I can only imagine it was her idea to be a secret special forces spy.

that show is following the books.
And in the books Watson ends up marrying and living on his own with his wife.

>a secret special forces spy.
That was so stupid.

It was more of a parody of the books. As someone who grew up reading the original stories, finds Jeremy Brett the best Sherlock actor, I prefer Elementary. Oddly enough, it's much closer to the spirit of the original stories.

>that show is following the books.

With sherlock they literally just made doctor who again

In elementary they didn't shy away of him being a druggie and a nervous man.

Feel same way bro Miller should have been as big as Hugh got for Dr House

Big Suss.

The only people still swearing by Sherlock are faghags and just... fags. I hate that I waited until this year to watch Elementary but at least I have 5 full comfy seasons now.

REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

i think Elementary is great, but the "main story" was great for the first couple of seasons (1 and 2?) but then it got ruined by having an actoress too big playing the bad guy so they had to throw it away, and the next "main story" lines with the family drama never reached highs as high as it was at the beginnings, as much as i love Walter Bishop

i think other series like The Mentalist were able to milk the "main story" much better for more seasons

Unhappily Ever After > Married with Children

reddit > Sup Forums

I need to catch up Elementary. I was on season 3 or something I don't remember.
I remember really not liking Mycroft and the seasonal finale with him. And I didn't like Sherlock's new apprentice girl, so I dropped off.

Does post season 2 ever get as good as the season 1 finale?

How the fuck does Seth Macfaggot make a better Trek show than the official Trek show? Weird times we are living in.

Objectively true

The ending to that was a let down, come on it was that guy all along.

But... what they made isn't a trek show.

I'm not paying CBS just to watch one fucking show.

and this at least captures the spirit of Star Trek.

The Office US> The Office UK

obvious bait

Stop being such a Zelda, user.

Unhappily Ever After > Married with Children

I second this opinion.

>REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

Except they missed what actually makes Doctor Who somewhat interesting: the constantly new locales and one-off episodes.

I'm so fucking mad at the last 3 seasons of The Mentalist. And I can't physically describe how mad I am Jane didn't turn out to be John AND that Red John turned out to be a random side character from episode 3.

My theory is that the fucking hack writers didn't have to balls to make it Jane(The only logical option) because all those middle aged women watching the show wanted to see jane fuck lissbon and didn't give a fuck about the rest.

couldn't be him, the blind girl would have smelled him. but yeah it was a bit underwhelming, but i liked at least that the whole storyline made sense retroactively, and it didn't feel like they put themselves into a corner except for the character itself not living up to the hype

If you've ever watched the older star trek shows, Seth McFartjoke made a better homeage to the original series that that shit CBS came out with..

I know you're only taste of star trek has been std, but if you actually watch the older series you'll find the Orville is much the same.

>couldn't be him, the blind girl would have smelled him
Come on man, the guy swayed bosco's assistant to murder 3 police officers and mentally broke that one psychic, and you think mindfucking the lonely blind girl is out of his skillet?

Seth is actually super talented.

How the fuck did an Ameriburger Sherlock Holmes show with literal forced diversity end up not only good but better than the British one that had a full 2-year headstart?

elementary is awful. you shouldve used House instead

It didn't have Moffat writing it and cast actually good actors in the lead roles.
Cumberbatch and the Hobbit dude are overrated as fuck as actors.

>House is somehow a ripoff of a show that came out years later
Does it physically hurt being that stupid?

the descent > the cave
and I haven't even seen the cave kek

season 5 ends with a very intriguing cliffhanger, really curious to see where they will go with it

Is Elementary a rip off of the BBC's Sherlock? Or are they just both based off the same source material but set in modern times.

I think Red John was present every season. Maybe even first episode, or at least in one of the 3 first episodes

the latter
american sherlock isn't a super genius, no mind palace bullshit, no 4d chess crap. his genius has limits and he has flaws as a character, the whole thing is just more down to earth and relatable. and comfy

I've enjoyed Orville so far, but how is it you motherfuckers aren't chimping out about the stronk wymn and cucked infidelity apologist themes?

Because we're adults now, so we stopped giving a shit.

Moffat can't write, he's in a job because the BBC as a company is fueled by nepotism and carried by a few big hitting shows (Top Gear, Doctor Who, Antiques Roadshow)

Fuck I remember watching the first season of Elementary and liking it but I just forgot it. Did they force romance between him and watson?

Agreed

Sherlock made the genius move of setting the Sherlock holmes stories in the modern age and got lauded for it. Then after it got popular CBS just happened to also make a show about Sherlock set in the modern age... It was most definitely a ripoff. If it had come out at any time except when Sherlock was the hottest thing on tv they might have had a cover, but they couldn't wait.

die in a fire

>Did they force romance between him and watson?
Nope, he fucks prostitutes and isn't afraid of anything.

Because he made a Star Trek show, not a space-war show with Star Trek names plastered over it.

X-Cops > Cops

Farscape > Voyager > shit > Andromeda

Red Green > This Old House

The PJs > The Simpsons

Nope.

Crusade > B5

stronk wymn isn't about having women in your show. It's only annoying if they are portrayed in a ridiculous reality warping way. The women in the Orville are just likable female characters who have strengths and flaws and aren't used to push some shitty agenda.

The Sneedsons > The Simpsons

and sorry,is already a forced meme

>Family Guy > Simpsons
family guy and the simpsons are no different.

they made peter super obese to make up for the fact that americans are even fatter than before.

Z Nation is genuinely better than most zombie/post apocalypse shows and movies

Brits should just stop doing Holmes.
They got schooled in the 80's how to do it and they still mess it up

Hasn't Elementary been going longer than Sherlock?

Stranger Things > Stand By Me

get out
out out out

>Top Gear
How is that show still alive without the original lad pack of Clarkson, May and Hammond?

It isn't, really.

Moffet is a fuck head. I can't even begin to express completely how garbage sherlock is.

>tfw no Lucy Liu waifu

>tfw no autistic software-engineerfu to take to cat cafes
