Why is it so bad guys? What went wrong?

Why is it so bad guys? What went wrong?

brandon graham is terrible at publishing

But Prophet...

he didnt have much to do with the publishing side

GAY

FURRY

It's pretentious
Even if there's an audience, it's niche at the best.

I actually like pretentious indie shit but I still couldn't find anything to enjoy apart from Ancestor and a Land Called Tarot (which is scenery porn, not a story)

Brandon's twitter is funnier than his comics.

I like Island.

This is the most second hand embarrassment I've ever felt

>What went wrong?
Every "Let's fix comics" thread on Sup Forums where Sup Forumsmrades say that anthologies will fix comics, but then they refuse to buy any.

pirates will always be pirates.

I doubt it even gets pirated much. It's too niche and doesn't contain any "Big Names" (ie people who've worked at the Big Two).

furries

Too much time between a story installments (typical for image I guess) making it stupid to follow the story in serialized form, a lot of stories are mediocre anyway, and the increasing amount of gay fury shit

I dig it. but then again I've been following anything Graham does since the porn comics days

Also the price point of $8 is only worth it if you actually like everything in the issue. You could be splitting that between 2 comics you really like, or save it since it's more than half a tpb price

That's some pretty nicely drawn androgynous buttfucking tho'

I love it. Have enjoyed Brandon and Emma's curation thus far. Grim Wilkins is new to me and that Mirenda stuff is like Arzach all over again.

He is outright doing fan art of his favorite transsexual porn stars.

Natalie Mars, Sue Lightning, Miran, he has good taste too.

>living the nightmare

Anthologies are always a risk, but I generally trust Brandon and Emma's curatorial decisions. Doxy furfaggotry was its lowest point tho

Like others said I think the fact serials are broken up across issues really hurts it and essentially makes it completely inaccessible if you haven't been buying it since #1. Nobody wants that kinda commitment to an already very risque anthology

Any compilation with standards low enough to include art and writing as terrible as Onta's shit is doomed to fail. Also, any comic that ever includes trannies is fucking garbage.

*upboats*

>Also, any comic that ever includes trannies is fucking garbage.

But user, I jerk off to comics with trannies.

you didn't like the invisibles?

The rest of the covers, for comparison.

>I jerk off to comics with trannies.
If you're going to go that route, at least use the more accurate terminology. Shemales are for porn. Trannies are for disdain and ridicule because they make comics about how hard their first world lives are.

What the hell is Island anyway? A compilation of random indie stories that then go nowhere? Sort of like the old What-a-cartoon show from the 90s, where they showcase random show pilots in hopes of them being picked up?

Has anything been picked up from Island so far?

I only checked it out for Balst, but even that was mediocre, and it was done like half a year later after I heard it'll be in the book.

It's just an anthology, all the stories are done in Island, not pilots. I don't think anything's been left incomplete yet but Simon Roy's comic took over a year for a 3 part story. Other things have trades released already so it depends on the creators

It's not about getting picked up. The stories in Island are self-contained.

It's not like Dark Horse Presents, which is just an advertisement catalog.
>Read the continuing adventures of This Character in "This Character" #1, on sale next month!

The comics are just underwhelming. Any good stuff is buried in crap that isn't worth sifting through.

>one of these things is not like the other things

Deciding it should be three 20 page stories instead of a bunch of smaller installments. I dropped Island the first time I got to an issue where I hated everything in it it was issue 3

Still bought the trade for Habitat and will get Tarot too

Given that it's Graham, I';m surprised there aren't more cheesecakey covers, gay, furry, or not.

He took on way too much at once

When Island first launched he was finishing up Prophet, working on his Adventure Time episode, doing Multiple Warheads, working on a second art book, putting together 8House, doing art books for a kickstarter that never got delivered and that book is now being combined with the previous art book and the kickstarter people are getting them like 2-3 years late

I love the dude's work, King City got me into comics, but motherfucker needs to settle down and focus on one or two projects.

Liefeld's side handled the publishing.

Nothing? Sorry you don't get anthologies.

>kickstarter people are getting them like 2-3 years late
>tfw you're one of them

At least I got a sweet Simon Roy postcard

Also it sounds like he's gonna knuckle down and focus on his next 'King City', whatever that's gonna be
