Elaborate for me. Most artists draw porn or at least some form of it, yet it's supposedly frowned upon to do so if you're in the industry. And yet, some artists have gotten hired due to their ability to draw sexy girls. So, which is it? Are you allowed to draw porn in your spare time or not? Why does an artist have to hide their art off the clock?

I know I posted a Timm pin-up not straight up porn, but you know, not allowed on blue boards.

>frowned upon to do so if you're in the industry
Says who? Seems like most people do it in there free time, but don't take up actual porn jobs.

Welp, América.

Theres lots of jap artists in japland who Drew smut and can still work on the medium and no one judges them.

Here's the thing about porn in Western culture. Everyone knows about it. Most people enjoy it. Everyone has seen it. But it's taboo. That pretty much means, by definition, you're supposed to pretend like it doesn't exist. Anyone who gets caught violating the taboo is ostracized. It may be illogical but that's how it works.

Brandon Graham springs to mind.

I visited the Film Roman studios a few years ago where the Simpsons is animated, and they had naughty drawings tacked up all over the place.

It's really simple. It's socially acceptable to draw socially acceptable porn. I.E. softcore between 2 consenting adults, some light normie fetish stuff etc. The more fucked up or niché porn you draw, naturally the more it will be frowned upon.

Naked sexy chicks and pin-up stuff is at the very top of socially acceptable "porn" and virtually no one would give any artist shit for that, especially considering how normal it is for artists to draw the naked figure for training purpose.

Of the Simpsons?

Who draws straight-up porn? I think most people just draw sexy pin-ups or goofy "rude" cartoons, not a dozen or so huge veiny cocks spurting baby batter all over the thighs of big muscular Amazonian princess but I hope I'm wrong...

Oh, you are wrong. Very, very wrong.

most of it never seems to be really hardcore

Or the hardcore stuff is never made public.

Cooties are real and the number one killer of white male protestant Anglo-Saxon boys, user.

Supporting porn means supporting White Genocide.

It's funny because a jap artist who drew a doujin of She-hulk got hired by Marvel to draw a She-hulk cover

Jap privilege, man

Most of the big ones use a soubriquet or release the porn in a circle rather than solo. Like the guy who did Black Lagoon.

>it's supposedly frowned upon to do so if you're in the industry
no it isn't. you're not allowed to make porn on the company clock but that's different

nudes =/= porn

He also continued to draw smut, of his own damned series too.

Though the best was the faux-behind the scenes one.

Everyone knows Rebecca Sugar drew shotacon porn yet CN still hired her, seems like no one gives a shit anymore

I mean these guys are in the industry, how the fuck do they think we aspiring artists even learn to draw in the first place?

You have to draw people naked for almost five years before you can actually draw a correct looking human being.

enf is straight up fetish porn. its created, distributed, and shared as such

So is softcore but in the end what matters is packaging

This. I can see how a lot of Sup Forums can't tell the difference and gets this confused, though.

>Why does an artist have to hide their art off the clock?
The problem is normies. No one but managers and soccermoms care that you're drawing porn. Also that is a problem specific to the US, in europe or asia no one gives a fuck but right-wing conservatives.

Just because some people create enf to appeal to a specific fetish doesn't mean all instances of it are pornographic.

Americans embracing their puritan ancestry.

why it's frowned upon, three different reasons:
- there's a vanishingly small but noisy minority that get genuinely upset about prawn. They believe people who drawn porn are somehow damaged in the head, and these damaged people will have influence over children via comic books or cartoons. These people genuinely believe children will be harmed. I'll repeat these people are a stupidly small fraction of the population.
- Then there's the people who want to wreck anyone famous because it makes them feel better about themselves, or they'll gain status among their peers as a "virtuous person." They'll pretend to be part of the first group, but they are insincere -- if you ever had a look at their browser history it would be filthy as hell. These people vastly outnumber the first group and put in much more effort.
- Then there's the people who are actually _in_ the industry, fellow artists and peers, who will warn you not to publish porn, because you will have so much demand for it that you won't get a chance to do anything else. You'll be "the porn guy," and when you try to do something ambitious you will get a tepid reception and requests for more porn.

Note that only the first group will genuinely tell you to stop drawing porn. The second group will tell everyone ELSE you should stop drawing porn, but will ask you to draw porn when nobody's looking. The third group will encourage you to draw porn but advise you to hide it or only share with a close circle of friends (not Facebook or G+ for godssake).

Everybody FAPS.

But most people dont want to see you fapping, or the detaiuls that you fap.

in other words, a group of Helen Lovejoys

Feeling a real sense of Poe's Law rn

That's actually a good point. The porn stuff will follow you forever, and hoes ain't loyal. Moment you stop drawing it, they'll drop you.

>lubrication service

>you will have so much demand for it that you won't get a chance to do anything else. You'll be "the porn guy,"

But....I wanted to draw porn to make some extra money on the side.... :/

>read random french WWI comic ages ago
>halfway through an issue this guy is fucking someone on an aircraft while flying around
>before they finish she gets shot by some german in another biplane
It was a wild ride.

Nice Vampirella

So pretty much

>The left wing
>The sensible ones

>So, which is it?
Doesn't matter. The only thing that matters is nepotism.
