It would need to be birthed after some kind of great regional war, perhaps part of a large global conflict, and those simply don't happen any more. The best they might look forward to is some kind of rump state in N.Iraq after that state breaks apart into ethnic enclaves. Of course, that kind of situation leaves them ringed in and under a great deal of pressure by Iranian backed Shiites.

An independent Iraqi Kurdistan seems like only a matter of time. Rojava-North Syria is de facto independent right now, but they hate the dominant faction in the KRG and who knows if they'll survive the war.
But Syrian and Iraqi Kurds aren't gonna unite, and barring Iran and Turkey turning into failed states their Kurdish neighbors won't join them.

Turkey will probably fuck the syrian kurds over in the coming months. As for the iraqis, there might be a chance but I don1t thing the iraqi govt would be willing to give them independence, so we might see a civil war between the govt and kurd separatists. Iranis will never be able to split. The Irani govt is way too powerful for that.
