I was hooked in by the end of episode 2, but for the first half it pretty much seemed like a well-done version of "House of Cards" in the Vatican. In the last three episodes it all changes, and elevates into something really special.
I probably still would've liked it if it'd maintained the tone of the first through episodes throughout, but I wouldn't have put it on my all-time top tier. It's probably overhyped at this point, but I really loved it. I hadn't cried at a movie or show since I was a little kid, but one particular scene in the ninth episode got me pretty fucking good.

It's interesting but as an italian is just too unrealistic for me to care, it borders on capeshit. In modern history there were two popes that tried to change things in the Vatican, namely the IOR, their bank that is behind a lot of money laundering schemes and that recycled Mafia money to fund Solidarnosch and other anti-communists:
