that's kinda the point right? they're not meant to be hot

she's a good actress, so it works

she actually looks the part of a dried up hooker.

yeah, which is why her entire arc is getting the fuck out of being a hooker and into the porn industry

i'm enjoying the series, i even warmed to james franco's weird double act

His double act is very believable

>current year
>watching contemporary TV

This is much better than Treme. Couldn't get into that. Too meandering with too many long jazz sets for no reason.

I really liked Treme, but yeah, not for everyone. This is slower than it looks but every scene has something going on that moves the plot forward, where Treme was more of a atmosphere piece.

Fun seeing the Simon regulars pop up everywhere, too.

are you guys too young for poidh ?

kinda sad that this doesn't have regular threads on Sup Forums, it's a new david simon show and it's fucking great to discuss it because it's funny as hell

>and cocks

if anyone ever had an argument for "make you gay"

the only intimate and romantic sex scene was the gay threesome, seriously.

It'll pick up steam. The Wire doesn't really grab people till like the third season usually, myself included. This one is starting off much more accessible, but it's still likely (and hopefully) to grow in scope. Although I'd be surprised if it ended up being better. The Wire's premise was so broad, I hope I'm wrong, but with both this and Treme it feels like the narrowness of the premise is going to hold it back from achieving something like The Wire.

I don't know, I feel like that unless you're a David Simon fan, you're just not gonna watch this

Many of the Wire fans left after Treme was too boring for them, and even though I Need A Hero was great, no-one watched that either

did it get good, i haven't watched since the second episode

Is this from the guy who made The Wire? I would imagine it would have got a lot of hype since many keep regarding it as the best show ever

People famously don't watch David Simon shows, only long after they air, and David Simon then gets to complain about that in interviews.

It's for the best. We don't need cancerous generals and meme humor infecting this show. I'm fine with the occasional thread every few days to discuss it.

yes

this show is fucking garbage. its death knell was two francos lmao

Pretty accurate synopsis. Is this thread meant to be merely informative or were you trying to make some sort of point?

ONE

NOTHIN WRONG WITH ME

Sounds like you enjoyed the scene.

>still shilling this degenerate garbage
I wonder why the Jew that created this trash didn't make it a series about degenerate NYC Jews instead of white people?

>David Judah Simon, the son of Dorothy Simon (née Ligeti), a homemaker, and Bernard Simon, a former journalist and then public relations director for B'nai B'rith for 20 years.
>Bnai Brith International - The Global Voice of the Jewish Community.

Degenerate pieces of garbage intentionally corrupting our society, and culture, with their filth.

Go back to Sup Forums you fucking nerd

I'm from Louisiana and I couldn't get into Treme. Plenty of locals loved it because it had lots of luminary New Orleans meme people in it, but I just didn't give a fuck about the story at all. It's cool to see places I've actually been to and hung out at on a TV show, but whatever.

>Too meandering with too many long jazz sets for no reason.
Those are the reasons I loved Treme. The musical numbers, the meandering storytelling, the cast of characters, the unique setting.

To each their own, though. No way that show was going to take off and I'm surprised it wasn't cancelled after one season.

>I Need A Hero
Never even heard of this. Can't find on IMDb. Enlighten me, user.

I find the show pretty enjoyable. All the characters seem pretty well rounded but I hate this thing that always happens in period pieces where one of the characters it attached to some major historical event in some minor way. Like I get the gay dude in James Franco's bar is attatched to Stonewall, and it seems believable, but I mean what are the odds, ya know? I guess I'm kinda torn between the shows need for historical legitamacy and whether or not that breaks my illusion. ya know?

It's called Show Me a Hero

That's weird.

The entire show is based on true events and real people, you pleb.

>Show Me a Hero
Thanks, gonna check this out.

I remember David Simon saying that in one of those "Inside the episode" videos. I guess truth really is stranger than fiction.

with all honesty, I think if anyone was serious about NO FAP, I would tell them to watch The Deuce.

You would NOT want to have any sexual thoughts after seeing any episode with Maggie Melted rubber tits Gaggenhall

This episode of the Rialto Report podcast is really interesting if you're at all curious about the backstory of the show.

therialtoreport.com/2017/09/03/the-deuce-3/

The people who do that podcast also worked as advisors on The Deuce, because they are experts on the "golden age of porn."

t. Virgin

Its actually his brother Dave except with some makeup and cgi

>I'm from Louisiana
the real point of Treme was the story of American communities. New Orleans / Katrina was just the backdrop to tell the story of the war for your neighborhood in our homogenized culture. What makes/made New Orleans special wasn't music or food, it was that each block represents something steeped in tradition (of knowing your neighbors). We've lost a good bit of that with strip malls, outside construction interests and AirBnB

The Deuce is better than anything else right now, but it just meanders. The two Francos make it retarded and I can't help but think VINYL did this scene much better (and I wasn't a fan of VINYL, either, at the time)

Bookmarked. I don't usually listen to podcasts but I'll definitely check this out. Who's your favorite character? I'm glad they got the guy who played Frank Sobatka on the wire playing another construction worker, I like his character for that, pleb as it may be.

She's disgusting. This show makes you feel dirty. Not sexy at all. I agree with your statement.

I caught the first episode of this and right from the start it pissed me off. I can't stand period pieces because all they do is take modern issues and change the names. Look, they're talking about Nixon, but really it's Trump!!!! Stop. You're not clever.

>You're not clever.

I hear you, and I know how much New Orleans has lost. My wife is from New Orleans and I'm from Baton Rouge. She lived through Katrina in the city and believe me, we know very well that only the hipsters came home afterwards. The city is forever changed, for many reasons and will never be the same. Part of what I didn't like about Treme may have been not wanting to be reminded of that on a weekly basis. Maybe I can try again with that show later on.

I seriously thought they only created the character of Frankie to introduce Vinnie into the mob but they have done a good job at fleshing out both characters.

Do I have to wanna fuck every single female character I see on a tv show/film?

I'm two eps behind, but aside from Candy and the two Francos I have to say currently my favorite character is that big based black dude that randomly showed up at the bar.

The only plotline on this show I can seem to care about is James Franco getting his bar up and running.

Frankie and Vinny are based on real-life dudes Steve and Johnny d’Agrosa.

Of course user. How can you relate to someone if you don't find them attractive? It's not like they're a human being or something.

it's pretty much treme v2.0

treme started off somewhat interesting, there was nothing like it on tv, but then it just turned into forced drama and stupid music bullshit. i can easily see the same thing happening to this, there's nothing really driving this show forward, it's just grimy porno hooker shit and that will get old quickly.

It's the best Simon project since Generation Kill by a wide margin.

>how much New Orleans has lost
that show wasn't about New Orleans, though.
It could've been Lufkin, Texas or Homestead, Florida.....its about how everyone is on their own in this United States of America. Its all being amalgamated into some replicated commodity. The only thing we really have is our neighborhoods of neighbors and families, that makes us distinct....and human.

That, is what Treme was trying to convey.

New Orleans just made a real convenient plot device.

What The Deuce will do is open young folks about how far we've come with morality (feminism/homos) that allows us the freedom we take for granted today and the politics involved in any city landscape that morphs based on corporate investment

>Frankie and Vinny are based on real-life dudes Steve and Johnny d’Agrosa
were Steve and Johnny annoying cunts like Franco #1 and Franco #2?

what most people will take away from the deuce is that new york used to be a complete and utter deviant shithole

I honestly don't get the hate towards Franco. He does a fine job.

>complete and utter deviant shithole
again, VINYL

>hate towards Franco
the identical twin who only shows up to deliver scumbag line A or scumbag line B

its jarring.

Same hair, same mustache....he's just delivering his Vinnie BoomBats dialogue, like he is the alter ego devil on Frankie's shoulder.

My post was about New Orleans. And also about why I found it hard to watch Treme. The themes you discuss were not lost on me, but it hurt me to watch because of what my loved ones went through during and after the storm. Understand?

I don't agree with you about The Deuce, but based on some context clues in your post, I would wager that while you and I hold some of the same views, we don't really look at the world the same way.

Counterpoint

i was surprised how good those tiddies look

Yeah, she's a qt.

They should have cast Cate in this as one of the early MILF porn stars.

Why can't we have good things?

You don't know much about vintage porn, do you?

I like how Maggies boobs seemingly grow out of her stomach. Reminds me of my 60 yr old 3rd grade teacher, Mrs. Ledbetter.

so WHO was Maggie running from at her mom's house?
her dad, brother or ex?

AY YO BAHTENDA, CAN I GET A DOUBLE FRANCO ON THA ROCKS

I can't understand all the nigger talk on this show. am i racist?

This show is Jewish filth. A thoroughly debased environment and not one character with admirable spirituality. Boring and meandering trash. I'd equate a viewing to watching my dog throw up and devour its own vomit over and over and over again.

This trash will not last 2 seasons. I'm sure some of the pseuds on here enjoy having a Jew fart in their face for over 500 hours though. They call it "art". What a laugh.

This woman looks like she's from a long lost line of humans interbred with an archaic human species

Yes.

I watch it with subtitles on, lots of the characters mumble

yet another trash show that i keep watching simply because theres not much else
