This, plus you run into the issue of people in academia (especially academia in bullshit topics like the classics or psychology, so definitely not necessarily smart people) are relatively out of touch. I realize that's a conservative meme, but many of them lack practical knowledge and are unable to consider that things may be different in practice than in theory (why communism is so common).

On top of this, having a PhD in Central European History doesn't make you an expert on economics/finance (therefore this person wouldn't be able to see through Bernie Sanders' largely inaccurate or misleading, glittering generalities). You know who didn't vote for Sanders? People with degrees in finance/economics.
