Jake in Nightcrawler is more of a socio/borderline psychopath than autistic
Sup Forums
Le Samourai
The Driver
Taxi Driver
High Fidelity
wanna fight
Daily reminder that Nightcrawler is a reddit favorite.
Blade Runner 2049 (2017, Villeneuve)
I wish there was a good Eliott Rodgers movie to close the Driving Autism triology.
Taxi Driver is the only one that's actually a good movie.
What makes a movie reddit?
Why do people here like to exagerate?
Le Samourai's protagonist has schizoid personality disorder according to the director, its 10/10 kino though
would movies like Angst and I Stand Alone count?
If I liked drive would I like nightcrawler?
Yeah, give it a watch.
Angst maybe.
Rain Man
this.
Night Crawler is way closer to American Psycho than it is Drive
why are drive's eyes looking 2 different ways
Will do then.
quips, 4th wall breaks, pop culture references, happy endings, moralfagging
nightcrawler had none of those...
None of that is present in Nightcrawler, though.
...
So why is BR2049 reddit (the only criticism of the film I've seen over the last few days) if it doesn't do any of these things?
This is just the most recent example btw, plenty of films that have none of those things get called reddit. Why not just admit that it's a codeword for both "things I don't like" and "things a lot of people like"
Didn't he get away with everything, and found enough success he was able to expand his organization, with more staff, multiple vans, uniforms, and shit?
I BABY DRIVE
Then Nightcrawler isn't reddit. I used to browse /fa/ and remember them loving it.
the goose is so cool he doesn't even bother focusing his eyes. it's next level alpha
>the psychopath gets away with everything
>a happy ending
are you suggesting that a sociopath running amok is a "happy ending" just because he was the protagonist? are you twelve?
>moralfagging
It was devoid of morality, it was just an ambitious psychopath playing everyone and everything within his reach the second he got something over them.
Silent-loner types - the trilogy. Both The Driver and Drive take significant influence and homage from Le Samourai.
...
God, he's such a piece of shit, I love it
how fucking dare you put Le samuraï together with fucking drive and driver
lmao these were my 2 favourite movies at one point
>this is your brain on /teevee/
What's the problem? Both of them are inspired from it.
Add Blade Runner 2049 to those.
i can't believe that is an actual clip from the movie. could they have made him any more irritating?
Moralfagging is not reddit you moron. Edgy nihilism and fedora atheism is.
Literally
is everything that's Noir autism?
...
Millennial retards are oversocialised to the point where anything even remotely introspective and subdued is labeled "autistic".
Both are you fucking cuck faggot.
Roman J. Israel, Esq. looks like its going to be good
deadpool
This.
So is Drive.
Definitely autism-core
Nightcrawler: MC uses his autism for evil
Drive: MC uses his autism for good
This scene with no sound is very surreal
An actual autistic person isn’t capable of what Jake did in Nightcrawler. He was a psychopath, not autistic as others have pointed out.
Hahahahahahaha fuck. This movie was brutal
Just seeing that gif made me want to watch it again. Great film.
Not even a high functioning autist? I don't see why an autist can't also be a sociopath.
socio/psychopaths are highly social people with a penchant for manipulation, pragmatic networking, etc, the opposite of autists. nice trips tho
this is not true
this
everyone is different, some just want to harm others for no reason.
that's what the definition of a sociopath is.
...
Why are you so bent on Lou Bloom being autistic?
I don't think it's necessarily introspection. Any kind of thought the speaker is too lazy/stupid to do is autistic.
Um, sweaties. I think you are Gay for Gosling and not just fans.
Because of the awkward as fuck way he talks to people. Especially the dinner scene with that news reporter lady.
wouldn't say he was an autist
this guy is mostly right but considering how sociopaths lack the ability to set long term goals the guy in nightcrawler cannot possibly be a sociopath as he quite clearly has a long term goal and he builds up his enterprise from ground up
what i would say he has however is conduct disorder as he has little consideration of other peoples well being and have no problems breaking laws or societal norms to get what he wants
>awkward
>dinner scene
he was being manipulative
>Another website likes it is the sole reason for me hating it
Pathetic
What is it about autism and cars?
>Drive
>Taxi Driver
>The Driver
>Baby Driver
autists are more relatable as they don't go off explaining their emotions every minute
>What is it about autism and cars?
Car go fast big wroom engine is cool it's all mechanical do you know how an engine works I can pick one apart and put it together it uses fuel to make the pistons move and then it drives power to the crank shaft and the wheel turns did you know the best car is a Koenigsegg because it's the fastest I also like trains.
You seem like those women who loves bad boys even tho they know theyre only using them.
Do you got daddy issues?
Awkward in a sociopath sense because he can’t actually relate to people. It’s in the same realm but absolutely nothing about the character indicates autism. Especially not in the way that Sup Forums uses the word.
None of those characters could be described as autistic.
>Travis Bickle isn't a high functioning autist
he was manipulating her to fuck him, you retard
you think an autistic person would know how to do that? no he wouldnt
use your fucking brain sometimes
The last thing I enjoyed that was universally Sup Forums was American Psycho. Brotip : don't like stuff to fit in.
Hopefully no one over the age of 20 on engages in Reddit vs Sup Forums console war faggotry. I’d like to think it’s just dumbshit teens but probably not.
on Sup Forums*
So what is the guy in Taxi Driver then?
Just a paranoid lonely person?
Not him but i heard he's supposed to have schizoid personality disorder which is similar but differs from Aspergers in emotional processing
>Jake in Nightcrawler is more of a socio/borderline psychopath than autistic
The movie is about using autism for evil.
If you think autists are drawn to cars, you should see the planes crowd.
Trains are even worse.
Why do people even like trains? Cars can do some slick moves and planes can fly and roll and do all sorts of maneuvers, but trains have to stay on a track. In terms of the vehicle-to-autists spectrum, trains seem to attract the most turbo autists around.
They're huge, they're powerful, they're marvels of engineering. I think that's the appeal. They're just impressive. Amtrak trains are pretty boring but big ass freight trains or steam engines can just plow their way through anything.
Tracks mean trains are predictable. They run on schedule, to the same locations. You can trust them. Don't underestimate the power of clearly prescribed limits to an autistic child.
one of my favorite genres of youtube videos is watching train enthusiasts get hype waiting for a certain type train to roll by

i-i like it
A reddit flick is a movie that picks niche concepts, dumbs them down puts them in a nice package and presents them to the general public. It lacks any real depth and is enjoyable by the general public.
So an average person can go to a film and think they are smart for understanding it and brag about it.
In short a popculture film pretends to be more than it is.
Usually people who reads books and have intellectual depth are immune to reddit flicks. They might still enjoy them, but they'll never love them or put them on a pedestal like the average person.
Mr.Robot, Inception, Drive, BR2049 are examples of essential Redditcore.
drive will always be Sup Forumscore, fuck off you tourist
Absolute autism kino, it even has Goose as the autist
No it isn’t.
>google is your friend
Is there a lost of all this "lonely hero gets last chance at meaning, art action" list. I dont know what to call it but i love those movies. You k ow the type, loner guy ,has to save someone.
Like Drive, Only God Forgives, Blade Runner 2049.
Wait why does Ryan Gosling always end up in this roles?
>High Fidelity
Excellent taste
How was John Cusack’s character autistic though?
