Riz Ahmed in Talks to Star in Netflix's 'Hamlet'

>Riz Ahmed is in talks to star in contemporary retelling of Hamlet, which is set up at Netflix.

>Ahmed developed the story with screenwriter Mike Lesslie, who wrote 2015's Macbeth that starred Michael Fassbender. The duo, who have known each other since their days at university, have been working on the project for years.

>The adaptation is set in modern-day London, complete with economic and political uncertainty. Jim Wilson (Under the Skin) will produce.

Ah that makes sense

As long as it's the unabridged Hamlet

I liked Macbeth for Fassbender's performance and the visuals but it was a very thin chopped-up adaptation.

Hopefully since its Netflix they'll have more scope than a theatrical release.

How new are you, OP? There are literally hundreds of thousands of Hamlets around the globe, I'm sure at least a few thousand were non-white

is the mexican demo really that big?

we're due for a new big hamlet thing and riz ahmed is good so it sounds interesting.

>it's a "contemporary retelling of shakespeare" episode

Shakespeare has been adapted into a billion different settings and eras. I once saw midsummer night's dream by an all indian cast and it was alright. Who gives a fuck if this one setting doesn't have a white guy as hamlet? How is this worse than when baz luhrmann set r+j in fake 80s miami?
