Has Evangelion influenced western cinema?

Yeah - it gave us the classic Pacific Rim
BRAVO Anno!
probably not because there hasn't been a single piece of fictional or non-fictional media that has come close to the emotional and psychological depth that evangelion has.
much of Eva's psychological impact has to do with the fact that they never shy away from making the characters suffer
the japanese sure are subtle about their symbolism
Del Toro haven't seen evangelion
would love to see an American remake just to see how bad they fuck it up
It really depends on the director. A western adaptation has been thrown around a lot in Hollywood -- they just need someone who's actually willing to watch Evangelion and see it for what it is. I could easily imagine this being Denis Vlilenevue
>Around 80% of American's believe in God
>Show about "Angels" trying to destroy humanity
Yeah, that would work here.
and Peter Jackson hadn't seen Ralph Bakshi's Lord of the Rings, right? :)
Twin Peaks desu
this is the most r/movies post i've ever seen, congratulations
>what is the rapture
just call it the end of days and its practically canon
There nothing like angels, aside form the names. All the religous symbolism in Eva is superfical.
>Interacting/being intimate with people is hard and it can hurt but it's worth it
So deep.
this
there wouldnt be any western cinema without Evangelion
To be fair...
etc etc
>pretrib rapture
Schoefieldism is a myth.
The Christian symbolism is a misdirect though. It has no meaning
