It's a lighthearted Star Trek TNG.

No one wants more old school Trek. No one but the diehards. And catering to diehards will get you nowhere, as evidenced by ST Beyond bombing.

It's like TNG with dick jokes. It's a sci-fi dramedy.

It would take a massive ratings collapse for Orville to get cancelled. It does decently, especially for Fox standards and against tough competition, and makes up alot of numbers of delayed and online viewing.

I like that Isaac explained that his eyes were cosmetic. That was neat.

I like to think Alara's eyebrows are cosmetic too. She started wearing them to better blend in with her mostly-human crew. Would be a neat explanation for the discrepancy between the pilot and the rest of the episodes.

Do you really think diehards who love TNG and DS9 will love Orville ? It's just a retarded version.

My headcanon is that for her species, eyebrows are a fashion choice, just like earrings for humans. With their advanced medical technology, they could regrow eyebrows in seconds with a fancy laser, so you could choose if you'd want eyebrows that day or not.
