I had the pleasure of watching this in the theater with an audience not long ago. When I watched it with a normie friend some years ago, the triggering thing is the shooting of the still-pretty-normal dog. Powerful. Even the audience still registered some disgust with that.

But right-on-cue, the more disturbing scene was the one later during the blood-test scene where the guys just nick their thumbs and produce a good amount of fake blood using hidden squibs. This got a noticeable reaction from the audience and I muttered knowingly to anyone within earshot, "a stupid little squib, that's the one people can't take."

BIG IMPORTANT QUESTION: Two doggos were left for some time before being completely destroyed by Blair, later.

Were these remaining doggos things? Hm?

I bet you never thought about that before, huh?

it would make sense if they were, but the thing would have had to work pretty fast to copy them fully

>tfw completely selfish coward
>would never, under any circumstance, risk my life to help another being, man woman or child
>any time i see a dog in peril i have an overwhelming urge to protect it any cost including my own horrific death
why is this? why do i not give a shit about my own species but want to die for another species?

Any killing scene in Scanner cop 2

More autism: when I see these movies on the big screen, I always register something new: During this theatrical screening, for the very first time, I registered the fact that in an early scene, Bennings was limping over to the table to advise the men about the weather patterns-because he'd just been shot. I hadn't consciously noticed that before, always sort of subconsciously thinking "oh he's just sauntering up in a funny way", not connecting it to the shooting. The value of a big screening.

ALSO: the "They Aren't Labeled, Chum!" poster features a gal with a smaller sign which I'd never read before, but could clearly see this time: "I have V.D.". Hammering home the V.D./AIDS metaphor.

I love it when know-it-all assholes announce to strangers that they have rudimentary knowledge about how movies are made

Justifiable misanthropy/knowledge of how awful humans can be, coupled with a desire to protect cute/mutually beneficial organisms.

C'mon, there's no way in fucking hell you'd run and try to save doggos as they were getting Thing'd

You're confusing "muttering to anyone within earshot" during a loud theater screening, with pointedly turning to any stranger in particular and loudly/pointedly describing what's happening. You want to read-in your own asshole on me, which was really only minor, and not major (a loud, slightly raucous theater screening, mind you).

The point is that the the simplicity of the later effect is absurd in its disturbing effect given what's come before. I did register a few nervous titters around me picking up on the truth of my mutterings, then I shut up again - this was the front-row crowd, after all. One fairly cute chickie even had a movie poster badge on her punk rock denim jacket, among other horror flicks.

I am still confused. So every single person the Thing replaces. Does it infect them from within and they go all monstery and then revert to their form or does the Thing individually kill each person and just consume their biomass and spit out another thing?

I feel the same way the majority of the time.
I can watch horrific accidents and see people and kids getting mangled all over the place, and I just sip my coffee and move on.
But then I watch that one video of the dude stopping his bike to pick up this kitten that'd gotten ran over, but was still alive, and I start blubbering like a bitch

There was a movie where an abomination ate a guy while some people watched. The group shots the monster and the guy who was eaten comes out half digested. Fucking disturbing

our psychology isn't exactly a perfect match for our genetics user
there is a lot of scary shit in there and people are perfectly capable of being happy bakers for most of their lives
living in hellworld makes it easy to discount other people
dogs are "people" as far as empathy goes imo, people who abuse animals evoke a pretty universal sense of disgust and hatred in humans that aren't completely whipped or sleep deprived or both. they have earned our trust, and unlike horses they are smaller than us and deserve our love and protection
cats are also ok but I will go into that another time

Sounds like one of the Feast movies

deep rising, i liked that movie as a kid

>Feast
Oh god wasn't that the one where the midget monster creature literally face fucked some roastie and came down her throat?

From what I understand it can do either. It clearly is trying the whole "eat and reproduce" thing with the doggos, but Ginger fuck and not-MacReady both get infected from being attacked/bitten.

Yeah it's deep rising. I shouldn't have watched that again. Fuck

Yup. I know these kinds of films will be made for the sake of making it but jesus christ. What kind of degenerate faggots write this shit and then get people to actually play it out?

They don't do horror like this anymore. This makes my skin crawl every time

>Video it's blocked
Wtf

>this is literally solution epsilon
