Paul Allen was superior to Patrick Bateman

Paul Allen was superior to Patrick Bateman

he could get a res at Dorsia (great sea urchin ceviche)
he was handling the Fisher account
he had a better business card
he even had a tanning bed at home

prove me wrong

uh ok

repeating digits

he was, but not for long hehe

Obviously, that's why Bateman had to kill him, because he couldn't stand being so effortlessly outdone in every way.

...

Paul Allen ended up fine though. He was clearly seen eating in London and was never killed. Allen won in the end.

>still no dubs

but he was part of that whole "Yale" thing

he didn't kill him

what whole "Yale" thing...

never noticed how kino suspenders are until this film

Well, for one thing, he was probably a closet homosexual who did a lot of cocaine. That whole Yale thing.

>Paul Allen was superior to Patrick Bateman
>superior
>part of the whole yale thing
yeah no

the whole 80s style presented in the movie is very kino indeed

the entire movie is a work of fiction, based on a book written by a faggot, so none of it actually happened in reality or really matters.

i only watched the movie and never cared for the book or anything by that author. and i guess the main takeaway message is that life is empty and meaningless even when you're wealthy and living in the financial capital of the world in the 80's with pussy and leisure time at your disposal. this is what was displayed. you will always feel inadequate if you have that mindset. and that's why people like elliot fucking rodger loved this film. and that's why for a long time i also liked the movie. because people like us, for whatever reason, have some inferiority complex and we make ourselves unhappy when we compare ourselves to others who seem to do better, like paul allen.

so whether or not he was actually a homicidal psycho-path...by the end it's left vague as if he imagined it all, because they have full control over the narrative, it's their little story and according to the official cannon, he may or may not have done anything. if he did do those things, he was bailed out due to his wealth and status.

also, to go beyond that analysis, look to the fact that Bateman is clearly bored of his lifestyle, even though he has access to near-limitless stimulation in the city life (drugs, high end whores, fine food, clubs, music etc.).

when he's shown doing murders and shit, it's really a "return to pre-modern" savagery. back in the day if you wanted something you would just take it and kill whoever had what you wanted, or you'd just rayp women and sometimes murder them too. it was lawless, before society, and even during society back in the middle ages and in the wild west. this is what he craves, and this is what many men crave, because we are biologically still 99% similar to our past ancestors, who were savages.

the overly-civilized way of life has made him bored and soft. even though he exercises regularly and has muscular physique, it's not even being used for physical exertion. so he has to do weird shit like stealth-kill hobos and chase hookers around the staircase for stimulus that harkens back to more savage times.

lastly,:
they make a point to show that everyone ended up competing to the point of just copying each other, so they all basically converged into the same point of looking the same. same haircut, manner of dress and speech etc. so in the end maybe the detective saw paul allen or maybe it was someone else. who knows.

i used to work at a marketing agency, and i thought i was cool and unique by wearing a white v-neck t shirt underneath a dark grey blazer, and dark blue jeans, but then i met someone else who also dressed like that. slowly but surely, the fuckwit working in accounting also started dressing up like that too. so basically we all converged on the same style, either consciously or subconsciously.

check these

HEY PAUL

Don't forget he had a more expensive apartment

checked.

also i'd rather have bateman's life without his mind, he fucking chills in his office listening to music ad watching eating awesome food, doing drugs and seeming cool in general. Literally just has to show up and that's it. I was more perplexed at how he never got fired than the rest of the movie

his father practically owned the company

also, he was very good at socialising

Why was the old realtor lady at the end the only one who could see through Patrick? I've never understood that.

...

Very nice.

>back in the day if you wanted something you would just take it and kill whoever had what you wanted, or you'd just rayp women and sometimes murder them too.

There has literally never been a point in history where this was the case.

Trips

Where do you think the phrase "rape and pillage" came from?

It's not that she could see through Patrick. She just quickly realized he was aware of what had taken place in that apartment and wanted nothing to do with him. Doesn't mean she knew he was a psycho.

Bateman held the best wild cards though; better at mind numbing banter and superior axe skills.
