By bowing to the demands of a terrorist, let alone such a demand he is showing that anyone can make the british state do whatever the fuck they want and it is the last message a government would ever want to project into the world. It doesn't even make sense within the fictional universe they present the idea within. Sounds like somethin someone would make up for themselves afterwards to justify such a massively stupid plot. Show is sort of overrated. A lot of people went crazy about it because it's essentially very graspable/relatable satire so people watching feel both intelligent and entertained.
