FCC guidelines only apply to network TV (ABC, NBC, and CBS) but cable follows a decent amount of them because advertisers won't buy ad time on stuff that's too controversial. Private network shows on channels like HBO, Showtime, and Starz can do whatever they want because they don't rely on advertiser revenue.

Boss was great, but it showed every sign of not being able to keep that pace up. Already towards the second half of the second season his rants were getting predictable and annoying. It was cut down more or less in its prime. Frankly I'd rather HoC got the Boss treatment than Boss get the HoC treatment
