LoK general?

oh boy it's another "concept art vs CGI" thread
What is fosters home for imaginary friends for 500.
Also this.
The problem isn't the animation, but the story itself and how it developed.
If the movie took a more emotional and character driven tone, instead of focusing on action and overall silliness, it would be much better.
Also, Ginormica should have been barefoot for the whole movie
A personal favorite.
Jesus christ
...
Why there were no feet scenes in this piece of garbage movie?
I'm so glad I didn't back this or anything because holy shit, what a fucking disappointment.
pissed me off too
what a chunkarella
>Also, Ginormica should have been barefoot for the whole movie
Agreed
That, or Thundercats reboot general. Either works, really.
I want to die.
Obligatory
Looks too much like Maleficient
CGI in this movie is disgutsting
>left
>overdesigned
>complex patterns and frilly clothes makes animation more difficult
>right
>simple design
>shows enough to portray her has a shy quirky girl
>easy to animate
that show was still useable enough. there is way worse. I'll leave it to someone else to post it in case he finds this thread.
>The left design is more work to animate, what do you think I am, a professional animator??
t. Studio Pierrot employee
>>left
>>overdesigned
>>complex patterns and frilly clothes makes animation more difficult
Complex maybe for all the nu-animators coming out of CalArts.
Its literally a plain red shirt and a white apron with a cat face on it.
How the fuck is that over designed?
What was wrong with it? Most of Sup Forums liked it when this movie came out.
But I don't think there are that many people here who have been here long enough to remember back then.
It was flavor of the month trash then, and it still is now.
>Also
She is not a awkward woman trying to pay the bills with her space cat who drags her along to space too wacky adventures to find a cure to his cat form and solve why the princess left him.
>Now
She is a fat robot that does random shit. Drags along a weak minded man.
your right, a big dumpy baby person is clearly a Superior character design. dont think about the end product, think about the poor, poor creators who have to work so hard on this.
what, you want backrounds? that takes time dude, its too much work. isnt this blank white void more immersive?
you want music? thats woooooork. silence is muuch more ambient.
ytoou want dialouge? that means making a writer work and stuff. its too harrrddddd. having everyone talk like onions dad from steven universe is much more fair on the poor overworked voice actors.
aseveni m havingg to work too ahrd rt ooo write this commentttt please stoppp :(
>you
>Those 70's and '80's designs.
Kinda happier with the real Elsa.
It's shit
>unlikeable characters
>annoying characters
>story is a mess
>action scenes are not interesting
>jokes are lame and annoying
>no feet

By the finale she looked much better than how she did in the rest of the series. Still not sure if I like it more than her design in the pilot but she doesn't look all weird and lumpy anymore.
I dunno. LoK's problems go down to the basic concept, which consisted of "Let's follow an Avatar who's the opposite of Aang, but put her in a story that's necessarily in the same genre that Aang's was."
Aang didn't like fighting, but was in a fighting show, and so there was meaty conflict to be derived from that.
Korra LOVED fighting, and was in what was, in the end, a fighting show, so a lot of the conflict felt a lot less natural (Korra being terrible at fighting, or all these politically-powerful, untouchable antagonists going completely bonkers and needing to be put down by force, for example) because without it, she would naturally fit in too well.
To do the concept of Korra justice, they'd need to have committed to "Korra can't solve her problems with fighting" and make it largely a political-intrigue sort of show. Except no kid would want to watch a cartoon where a bunch of people with superpowers sit down without using them and argue over nuances. So I think LoK's problems ran deeper than its execution.
>But I don't think there are that many people here who have been here long enough to remember back then.
I remember watching this in COLLEGE.
I... I think I need a drink.
>Pilot
Quirky girl just trying to get by, space puppycat drags her into adventures which get her paid and entertain the viewer
>Now
literal fucking retard who makes the show unbearable to watch, also fatter
2d: Life in the eyes, sense of movement and adventure, castle/walled town helps show the visuals of the world a little better to place it as something unique, seems to show bad guys and a team pet, possibly? Fat Kid Friar Tuck(?) actually in motion doing something. Can imagine a jaunty little medieval soundtrack playing, possibly involving lutes in markets where such music is not outlawed.
3d: Lifeless eyes and poses, like they're mannequins. A generic forest. gormless expressions meant to convey 'fun' but look more like 'constipated', 'dull surprise' or 'existential horror'. Fat Kid eating because Fat. Can only imagine this: youtu.be
Left: Looks okay.
Right: See image.
the version with the living ermine coat would have probably been a nightmare to animate, but it looks SO GOOD
>ruining fabien mense's beautiful designs
it hurts
I'm getting sick of this "simple design; easy to animate" excuse. When animators in the 80's can work with overly-detailed designs and animators nowaways deal with Flash puppets that have even more crap in them, saying THAT is hard to animate is just a shitty excuse.
How did I know fp would be bp. Never change Sup Forums.
I kinda like the Rita Repulsa-style one.
Monsters vs. Aliens was good and the final design was better than this.
