>Doesn't matter if he's a mass murderer who has killed thousands unapologetically and plans to kill more >Doesn't matter if he's a terrorist who uses chemical weapons >Doesn't matter that he raped Bat girl and many others >Doesn't matter that's he's pretty much the devil incarnate >Doesn't matter that he seems to escape jail every other day and no one does anything about it
>No you see Robin none of these things matter because if you or I kill him even for the greater good instead of leaving it to our clearly corrupt and inept legal system which I clearly have no respect for as an illegal vigilante anyway well then we'll be literally as bad as him in fact we'll basically be Hitler, because you see Robin once you cross the line of killing one person no matter the situation or reason including self defense we'll you see it's pretty impossible not to kill everyone else.
>If you don't like or if you disagree with anything I just said or want to debate it Robin we'll you're a fucking retard and I don't even know what you say to you clearly you never understood.
Jason Parker
why doesnt batman just rape the jester
Nolan Ramirez
Bruce would've been okay with Robin killing Joker, but he wanted Bruce to do it
Bruce doesn't want to kill anyone because he thinks it's a slippery slope that'll end with him gutting street thugs
Eli Kelly
Bruce is borderline insane and probably wouldn't be able to stop himself from killing again and again.
Nothing would have stopped Jason from shooting Joker in the head and leaving his body in a back alley. It could have been done if he wasn't so determined for bat-daddy to prove his love.
Robert Robinson
It's simple Every time Batman is confronted with death, he turns back into that scared little 8 year old boy who's crying in front of his parent's corpses screaming "Nooooo!" So he won't let anyone die Literally a fucking manchild
Joshua Price
So much this. Jason was an idiot trying to shoot J in front of Bats, he has terrible Daddy issues
Jackson Watson
Why doesn't he just send the Joker to the Phantom Zone?
David Adams
Reminded that in nearly every fantasy Bruce had of being happy, it involved him being 8 years old again, with his parents alive, and retaining his innocence. This is why Bruce will never be happy
Carter Adams
So basically time stopped for him at the age of eight?
Adrian Ward
Because then we don't get any more interesting stories about the Joker you enormous autist.
Samuel Scott
>Bruce is borderline insane and probably wouldn't be able to stop himself from killing again and again. I fucking hate this excuse. If he really is borederline fucking crazy than why the fuck should he be allowed to dress up as a fucking bat and beat the shit out of criminals? Or have access to secrets that could start wars or get people killed?
Cameron Ramirez
Fuck
That's actually not a bad idea
Andrew Watson
Trauma's a funny thing.
Liam Peterson
Huh
Henry Turner
>ignoring the fact DC is literally a constant cosmic battle of order and chaos
Learn the source material before you ask why fgt
Elijah Carter
He'd probably think it too inhumane. That the PZ is only for Doomsday level monsters.
Easton Evans
It's really that simple. Don't know why some people try to overthink it.
Owen Gonzalez
>too inhumane >for the Joker
Ridiculous.
Charles Cook
To Batman it would be.
Evan Perez
I know Batman is above killing but what about a little maiming or crippling?
I mean shit, Jokester isn't going to get up to much if he don't go no feet or hands
Or just give him the ol Dr Bane's All Natural Remedy
There's quite a lot you can do before you're strictly killing people
Owen Myers
>Sending Joker to a place he can't escape from, hurt anyone, or be hurt is inhumane >Beating the shit out of him and sending him to fucking ARKHAM inhumane central is a ok Fuck Bruce's faggotry.
Joshua Young
>Rape He doesn't rape because to him it wouldn't be funny
Brandon Richardson
This is a perfect example of a writer creating a counterpoint that just makes way more sense than the intended lesson.
Cameron Ramirez
You try to stop him
Joseph Reed
I want Garth Ennis to write a story about Batman going crazy from laughing gas and raping the Joker.
Dylan Howard
And he thinks it's Robin the entire time.
Now THAT's edgy
Nolan Sullivan
>he can't escape from There have been plenty of escapees from the Phantom Zone.
Nicholas White
The real question is why doesn't the state execute the joker?
Carter Brooks
Like Arkham is better?
Ethan Myers
Why doesn't the joker just kill himself?
Jaxson Anderson
Jason didn't believe in or even care about whatever shit he was shoveling, he was just another nutball only trying to fuck with Batman. If Bruce had given in Jason would have left Gotham by sunup and the power vacuum he left behind would have destroyed the city by sundown.
Asher Nguyen
He did in TDKR
Leo Hughes
So Batman doesn't want to kill, I get that.
...why not cut off Joker's arms and legs?
Joshua Carter
Isn't this the same Batman that killed Amazons because "It's war"?
Hunter Martin
Because he's a character intended to be a model of behaviour for boyscouts, like most cape heroes.
Aaron Brooks
> once you cross the line of killing one person no matter the situation or reason including self defense we'll you see it's pretty impossible not to kill everyone else
Batman was only talking about himself. He wasn't talking about society.
Adam Allen
He specifically said he wouldn't kill even though there was a war on, at least read the comics you're citing (even if they're wank like Amazon's Attack).
Kayden Torres
He might not be able to stop himself from cutting off everyone's arms and legs.
Nolan Ramirez
Grant Morrison logic: If Batman's power is being Batman, then his kyrptonite would be killing. So if he did kill, the story would be ridiculed for it (like BvS), and end up noncanon in some way (Batman stops being Batman, killed, or just ignored).
Benjamin Martin
Because Batman would break Joker out if the state ever decided to kill him, Batman doesn't want to live in a world without the Joker.
Landon Garcia
Batman is correct. It is not his place to select who dies, regardless of how obvious it feels.
It is Gotham's. No city should stand for criminals just walking out of jail every week. Of him not going to some supermax somewhere. Of not being sentenced to death, or sent to Guantanamo Bay for terrorism.
Gotham is shit. Batman's doin just fine.
Dominic Martin
you see the joker is TOO INSANE to be crippled!! his CRAZY brain would still send the signals to his limbs letting him keep going!
Hudson Martinez
Because it's not up to him.
Brody Johnson
Bruce knows if he starts killing he won't be able to stop. Why do people have problems understanding that? Autism?
Andrew Gomez
Kek
Oliver Rogers
for the same reason because he's obsessively committed to not killing anyone or even hurting them too badly, and he's never slipped up as far as I know
Ryan Brown
can't go a fucking day without this kind of thread
Daniel Cooper
You are talking about the guy who wouldn't even let Superman and the rest of the Justice League transport criminals out of Arkham and to a secure facility. He needs criminals, he thrives on it. A world with order and peace is not one for Batman because he would have to abandon the only thing that keeps him from having a total mental breakdown.
Dominic Baker
...
Brandon Nguyen
Honestly, Joker would probably still be a threat even if he was crippled. It's not like he's a physical threat to Batman, he's about as helpless as a cripple when it comes time for his ass-kicking anyway. He'd probably still mastermind his schemes and manipulate proxies to carry them out.
Justin Long
>Jason didn't believe in or even care about whatever shit he was shoveling, he was just another nutball only trying to fuck with Batman. That was the most disappointing thing about the ending, I mean aside from his lame-ass explanation of Batman's rule - when he seemed to genuinely want to control organized crime, he actually made for an interesting foil to Batman, and raised some real questions. And then he threw it all away because it was all just an insane long-shot gambit to set up his dream revenge fantasy.
I feel like this is Batman's one character flaw though. Like, he's got so much plot armor, this is the thing that makes him vulnerable; his logic is flawed. His parents were murdered as a kid, and now the thought of taking a life makes him queasy.
Look at TDKR, at the end the Joker is basically taunting him for being too much of an old bitch to finish the job. It's stupid, but it's an aspect of the character I kinda like.
But then again, a lot of writers write it as "YOU SHOULDN'T EVER KILL, EVEN AS A LAST RESORT" moral lesson rather than a way to explore Bats' motives in an interesting way.
Samuel Brown
Batman is basically a nonlethal version of the Punisher. Yeah, Superman or Gordon could just go "you know what, this IS technically against the law, I'm gonna stop you", but they know him well enough to know that doing so would be way more trouble than it's worth.
Juan Johnson
Gotham's home state doesn't have the death penalty?
From memory that lame fucking story where the one time they decide to fry the freak, Bats has to save him because he was framed only got that far because it involved the postal service and thus became a federal level crime.
Zachary Jenkins
Morrison is a fucking idiot.
Aaron Reyes
>interesting stories >the Joker
Oliver Wright
Why don't the city execute Joker? Batman did his job bringing Joker in.
Adam Reyes
More importantly, why don't random beat cops "accidentally" shoot him after he's in custody
They can write away official killings, but isn't it strange that the most corrupt police force in the world isn't bad enough for that?
Blake Nelson
They're not the most corrupt though. Hub City and Bludhaven's police departments are both objectively dirtier than Gotham's, at least since Gordon took over.
Joseph Howard
>hundreds and hundreds of black people being shot ranging from minor altercations to full out assault >not one writer has had some nervous as fuck cop jump the gun and blast his pasty asshole away
Does Gotham even take place in the US? Is the city corrupt as fuck and yet has an angelic police department?
Grayson Baker
Especially with New 52 Joker being a massive cop killer.
Evan Parker
Joker is actually a black man who bleached his skin to make the cops incapable of shooting him.
Isaac Jones
Like who?
Aiden Torres
Joker has as much plot armor as Batman.
Elijah Hughes
Why doesn't Bats just break Joker's back and legs.
Kevin Thompson
Has Batman ever asked Superman to lock Joker away in the Phantom Zone?
Jaxon Myers
Yeah, when you think about it its a huge weakness, which is something Batgod really needs to balance against all the crazy shit he pulls off
Carson Rodriguez
>Joker is Michael Jackson So much is explained
Josiah Butler
>allowed
Juan Gray
We haven't gotten any interesting Joker stories since Joker became as much of an author's pet as Batgod.
Evan Brown
Why isn't Gotham quaranteened off from the rest of the world?
Joshua Morgan
Because it's stupid when Batman goes out of his way to stop Joker from being killed by others.
Zachary Rodriguez
And when was that for Joker?
Hunter Jenkins
When fans of TAS grew up and went into the industry.
Liam Baker
Examples from said fans?
Aaron King
>another vigilante kills the Joker >everyone in Gotham loves him for doing so >Batman starts tracking down and plans to defeat and turn in the other vigilante >the public turns on Batman and sees him as a villain persecuting a hero
Would you read it Sup Forums?
Nathaniel Perry
>In the end, Batman accepts what the vigilante did >Seeks him out to apologize for other actions >Goes to shake hand >Pan up >The vigilante is the joker.
Luis Edwards
it's not his job, and it's not his responsibility to kill the joker no more than it is the responsibility of all gcpd cops or really any citizen of gotham.
Jordan Johnson
not true, there are some worlds in which he finds love and has kids and shit
