What does Sup Forums think of pic-related? Puerile exploitation masquerading as an art film or a disturbing examination of power dynamics from a country recovering from their participation in WWII? Both or something else entirely?
What does Sup Forums think of pic-related...

it could be shocking back in days, but now seems just boring
dey eat da poopoo lol
Politically relevant at the time. Currently very dull.
Boring in what sense? I only watched it for the first time last night, but I thought the situation itself and the psychology of it were very nightmarish but of course what's actually show on screen is quite tame (maybe other than the shit eating) and isn't anything worse than what you can catch on the news now.
stupid commie director sperging out with zero artistic value
hmm don't know how to really say, dull boring hmm. maybe seen too much such shits and Sup Forums so it doesn't work for me
The fuck is a fascist?
This. It was anti-right-wing propaganda, painting Francoists as decadents. In reality commies are much more likely to turn into sexually domineering perverts when they achieve power.
You could adapt the overall themes of power to any authoritarian regime left or right, whether the director intended it or not.
wtf. I responded and my post disappeared. Anyway, I think you could apply the themes of power to any authoritarian regime, left or right, whether the director intended it or not. The political is obviously present, but I also think there's more to it about how the individual uses power on the personal level and putting the viewer in the shoes of both those yielding power and those who are powerless.
shit, maybe commies are actually rotting my brain.
It's absolute shit and I'm sad I fell for the criterion maymay.
Seeing as it was an early release from them, I have to wonder how much of it was them trying to stir controversy. What didn't you like about it though?
THIS
Gay garbage that plebs will think is high art
>Pasolini
>Puerile
Who the fuck would ever think that knowing who he is?
Imbeciles.
This board is too stupid for movies like this.
Insanely repetitive, like Pasolini in general. Pasolini goes into a film with one specific message in mind and conveys it the same way ad nauseam. Has brief moments of visual brilliance at moments, but it's never enough to compensate for all his other shortcomings for me.
That video is so stupid I could only watch 1 minute before closing the tab.
caligula and bad lieutenant are both better x rated movies
Why not provide your take on it inside of replying to stupid zero-effort posts?
instead*
You're free to criticize Pasolini and his work but calling it "commie shit" is not a critique, it's just stupidity. Nothing Pasolini ever did was something you can dismiss with some stupid namecalling and shitposting on an imageboard, all his work was very thoughtful and Pasolini was definitely not someone who only cared about pushing some political agenda.
I don't give much of a fuck about Pasolini right now but seeing dumbfucks shitting on him because of their blind hate for everything they cannot understand makes me mad.
This is par for the course for certain directors on this board, though. It's no excuse, but it's impossible to make a thread on films like Salo or Irreversible without single sentence dismissals of "edginess" or the hot political rhetoric of the moment.
Since you seem to be a bit more familiar with his work than others here, what are your favorite films from him?
The bourgeois make bad films.
The absolute state of Sup Forums
Stupid brainlets.
>says the brainlet who goes on fucking Sup Forums to discuss something seriously
I've seen this movie long ago but as I said I don't care much about Pasolini right now. I'm just Italian so Pasolini is part of my general knowledge, he was definitely a man of a high intellectual stature.
This movie made me wonder how ingrained into our dna it is to have elite pedo rings. I knew that there was some scandelous shit going down in the U.S. in the 80’s but for there to be a Euro film from ‘75 about it shook me. I mean if it was previlent enough to spawn a movie 40+ years ago, how far back does it actually go? Is the wealthy sexually preying on children something that’s always been around? And what does that say about the human animal?
Pedosexuality is natural and normal
The premise of the film is taken from a book written in the 1700s. If you have wealth (power) then obviously you have the opportunity to indulge in fucked up desires if you wish.
normies love pleasures and pains through senses and claim that being equanimous towards the senses is death
This desu
It dates back at least to the Greeks.
But has it always been as predatory? To incorporate devious means of acquiring children, then use extreme methods of abuse, torture, and manipulation, then to discard them once the urges have been fulfilled?
