Join me, Konfags and YJ4fags, for a storytime of pain: Teen Titans (2014) issue #12.
This issue is the last appearance of Superboy in the New 52, and I have no idea what actually happened, and what this means for Kon's current position in DC. Is he alive, is he dead? I have no clue. ITT, I will be posting the issue, for us to cringe at, feel anguished about what could have been, and to remember that even though RHatO is okay right now, Lobdell is still... Lobdell.
For anyone who needs context to understand this issue- know that we don't understand it either.
However:
>Harvest (Lobdell's Villain Sue) creates Superboy as a living weapon, also forces teenaged metas into a Hunger Games called The Culling, recruiting the survivors as his army.
Superboy escaped, joined the Teen Titans, stopped Harvest, and disappeared through a portal into a crossover with Superman/Girl, in which he died. He then became a ripoff Silver Surfer for a mysterious cosmic entity.
After some shenanigans involving the guy he was cloned from (Jon Lane-Kent [no, not Superdad's son], the evil son of Superbro from the future who wanted to exterminate all metahumans), who had taken over the Superboy solo, Kon is brought back to life. The comic is promptly cancelled.
Kon later appears in Supergirl at an alien school, until the villains tried to clone him into an army of living weapons. He and Kara stop them, Kon leaves.
About a year after that, Kon appeared in the Annual of Teen Titans, having apparently slaughtered a community of Durlans. However, Kon has no memory of this, and the Teen Titans are split over whether to protect him or turn him in. Martian Manhunter turns up to kill Superboy, and jobs spectacularly. A Durlan named Chimera appears, saying Superboy is innocent.
The Titans are lead to believe that Despero is the one responsible for Superboy's framing, and so break into the superprison he is being kept in to find out the truth.
And that's where our story begins...
