So... what the fuck actually happened here?

Join me, Konfags and YJ4fags, for a storytime of pain: Teen Titans (2014) issue #12.
This issue is the last appearance of Superboy in the New 52, and I have no idea what actually happened, and what this means for Kon's current position in DC. Is he alive, is he dead? I have no clue. ITT, I will be posting the issue, for us to cringe at, feel anguished about what could have been, and to remember that even though RHatO is okay right now, Lobdell is still... Lobdell.

For anyone who needs context to understand this issue- know that we don't understand it either.

However:
>Harvest (Lobdell's Villain Sue) creates Superboy as a living weapon, also forces teenaged metas into a Hunger Games called The Culling, recruiting the survivors as his army.
Superboy escaped, joined the Teen Titans, stopped Harvest, and disappeared through a portal into a crossover with Superman/Girl, in which he died. He then became a ripoff Silver Surfer for a mysterious cosmic entity.

After some shenanigans involving the guy he was cloned from (Jon Lane-Kent [no, not Superdad's son], the evil son of Superbro from the future who wanted to exterminate all metahumans), who had taken over the Superboy solo, Kon is brought back to life. The comic is promptly cancelled.

Kon later appears in Supergirl at an alien school, until the villains tried to clone him into an army of living weapons. He and Kara stop them, Kon leaves.

About a year after that, Kon appeared in the Annual of Teen Titans, having apparently slaughtered a community of Durlans. However, Kon has no memory of this, and the Teen Titans are split over whether to protect him or turn him in. Martian Manhunter turns up to kill Superboy, and jobs spectacularly. A Durlan named Chimera appears, saying Superboy is innocent.

The Titans are lead to believe that Despero is the one responsible for Superboy's framing, and so break into the superprison he is being kept in to find out the truth.

And that's where our story begins...

I raged over this version of the Young Justice crowd so much at the time. Every and anything related to it would set me off. Still... i kept reading it because i just couldn't control myself. I needed to see it, to learn about it, all so i could hate it more.

The Nu52 era was pretty dark for me.

HA

If kon comes back what do you think he should call himself

No clue. Some people suggest Scion, like in Smallville, but i don't like that one.
Has there been a Supernova before? Not the best name, but keeps the 'super'

...

I honestly don't want this version of Kon to come back.

If we have to have a Kon, then introduce a new one done by Lexcorp mixing Lex and Superman's DNA, basically giving us an updated pre-N52 Kon.

...

My ideal situation is
>New 52 Kon was Match, New 52 Bart was Inertia
>Kon and Bart were Mr. Oz's prisoners this whole time.

...

Metropolis or Metropolis Kid? I mean it would be a call back certainly.

Also if any of the Young Justice gain back their pre-New 52 memories, they are gonna be wrecked emotionally.

What about Cassie?

Dark Angel fucking with the Wonder Family again?

I can work with that.

>Gay porn artist doing the cover

LOL. Was 2016 the year of gay porn artists doing mainstream stuff?

Booster called himself supernova in 52 when he was hiding his identity

>Has there been a Supernova before? Not the best name, but keeps the 'super'
Green Lantern called himself Supernova for a bit

Does Earth Prime Raven, Not Power Girl or Hal have anything to do with this issue?

...

...

THERE HE IS

Sorry guys, got distracted by work and my internet is shit.
just 2 pages to go

And that's a wrap.

I've read the OG YJ run and a bit of Superboy. Some day I'm going to read all of this Teen Titans run just for pain.
Outside of Vol 3 Teen Titans, OG YJ and solo runs what YJ4 titles are here?

Why would Lobdell do this?

Not much else with the 4 as a group, apart from that it's pretty much all just book-to-book crossovers between one or two of them.

Adventure Comics had the YJ4 show up quite a bit, and Kon showed up in Robin/Red Robin from time to time. I heartily recommend reading Adventure Comics though, it singlehandedly redeemed post-Johns Kon for me.

Superboy had it so good Pre 52, he was becoming his own character with supporting cast and all

As someone who was following this series as it came out (And the person who storytimed this when it came out) Harvest was never alluded to at any point in this run beforehand. He only shows up because Lobdell co-wrote it

Nope, not in the slightest.
I mean, Raven and Not Power Girl are still in the real world while the others hallucinate, but Hal isnt involved.

I thought New 52 Superboy fucked off to be Silver Surfer or was that pre-flashpoint?
I get all of Teen Titans stories and most of their characters stories mixed up since it's been so bad since around Infinite Crisis

It's a variant for GL's 75th anniversary pham. Variants, even regular covers most times, have jack shit to do with the actual story in the issue

He did.
But then he came back.
It was in the New 52 Superboy run just before the end. Take my word for it, you don't want to read that crap.

I dont even think Lobdell's Superboy or this issue was bad.

The creation, the first arc, the character arc was all there, but what really killed the Superboy was the editorial. Every crossover, every appearance in other titles to do what? Exactly what Lobdell says in this issue: being a weapon, being there to punch something, and if you look at his solo, it wasnt lobdell doing that for the most of it (yes he did too), but the editorial did fuck up big.

Damn, I wish I could go back and write Superboy after the first arc, him searching his humanity and such, doing what should have been done

This isn't even fun to read. It's just retarded.

Match

wait... Young Justice was renewed for a third?

OH SHIT

>tfw YJ is the only place we'll see Kon in the foreseeable future
>He'll still be an angery punching bag defined only by his relationship
>He will never win a single fight against a named character
Why live?

Rebirth will save the YJ4, you just gotta believe

So is Kon alive or dead? Did he join harvest or did he kill himself?

>tfw as soon as Barry and Iris hook up Bart appears from the future, as Barry and Iris' breakup was an inconsistency created by Manhattan that meant Bart didn't exist. Barr Torr was a fake all along.

>Bart goes to reunite Young Justice, giving them back their Pre-FP memories a la Wally and the Titans

>Young Justice Rebirth featuring the 4, Emiko, Secret, and Miss Martian (muh synergy)

>nubo was effectively Slobo
Then Empress appears never again, saddening all 2 fans of her.

The first arc sucked as well.

N52 editorial staff were freaking awful and the reason why n52 was such a mess.
