>it's yet another Halloween recommendation thread
The Relic

It follows and Re animator

Fuck, I've been off Sup Forums for quite some time. Has there been many similar threads?
Started uni a few months back. First time off now and want to binge some comfy movies.
The Relic seems fine, I'll give it a try.

Have seen It Follows, might be time for a rewatch.
Definitely adding Re-animator to the list, thanks!

John Carpenter's Halloween
Alien
Invasion of the Body Snatchers
The Thing
The Fly
Return of the Living Dead
From Beyond
Prince of Darkness
Halloween 3
The Evil Dead
Night of the Living Dead

>spooky/comfy-core

The Wailing

Ah don't mind me I'm just being a jerk, yeah there's been other threads asking but there's no reason someone else can't make requests, just too damn lazy myself to compile lists into an infographic or something when they're made.

Yeah, hard to be around for all the threads.
Also making a infographic might be a good idea, I do have the time over after all. We'll see how big of a list I get.

Is it good?
Trying to find a torrent with hardcoded subs because I'm a noob that doesn't bother to find out how to get subtitles through Plex.

>spooky/comfy
Carnival of Souls
The Innocents
Haxan
Eyes Without a Face
Beyond the Black Rainbow

>watching atmospheric horror movies on Halloween
>pic related

you better watch some slashers/shitty horror movies from the early aughts instead.

>Invasion of the Body Snatchers
Original or remake?

Good list.

Not him, but watch the good version (also known as the original).

The remake obviously. No one cares about the original.

The one from the 70's with Donald Sutherland and Lenard Nimoy.

It's excellent if you're into slow paced atmospheric horror.

I wouldn't recommend it to someone who exclusively likes torture porn or slashers or whatever

>>watching atmospheric horror movies on Halloween
Then give me some recs for slashers/shitty horror nignog

But I'm adding Häxan and Eyes Without a Face to the list.
Going from watching Prince of Darkness to Häxan might be a interesting thing to try I guess.

>torture porn or slashers
Oh baby I'm almost there, don't stop.

On a serious note, yes that's sounds perfect. Adding it to the list.

Going for remake,
sorry

I watched this recently. It was a pretty old school horror kind of vibe. I didn't particularly like it, but my gf and her bull really enjoyed it.

Student Bodies

You're doing yourself a disservice if you don't watch the original, but do what you will. I'm surprised people on Sup Forums are recommending the remake over the original, it's almost always the other way around.

Fuck.
We'll see which one I go for.

The Thing > The Thing From Another World > The Thing 2011

Jeepers Creepers is probably my favorite Halloween horror film. The second one was okay as well although I'd put it in an entirely different genre of horror. Haven't seen the third one yet.

I'm taking initiative and adding The Abyss because no one else is recommending it.

>good slashers
Peeping Tom
Frenzy
The Slumber Party Massacre
Nightmare on Elm Street III: Dream Warriors

>contemptible, filthy slasher trash
Eyes of a Stranger
The Prowler
Maniac
Manic Cop
The House on Sorority Row
Prom Night
The Mutilator

>shity, late-90s/ early aughts horror
House of Wax(2005)
Th13een Ghosts
House on Haunted Hill(1999)
The Faculty

>another thinly veiled 'psychological' film masquerading as a horror movie, but falls apart on a structural level due to its metaphor superseding its actual plot

House of the Devil
Ginger Snaps
Idle Hands
A Tale of Two Sisters
Dog Soldiers
Bubba Ho-Tep
Return of the Living Dead
Behind the Mask: The Rise of Leslie Vernon
Last Shift
Onibaba
Diaboliques
The Night of the Hunter
Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2

Although not exactly a horror, Shaun of the Dead is one of my favorite zombie movies.

Any more zombie movies?

[REC]
Pontypol
Return of the Living Dead
Dead Alive (my fav)
Re-Animator
Dead Snow

Well of course there is the classic Romero trilogy (Dawn of the Dead is my favorite out of those). 28 Days Later is a good one. Dead Alive is great.
Zombieland is entertaining although I don't consider it a horror film.

saw A Dark Song last night and loved it, even with the slightly disappointing ending it's still an amazing psychological thriller

Thanks!

Night of the Comet
Dead and Buried
Zombi series(Zombi 2 specifically)
Flesheater

Not sure how I feel about
>>contemptible, filthy slasher trash
So I'm taking a look at the good slashers instead

>another thinly veiled 'psychological' film masquerading as a horror movie
I wish, downloading rn

Great, checking out those!

Scared Shrekless

It means it's classless. It exists to watch people die(usually women) and the antagonist to inevitably meet their demise -- usually in a glorious death scene.

The only one that's a bit "yikes.." is Eyes of a Stranger, because it's a bit too grounded. If it didn't straddle the line between being a brainless slasher and legit film it would be remembered much more fondly.

Also houses a very young Jennifer Jason Leigh giving a pretty solid performance.

You know, how slashers should be.

If you gonna be a pussy about it, watch The Prowler and The Mutilator. Those two are undeniably entertaining.

Yeah I know, that's why I don't know how I feel about it. Although I can't say The Prowler and The Mutilator doesn't sound intriguing, so I'm adding those, as the massive pussy I am.

if the original is a black and white film from 50 years ago, I always recomend the remake. those movies have aged badly and don't do much for the modern viewer anymore.

List right now, didn't have time to add everything I wanted to, continuing on it later. It's kind of all over the place right, other than that it's all good. I'm going to watch The Wailing, back later.
Thanks for contributing.

I don't know if I'm a "modern viewer" since I grew up watching tons of black and white movies (although I am in my 20's), but I'm not really bothered by the black and white and I don't think that older style should be a barrier for people. The original stands up still on its own merits and was pretty damn influential. I think the movie still holds up today, but I like watching older movies.

>I've been off Sup Forums for quite some time

Fuck off you normie cunt.

I've been in the mood too obviously. Watched a few recently. About to watch The Descent I think.

>Knock Knock
4/10 worth watching if only for a few scenes. Didn't get the boners I hoped for

>Possession
8/10 fantastic acting and practical effects. More than just a horror movie but thoroughly disturbing and stressful like any good one should be

>Hush
6/10 a new concept (to me) with good execution. I love horror movies that all take place in one small location. Gives you that good claustophobic feeling

>The Witch
9/10 great premise with strong filmmaking behind it. I felt such strong feelings of dread during it. Can't wait to see what else Eggers can do.

Necessities to me would be stuff like: The Shining, The Thing, The Witch, The Blair Witch Project, Alien, Ernest: Scared Stupid

>Normie
I don't think that word means what you think

I hope someone fucks your throat with a fistfull of razorblades you normie piece of shit.

Watch Noroi: The Curse

It's like the Japanese Blair Witch and it's fucking creepy and atmospheric as hell

t. normie edgelord

The Void, super retro indie flick

Sounds right up my alley. I'm downloading it now. Thanks

it's not the black and white that's the problem, it's the general feel and the way the dialogs were written back then and the special effects etc. it's more apparent in horror films and sci-fi, they're just not effective anymore. some dramas still hold up though, like 12 angry men and mockingbird.

Where you from my dude?

A Dark Song is very similar to The Witch in tone.

texas chainsaw (1974)
omega man
cabin in the woods

also teeth

Let me know what you think if there is a horror thread still up later

Battle Royale is a fantastic psychological horror film. Omega Man mentioned by another user is a great movie as well.

No

Sounds great. Downloading as well, thanks for the tip.

Nice, adding

Noroi used to be on YouTube. That's where I first watched it. Too lazy to check

Nobody cares about your Asian shit, weeaboo.

t. brainlet

Sounds like you're a scared little bitch too afraid to watch the movie

youtu.be/7ebVPMMjdko

The irony in you thinking this is a cutting rebuttal.

trick r treat hits the spot perfectly

O probably dude you're super hardcore aren't you lmfao

It contained just as much substance as the post he was replying to. Learn to critique posts before talking out of your ass.

t. homo

No, it didn't. Bringing up movies just because they're Japanese is annoying weeaboo BS. Pointing that out is a substantive complaint. Responding "brainlet" is nonsensical and completely unsubstantiated. Where's the "brainlet" factor in calling out a weeaboo? There isn't one. Thus the irony.
>Learn to critique posts before talking out of your ass.
Lmfao do you think you're in collegiate debate or something you absolute faggot

I didn't bring it up because it was Japanese, I was just using that as a comparison. I brought it up because I think it's a good horror movie for a horror movie thread

>calling other people weeaboos
Where do you think we are?

Fair enough. It just seemed like the only value a "Japanese Blair Witch" would have is that it's Japanese. Otherwise why not just watch Blair Witch? But I was mainly just being mean because this is Sup Forums and also I hate Asian movies. Nothing personnel.

>why wouldn't you just watch Blair Witch
Because that's a retarded thing to do and to say. It's like saying "don't watch any science fiction films ever, just watch star wars"

Blair Witch isn't the only creepy found footage movie that exists, but you would know that if you weren't a flaming pleb retard

Comfyspook:

In the Mouth of Madness
The Mothman Prophecies
It Follows
The Mummy
The Autopsy of Jane Doe
Army of Darkness
The Purge 2/3
House on Haunted Hill (1999)
A Dark Song
Tucker and Dale
Ginger Snaps
The Mist
Big Wolf on Campus (TV Show)
Cabin in the Woods
Thirteen Ghosts

Oh, and the Cube series too, mostly the first.

The Ninth Gate is also very comfy, even if it's not strictly horror.

The Witch.

I fucking hate horror but this cuts the mustard, mate.

I unironically enjoy Cube 2: Hypercube. It has such a sterile, hospital like vibe to it that's very unsettling.

>It's like saying "don't watch any science fiction films ever, just watch star wars"
No... it's not. It'd be like if someone said "this is basically French Star Wars" and I said "why not just watch actual Star Wars?" Your comparison is the epitome of brainlet and I didn't even want to resort to ad hominem. Youre implying I said why watch any horror ever, just watch Blair Witch when I said nothing approaching that. Amazingly dumb.
>Blair Witch isn't the only creepy found footage movie that exists, but you would know that if you weren't a flaming pleb retard
Needless to say you're projecting hard at the end there. Nobody ever disputed that, obviously... That'd be a very stupid thing to dispute. Describing it as "a Japanese Blair Witch" is what prompted me to call him a weeaboo and say why not just watch Blair Witch instead. Nowhere in the exchange is it implied that Blair Witch is the only found footage film. Good Lord. You're so confident but so dumb.

t. autism

House of the Devil
Don't Go to Sleep (1982)
Night of the Demons
April Fool's Day
The Brood
Dawn of the Dead
The Entity
Wishmaster

A Warning to the Curious (UK classic)
Pet Semetary

Good comfy mix of cult and classics, no trash just the goods. Happy Halloween

this is somewhat comfy

>haha I see u made some good points there haha
>that just proves ur autistic is all that does haha
>btfo haha brainlet haha autist haha
Kys human waste

t. Flaming pleb retard

I'm noticing a trend in how brainlets argue.

it's not a comparison you twat, it's a way to describe something to let you know what it's like. instead of calling it japanese found footage he called it japanese blair witch. people commonly associate every found footage movie with blair witch. they shouldn't but every knows what you mean when you mention it.

I got it on PTP. Could probably upload if you guys have time to wait.

Alright I will

just watch hocus pocus and halloween

I almost watched that a while ago because I heard good things but wrote it off because of the trailer. The Witch trailer was a horrible representation of the movie so I'll take your word on it and check it out

I almost watched that a while ago because I heard good things but wrote it off because of the trailer. The Witch trailer was a horrible representation of the movie so I'll take your word on it and check it out

>it's not a comparison you twat, it's a way to describe something to let you know what it's like.
... By what mechanism? Could it be... comparison? Imagine being this dumb.
Yes, I've already addressed all this with the guy, my argument with him is over, you jumped in afterwards with your own idiotic contentions and that's what I responded to. Whiteknighting random anons is pathetic, but I suspect you're probably a weeaboo yourself who felt personally attacked. Fuck off weeaboo faggot.

>ad hominem
Wow ur so smard XD

Good horror movies are probably my favorite type of movie. It's a shame they're so few and far between. VVVVitch is one of my all time favorites for sure.

>Ayy lmao ass

Please leave this thread youre shitting everything up with your horrible opinions. This is a thread for horror discussion. You're the only one being a massive faggit here

>I'm not a pleb and I'm so smart
>I don't like Asian movies because weeaboo
>???

Ok? Nobody cares, brainlet

??? Would you prefer if I went out of my way to dumb things down for you? It's simply what it is, no one would think that's highflying language. Do you sperg our anytime someone speaks above an elementary level? Pathetic.
