What's up with them? What are their goals?
Mars Attacks!
the goal was to conquer earth for the sole reason of being antagonistic to the human characters to create the drama and set pieces in order to entertain people
“Earthlings were born only to serve us. Without that, they have no place in the world – only to serve the People of Mars.” - Anonymous Martian.
they did it because they fuckin' could.
anyone else get freaked out by this movie as a kid?
ACK
because dark is the sod that tills like the harvest
I did.
the way they sounded was scary
and putting the ladys head on the dog was scary
WHAT DID YOU SAY ABOUT MY MOTHER? SHE IS A SAINT!
In my opinion, ACK ACK ACK ACK ACK ACK ACK ACK
I find it odd Tim Burton made this. Anyone know why he did?
God dammit yes.
Every time someone got death ray'd into a skellington it terrified me.
bumping my question
he actually planned on doing another one called "Dinosaurs Attack!" which was another series of cards by Topps. that idea got scrapped because they didnt want to compete with Jurassic Park. funny enough, this movie came out the same year as Independence Day.
hindsight is 20/20, I guess. but to be fair, Burton's wacky style lends itself pretty well to this movie.
glad Im not the only one.
I remember that movie. I was so scared of their faces.
There is a role playing game called GURPS that has a whole book written about the Mars Attacks world. This is from a section of that book:
Humanity quickly realized that the Martians cannot stand the idea of sharing the solar system equally with another sapient species, and the aliens want to neutralize Earth as a threat . What we don’t know is why they are sending in troops to conquer the planet rather than bombing us to rubble from high orbit . Not even the Novas Vira (pp . 40-43) has the answer . Attempting to interrogate Martian grunts and marines – a difficult if not impossible task in itself (see Languages, pp . 55-56) – just leads to frustration, as Imperial Command doesn’t share such strategic information with low-level soldiers.
...
this (((sounds familiar)))
>Novas Vira
must've been the IDW version then. not that I'm complaining, That was a damn fine series of comics.
Imagine a Mars attacks / starship troopers crossover
That martian looks so freaked out by that dog
I remember being angry at that movie for making Rod Steiger look foolish
he has a really morbid, borderline-stupid sense of humor mixed with nostalgia for 50s b movies he watched all the time as a kid...
i mean every time this movie comes up, it's always
>this movie terrified me as a kid
and frankly, yeah. it's not a very funny or charming movie. Its just a long, awkward comedy with a stupidly bloated cast and a complete over-reliance on sight-gags and ACK ACK ACK...
It honestly fucked-up burton's career a little bit he was super hot-shit in the early 90s before this flick, and he didn't make another movie for like 4 years afterwards.
It's a little bit like spielberg and 1941...bad comedies are cancer for everyone involved.
Poor doggie :(
they're muslim
Allahu ACKbar
You intolerant fucking bigot, Martians are a species of peace. It was Earth's fault in the first place for oppressing their culture first with that white male dove, they only acted in self-defense.
The more you criticize the martians the more murderous invaders you create
To have fun
