I just watched the pilot. >boring lead >boring family >drug lord falls for Marty's retarded plan to move to the Ozarks >"oh yeah dude, we'll totally just give you 8 million in cash"
I want to like it. Does it improve? Does it get interesting? The drug lord is the only remotely interesting character.
Sup Forums said this was better than Breaking Bad
Ryder Walker
No, the wife is a slut and the daughter follows suit!
Easton Jenkins
lol wut, the daughter is only 15
Zachary Sanders
I don't know. I tapped out after four episodes.
Jace Thomas
She gets pumped and dumped by an 18 year old!
Dominic Allen
It doesn't really get better. It's Breaking Bad on valium.
Alexander Jones
it's very middle of the road, like most netflix shows. Its not a bad watch and some of the characters that get introduced are interesting (especially the redneck girl), but it never really does anything ambitious or even above average. Also if you get triggered by the Netflix agenda that all their shows push then your gonna be disappointed.
Hudson Price
>Netflix agenda Wait, what is the Netflix Agenda?
Thomas Robinson
its breaking bad if skylar and walt weren't idiots
Chase Peterson
Progressive SJW stuff. In this show you have anti slut shaming, gayness, guy raped a girl after she said ya i'm okay with this but didn't double triple make extra special care to ask permission pretty please, and cuckoldry.
Asher Bailey
So you're saying it's good? I must admit I want this show to be good, but it doesn't seem like there's any tension.
Sure, the drug lord killed the wife's boyfriend and Marty's coworkers, but we knew they wouldn't be in any real danger in the pilot. Now the Drug Lord just trusts Marty? The family is as boring as any real life family. I mean compare it to Breaking Bad. Walt Jr. jwas 10 times more interesting, just by how he acted.
Does the show legitimately make the family interesting?
Zachary Wilson
He's not saying it's good, he said Marty and his wife are actually very smart in it and their convos are (at least in my opinion) are the best parts of the shows, and the show knows this and does some cool things with it. Besides the beginning when she tries to take the money and run, I can't think of another "Skyler" moment she has in the whole season
Wyatt Nelson
Wow, I'm surprised how many people in the thread don't like Ozark. I personally just love season 1. I'm terrible at identifying what makes me like a movie or tv show, but I just think it's a great show. I enjoyed it so much.
Mason Martinez
Well, would you say you became invested in Marty or members of his family?
That's my issue. Nothing seems to make them stand out or seem remotely interesting, but I've only seen the pilot.
Blake Perry
This is a pretty accurate summary from my point of view, though I think your complaint about the "Netflix agenda" is maybe a little overblown. None of the family members are super memorable (kept forgetting the kids' names) but some of the other characters are interesting and there are some good moments.
Mason Butler
Yeah definitely. The characters, including the family as a whole, felt very real to me. Man, I really wish I could identify exactly what I like about it. I think one thing would be a a tension in the show. The pilot really hooked me. A part of it might also be the aesthetics of it. Not sure what else to say.
Ian Brooks
it's basically a wannabe copy of Breaking Bad, except with money laundering instead of cooking meth. you also have the same slut wife and shitty kids as characters.
i watched the entire fucking season and really kind of regret the time wasted on it. it's OK. watchable if you're a fag and want to waste time. i would recommend The Sniffer over it if you're interested in crime-solving mystery shows.
Nathan Richardson
The show gets fucking stupid. Early on, Jason Bateman is talking to that blonde girl and her family. "If you kill me and take the money, you'll have the Mexican cartel on your ass, and the IRS will ask where you got the money" He gets the money back. A few eps later, the blonde girl Ruth is all: "I'm gonna kill Jason Bateman and take the money." Da fuq? Didn't you hear what he said? If not, why not just kill him when you had the chance?
Jaxon Hughes
you will only like the marty character if you enjoy jason bateman's dry deadpan type of humor, that..."uhh...yeah buddy, sure, but, uh are you sure about that?" type of schtick.
Michael Johnson
ruth changes her mind back to wanting to kill him and take the money *after* she learns the basic in's and out's of how to launder, which is what stopped them from killing him in the first encounter.
but then she changes her mind again because (1) marty can't die he's the main character and (2) she grows to like and respect him because he actually treats her as a business partner and gives her responsibilities n shiiiiet so she feels grateful because without him she'd still be a broke motel-maid.
there's a lot of subtly in the story, which i enjoy, and the realistic visuals. but other than i agree the characters are fairly flat and boring, and the gay backstory for some characters is annoying, but nowadays every mainstream show has to include gays, trannies, blacks, etc.
Ayden Martinez
It almost sounds like you only watched some 3 random episodes out of the 10 or just don't know how humans normally behave
Jack Turner
the pilot is super dramatic compared to the rest of the show, which is a slow burn. they cover more ground in that one pilot episode than they do in the next 5 episodes.
Easton Collins
>cuckoldry does the daughter cuck the dad?
Owen Russell
This is a new one, even for Sup Forums. How would a daughter cuck a dad? I must know for research purposes, that's all
Adam Peterson
not really, it lacks any kind of tension
Sebastian Myers
The drug lord gets killed at the end for the dumbest reason alive. By the hillbilly family
Jack Brown
all fathers find their sexy daughters attractive therefore when she loses her virginity she has effectively cucked him
Brody Hernandez
>By the hillbilly family Does it at least do a good job portraying poor white Americans?
Jacob Richardson
>all fathers find their sexy daughters attractive Bullshit So when my coworker showed me a family video where he kissed hiss 16 year old daughter on the lips, you're trying to say that was perverted?
Carson Nguyen
Just watch it all man, it's a very decent show and the writers/producers and actors should all feel they made something good. It's one of the only good shows I've watched since the end of the last Americans season.
William Perry
is it true the daughter shows off her sexy buim bum every episode in tight booty shorts?
Matthew Sanchez
I stopped watching when the suitcase of cash was stolen like episode 2 or whatever. Not even a third of the way through season one and they are resorting to plot filler devices. Dropped.
Elijah Scott
I liked it, I watched with my girlfriend and learn something really intresting about her; She is simpathetic of anyone who takes care of its family no matter how shady its way of life is
Lincoln Richardson
so season 1 of breaking bad, aka the good one sounds great, I don't mind the built-in reddit filter either
Gavin Wood
that's a critical piece of the season 1 arc am I the only one who actually liked season 3 of Bloodline? they took some risks
Bentley Clark
The daughter looks like a dude.
Jordan King
FFFFAAAAARRRRRRTTTTTTTTT
Brayden Wilson
>"Sup Forums said it was better than Breaking Bad" then they were trolling; it is not. But it's still a very short and fun watch imo. It does get a lot better as the show progresses; I was pretty turned off by episode 1 as well
it's better than a lot of the shit Netflix pumps out eg.) Stranger Things
she's 18 irl senpai :^)
the fuck? She never made any indication of regret; she just felt played. It was statutory rape, but that doesn't seem to be what you're suggesting
you're more correct than the guy you're replying to, but the real reason she didn't go through with it is because of Bateman's wife acting like an actual motherly/parental figure towards her (something she's likely never experienced)
Leo Reyes
A lot of the drama hinges on the idea that the love and trust in this family is already dead yet they're forced to be close and work together. It works inversely to most of these 'normal family torn apart' stories, there's tension in the idea that there might be life in them yet, rather than the slow burn of the family growing further apart.
>the gay backstory for some characters is annoying, but nowadays every mainstream show has to include gays, trannies, blacks, etc. You sound like a 12 year old.
Jayden Torres
I honestly didn’t like it until the last two episodes. Only watched it through because I started with my friends and didn’t want to bail after the first couple episodes. The ending at least got me interested in the next season.
Kayden Kelly
I just hope it doesn't fall into the breaking bad trap of murdering the boss every season
