one of the best works of visual art from the last 30 years.
Give me steam
I had a dream recently in which Peter died (well, he's old...) and whole internet went ape shit about this video.
what other music videos even come close
Only his others and Once in a Lifetime
I rather like this one: youtube.com
>it's a song about sex episode
Red Rain is about periods
Childhood is being wowed by Sledgehammer.
Adulthood is knowing Big Time was better.
they're both awesome don't be like that.
you could have a BIG DICK
going up and DOWN
I did some strong acid a couple years ago and watched all of his videos. Absolutely mesmerizing stuff. I was convinced by his power from that day forward.
Are music videos Sup Forums related? If so, that's great.
I'm more of a Phil Collins guy.
Pretty much ANY Primus video
Do The Evolution
Some of Annie Lennox's stuff
Money For Nothing
Any Tool video
and a bunch of others if you're willing to go look
>early 90s CGI
Fucking ewww
only if they are from when MTV actually played music videos
this from another great british pop artist of course.

>tfw ywn hug 80s Kate Bush
In hypothetical theory, Lily is da babe but what’s wrong with Eric Clapton orrrr ... Sting for this issue user????
Problem is that it's Gabriel's worst song. So was an awful sellout album.
Listen to Supper's Ready, The Musical Box, The Knife or even Moribund the Burgermeister. All way better. They should have been the songs to have crazy visual accompaniment.
Have any of you ever watched the last part of 2001 with Echoes by Pink Floyd playing? It's a pretty kino experience.

Put it on fullscreen.

Oh good we're posting great British popular music.
Fuck you
Yeah you goon that was when he was with Genesis and had other people actually throwing in ideas once and awhile. His solo stuff is completely different. It's more poppy then the prog rock of his Genesis years. It's a completely different beast
Too much 90’s mode !!!

Back from a time where every creative product was almost an instant icon.
Speaking of Kate Bush

Why are there no music videos with Hollywood actors anymore?
He's barely recognizable these days
Car and Melt were great albums. Gabriel jumping on pathetic adult-pop is sad as fuck. It's a shame how the entirety of the former band imploded and proceeded just to produce weak content. Like, The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway is a goddamn masterpiece.
Duke was genesis' only good post Gabriel album as well, funnily enough.
>Peter Gabriel solo career
At least Phil Collins made a couple of good songs outside of Genesis.
>So was an awful sellout album.
Fuck off it's better than his histrionic crying on Melt. Biko is an abortion.
honestly think smooth criminal is the best music video of all time
youtube.com
Love this song and video.
I can't recall but whatever Colin's era album with Dance on a Volcano is pretty good 2
I like everything they did up to Duke. Invisible Touch is a good 80s pop album as well, but their other records from that decade were only really good for the singles.
First half of the self titled album is great. It utterly falls to pieces in the second half.
Wait. Some people genuinely think that Phil Collins is on the same level as Peter Gabriel?
Holy fuck. How embarrassing.
who
Isn't it a bit negative to say No twelve times in a row?
>Invisible Touch
That album's biggest problem was the cheesiness of In Too Deep and the 10 minute tracks. 80s pop songs should never last that long. Still, I do legitimately love Anything She Does and Throwing It All Away.
Why have one if you can have all?
youtube.com
no
Cartoons are also really nice music videos

This song was popular in my country for a while. I still haven't forgiven you guys.
but most of you are white so instead you all have baby carrots :^)
>Werner
Sehr gut.
...
i love the old white trope where you have an entire 3-5 minute song, and in so many fucking words coyly dance around directly saying you want to fuck someone.
this song is a magnum opus in that regard.
I feel old.
Wear old age with pride. You worked hard to achieve it.
Sex is gross. I wish people would stop having it.
No I didn't.
bro what the fuck ever happened to that 80's new york gang look? in call me the guy is wearing just a wife beater, a crazy leather jacket, super tight jeans and motorcycle boots, looks like he's about to get beat up by the double dragon twins. that shit was fucking tight
>that good feel that you lived long enough to see the return of /mutv/
God, Call Me is a fucking great song.
This obviously has to be mentioned

>one of the best works of visual art from the last 30 years.
>480x360
He was wearing wigs throughout the 80's
I've been a big Genesis fan ever since the release of their 1980 album, Duke. Before that, I really didn't understand any of their work. Too artsy, too intellectual. It was on Duke where Phil Collins' presence became more apparent. I think Invisible Touch was the group's undisputed masterpiece. It's an epic meditation on intangibility. At the same time, it deepens and enriches the meaning of the preceding three albums. Christy, take off your robe. Listen to the brilliant ensemble playing of Banks, Collins and Rutherford. You can practically hear every nuance of every instrument. Sabrina, remove your dress. In terms of lyrical craftsmanship, the sheer songwriting, this album hits a new peak of professionalism. Sabrina, why don't you, uh, dance a little. Take the lyrics to Land of Confusion. In this song, Phil Collins addresses the problems of abusive political authority. In Too Deep is the most moving pop song of the 1980s, about monogamy and commitment. The song is extremely uplifting. Their lyrics are as positive and affirmative as anything I've heard in rock. Christy, get down on your knees so Sabrina can see your asshole. Phil Collins' solo career seems to be more commercial and therefore more satisfying, in a narrower way. Especially songs like In the Air Tonight and Against All Odds. Sabrina, don't just stare at it, eat it. But I also think Phil Collins works best within the confines of the group, than as a solo artist, and I stress the word artist. This is Sussudio, a great, great song, a personal favorite.
Sex is natural
Sex is good
Not everybody does it
But everybody should
Sex is natural
Sex is fun
Sex is best when it's one on one
Gabriel writes better artful music. Collins writes better pop music. I like both.
>Sex is best when it's one on one
Sex is a team sport.
...
HI THERE!
fucking brilliant video
.....this will be my testimony
I think I remember reading somewhere Peter Gabriel has this weird approach to songwriting where he sees musical ideas as colors. However it works it resulted in some great shit. But when he reunited with Genesis for a tour and they tried Turn It On, he couldn't figure it out at all because his brain didn't work that way.
While he's not on this list, he very well could have some form of synesthesia. It's not uncommon.

You have to have a very high IQ to enjoy 90s CGI without being disgusted. Its no wonder you weren't ready for it. For someone who has only seen Avatar or Avengers its like the difference between Picasso and Renoir.
I've learned to enjoy it for what it is.
youtube.com
somebody needs to put up the uncensored version
The incredibly shitty effects are what makes it good.
Sledgehammer is still the best music video of all time though, nothing matches up.
AND YOU MAY FIND YOURSELF
Me looking at this pic:
>wow Peter Gabriel aged into a Sting lookalike
>HOLY- WHAT THE FUCK IS THAT
>tfw you've become sven hoek
I think Phil Collins is the greatest musician of all time. I wouldn't waste my time saying it on Sup Forums, so I'll state it here.
he was so beautiful why would you off yourself...
he kills it live

Well this is the greatest rock video of all time definitely.
you can't enjoy music that is good and instead choose to think of it in labels such as adult pop that's sad as fuck
I intend to kill myself when Peter Gabriel dies. I don't want to live in a world where he's not.
with a sledgehammer?
They had so many great songs, and Peter Cox solo is damn near just as good. "Ain't Gonna Cry Again" is a superb "fuck off bitch" breakup song.
Bananarama were top 80's slags.
