Evangelion. I would not trust even Anno to do It.

Not only do I not trust anyone to make it, i haven't seen a Jap that can pull off the manly look of kiryu.

Oh boy, the 16 year old's are here again.

...

This could be pulled off by whoever made Wall-E

Otherwise known as Sup Forumseddit crossposters.

I would love to see RDR as a movie but in a way its completely unecessary. Shame we'll never see Day-Lewis as Dutch though.

What would you?

Superman for All Seasons

Pixar

Infinite Jest.

I don't think anyone could do it Justice.

Jerusalem Delivered by Tasso. My favorite poem. There are a least a dozen scenes of pure undiluted kino in there.
Needless to say I don't expect any good adaptation, both looking at what they made with Troy and the subject matter.
I just don't want to have any faggy "commentary" or any breach of sincerity in the whole movie, which is impossible to get, especially in a movie about crusaders falling in love with Saracen sorceresses in between crushing much more numerous muslim armies. Maybe Mel Gibson being given unlimited creative control?

No, but I could see a Pale King adaptation.

P O L I C E N A U T S

Don't give Jackson any ideas.

That would be a great videogame OP but this thread belongs here

Literally what is there to adapt? It's a history book, not a narrative.

He can't anyway, Christopher Tolkien is holding onto it like it's his Preciousssss.

>A thread about adaptation of source material into movies
>This topic belongs on a board dedicated to videogames

.....okay...

What's the point of adapting anime? It's already a very similar medium and format of storytelling. Other than seeing stuff in 3d cg for variety there's nothing else to be gained from adapting it.

policenauts is trash

Bungie's (pre 343i cock ups) Halo, specifically a BoB like series following ODST and Spartan deployments.

Thank Christ. He did good with LoTR but man the Hobbit was way too fucking long. Should've kept it to 2 movies at most. I don't understand how the Rankin and Bass animated film tells the whole story in 75 mins but Jackson needed 10 hours to tell the same story. Blows my mind.

...

it's actually a saga or 'lay' and has plenty of micro narratives like the children of hurin, Beren and Luthien, tale of Earendil etc.

Because he's a moneygrabbing cunt.

>MGS
>film adaptation
I like the game and the gameplay is very good, but it's already extremely cinematic. What do you even expect from a movie that you don't get replaying the game on easy mode? Also there are many videogamey fourth wall breaking and quips, which are ok in a medium where the player is active, but falls flat in a movie.

He was explicitly told to make three movies.

Did you not notice the part in the first one where Bilbo nearly falls off a little ledge, and Thorin pulls him back up and it turns into a 3D CGI roller coaster riding on two giant stone monsters fighting... THEN THAT scene ends with Bilbo nearly falling off a little ledge and Thorin pulls him back up and they run to safety?

Surprised you fags haven't posted THAT anime that never gets posted on Sup Forums but always shows up on Sup Forums and Sup Forums

Maybe, but he's also a fan of the Tolkien books. Maybe that was the problem. The studios want to milk it and him wanting to do it "justice".

Its because metal gear already is a movie with the hour long cutscenes and 15 minutes of gameplay

hope you die for even think about this

yeah, boku no pico film adaptation wud b p neat

...

I got this senpai.

We will turn it into a 6 film epic!

Dune. I trust Villeneuve, I just don't trust that it will actually be made after BR2049.

True, but I can easily see Pixar doing an adaptation of Roverandom

Hollywood would completely pollute and fuck it up beyond all comprehension.

Yes, exactly. If I dropped an American history book on your desk and said "can THIS be adapted into a movie?" Would your answer be "Yes, it's got lots of little stories in it."

Did I ask you if it could be subdivided into 30 or 40 movies, asshole?

Modern Warfare

They would never do it justice, would censor it and cut the best scenes.

Unironically Ace Attorney

russians should make it then

Didn't the japs make one already?

How is Crash not just a more retarded and even more childish version of Sonic?

I was totally with the story until John Marston's binoculars got shot while he was looking through them and he got knocked out. I've never been so taken out of a story before

...

Go to sleep Jackson

>He was explicitly told to make three movies.

What a cuck, I would have said no, and if they fired me I'd have pulled weta digital from the shoot as well, and any actors loyal to me would have quit too.

Enjoy making the hobbit without Gandalf

...

I might have trusted Ralph Bakshi to do this if he hadn't gone downhill.

Read these books growing up. I know Disney did that Black Cauldron movie, which is based on the first two books, but it really didn't do the series justice. Now I don't trust modern sjw ideals to not fuck it up or for the dark tones to be removed in favor of some cheesy happy childrens movie.

A 3-4 movie sci-fi epic about the Freespace 1&2 video games

Question: Is it possible to make a stealth movie? Like if they made Splinter Cell, which they said they were gonna with Tom Hardy.
They would obviously have him sneak around a bit then have big action scenes whenever he gets caught.
But could you theoretically make a movie with only stealth and almost no action? Would you then have to film some scenes from the perspective of the guards or what? I have no idea.

The Horus Heresy

well considering how the studio used Jew accounting and screwed Christopher over by claiming none of the LotR or Hobbit movies made a profit all power to him.

Reminds me of Dark Souls.

Yeah I reckon it would be possible, don't know about splinter cell but if we're talking about stealth games in general I can easily see an adaptation of Tenchu.
>no dialogue in the action scenes
>good tension-inducing soundtrack, no inception horns
>a lot of close calls, somewhat acrobatic but pragmatic
>plot unravels when the MC talks to the bosses
>big fights hong kong style with the bosses

This.

Cartoons to cartoons, movies to movies.

I think with a good director and enough planning. The entire thing would be about maintaining tension. The constant threat that Sam could get caught and kneecapped if he slips up.

You would need to force immersion. Otherwise we won't have enough tension.
Problem is, this type of movie will never ever receive the greenlight from a major studio, let alone a big budget.
It would also require Kubrick levels of directing autism because a misplaced light would ruin an entire scene.

Now that I think about it, Rififi has the greatest heist and the greatest stealth scene I've ever seen. The problem is though that it would be hard to have that sort of tension through out the movie. You almost gotta build up to it, for like a grand infiltration at the end or something.

not eve Mel Gibson is crazy enough for la gerusalemme liberata. You would need Herzog

Alasdair Reynolds' Inhibitor trilogy or Chasm City, though now that we have BR2049 I can live without Chasm City. I still think they should have done the Inhibitor trilogy instead of the Star Wars sequels. Also Starkiller Base is a ripoff of the Inhibitor weapon from Redemption Ark and I don't care what anyone says.

now that I would fucking watch

this one

I would like, would need to have a very strong cast though but plot would be a pain in the arse too boot.

MGS1 PSX version has a simple plot, entry level into the MGS universe so easier to explain in general while still having awesome characters.

Easy kids film, i think anyone could do it desu.

They already made it three times.

Imagine if someone got it right.

In vidya you can have tension from the get go and almost continuously because the player can lose at any point and restart. In a movie, you are more limited in this respect.

FUCK YESSS

Blood meridian (maybe PTA could pull it off)
Neuromancer (literally who)
Shackleton's Endurance expedition

The games were such a fucking letdown after the book. Second book itself wasn't very interesting, tried to be too deep. But it has enough content to make a second movie without much need to crop content.

I'm really afraid to give this to the jews.

How was the 1st book btw? Better than the game?

>entire thred is vidya

>Anno direct Japanese Evangelion movie
>nothing but fish-faced hammy Japanese acting
Why are they so good at the technical aspects of cinema and such garbage at acting and directing? This is why people only care about anime.

Directed by Takashi Miike of all people.

...

Ideally a mini series.

literally anything

film is cooking a steak by having people come in and out the room and breath on it until its cooked

this method makes it impsosbile to to adapt literature specifically as books are mostly written by the author and specific visions do not translate to the above

Blood Meridian. I know that one day some hack will fuck it up. I know that but I can't accept that.

unless CGI costs come way down, or it had a crazy high budget I don't see how pic related can ever be done correctly

>I could see a Pale King adaptation.

directed by bela tarr lol

I'm halfway through the book and I have no fucking clue how you'd adapt it. Or if people would even accept it. It has a ton of racist shit in it that the perpetually triggered will hate.

Legend of the Galatic Heroes

>Anime from 1996
>most Eva fags are in their late 20's or mid 30
>newfag cancer 16 year old anime fans don't like eva.

You are wrong on a few levels.

another user thought about a mini-series of GR with Chuck Jones-style animation which i really liked

Their totally different. The book is more of a psychological thriller and a journey through human beliefs and coping mechanisms. There's not a lot of action in the book. The videogame is an excellent if somewhat unfaithful adaptation. It stays true to the world and themes while changing enough to make the game good. If this was to be made it'd be best as a miniseries.

Already happened years ago, user.

wtf I love newfag cancer now

...

There was a thread a while ago how you'd adapt Blood Meridian and someone had the idea of setting it during a civil war in Africa in the latter part of the 20th century and having most of the characters be like former child soldiers and mercenaries who committed atrocities. I really enjoyed that idea.

This is what I'm sayin senpai. But who would play Horus?

The cuckold movie has been done are already.

...

those armours look goofy as fuck, I'll never get the fascination some people have with it

Obligatory Malazan

But this could be his redemption arc!
