Is this a good show? I heard that it was pretty well written. Does the show ever make any references to Highland or Beavis & Butt-Head themselves?

Even though this show isn't Mike Judge, I still consider it apart of the Judgeverse head-canon.

In before a bunch of people starting complaining that this is feminist propaganda.

So you've never seen it, are fully aware Mike Judge has nothing to do with it, yet still consider it part of your lame ass Judgeverse head-canon.

Go ahead and watch it. You deserve to suffer for your stupidity.

it's a good show, watch it.

Tumblreddit the show

Uhh, is this a positive review for the show or a negative?

>In before a bunch of people starting complaining that this is feminist propaganda.
It's definitely not that.
This.

It was a good show at the time but doesn't really hold up today imo. I'm pretty sure they make 0 references to B&B other than maybe referencing they moved. They never mention them by name at least.

None of those websites were even around when this show aired, dude.

He's implying you're going to suffer by watching it, what do you think, dumbass? Holy shit, you are a brainlet.

Yeah I was gonna say too before they existed but I got lazy to type

I thought there was an episode where she returns to her old house which is presumably the one she lived in at Highland.

If you want to experience the cynicism of the late 90's, watch it. If you want Mike Judge humor, don't watch it.

What if he enjoys the show? Sup Forums says it's very good and they tend to be experts on all things western animation.

can you elaborate? other than the black couple being smarter than the white couple.

Someone seems salty.

It's ok, the main character is basically an emo chick before emo was a thing. So whiny, "knows better than everyone else.", and has an air of smug superiority. The story's though aren't bad if your a fan of 90's era drama themes. It is very much a product of it's time.

I have the DVD box-set but mostly all the music is edited out. What is the best way to watch Daria in it's true-form? It's a pretty smart show and the actors (mostly) seem to be having fun doing the voices.

Sup Forums is full of man children that will infinity praise any cartoon that borders on adult themes/writing, simply to justify their passion for watching a medium meant for children.

misconception

Didn't see that one I guess. Whatever the case the show makes a fairly concerted effort to make it distinctly separate from the B&B universe/canon.

There's a restoration torrent out there with the original music. Not too hard to find

torrents

I think there's a brief, indirect reference to Bevis and Butthead in the pilot episode, but that's it.

Daria is my cartoon waifu!

it's the best way, with the original music, really cool soundtrack.

download the original version. it's better with the music.

yes, not really besides leaving highland in pilot

well she is from his cartoons, but it doesn't cross over at all after she left highland

it was perfect for it's time, i can appreciate daria more now knowing she's the protagonist but just as flawed as the rest of the cast in every way. as opposed to when i saw it as a kid and thought yeah daria is right about everything.

it was a great cartoon when it came out and i was late middleschool early highschool. i dont know how well it is now though, but you should give it a chance

more like diarrhea eheheheheh

Look I don't know about Daria or Sup Forums, but the only thing Sup Forums knows about is wasting dozens of hours looking for porn out of cartoons. Please don't watch anything because Sup Forums says you should.

>Daria is my cartoon waifu!

your waifu has a penis.

Daria was prime emo/goth/scenefu and so ahead of the game.
I lost my virginity to a daria-like girl who liked Daria

if you watched it growing up I recommend not re watching as it will sully the memories.

Daria doesn't age well. It was in-line with 90's teen mentality, which doesn't really carry on past the 90's.

Gen X ennui, sarcasm and liberal platitudes. It really didn't age well

Her friend with the black hair has the voice of a 45 year old fat lesbian

>I lost my virginity to a daria-like girl who liked Daria

im jealous desu.

This show only appeals to people in their mid 20s. You would not get the jokes because of the references. It is actually a good show.

You're not you when you're hungry. Have a snickers

Again, if you didn't get that it was a negative review, you are retarded. Nothing changes this.

See If the medium is intended for children then why are there so many adult oriented cartoons?

Get back to before I find you in real life and hogtie you.

Yeah, but I never watched it. hehe

It's my favorite cartoon ever. It exposes how fake and superficial society is with satire. Basically makes fun of normies and politically correct culture. Absolutely hilarious. Watch it.

This would be the best feminist propaganda if it actually was. It would make girls value intellect/philosophy over sex appeal.

great anal y sis user

and I dont mean that in any sarcastic way neither

Feminists get made fun of in the show as well, just look at Daria's mom. It's a great show OP, definitely watch it. I don't understand the people saying it doesn't hold up, I've rewatched it recently and it was still great. The atmosphere is a bit similar to the first Clerks movie, just targeted at a slightly younger audience

Yup just watched an episode. So weird to see cartoons touching culture without centering around political doctrines....

Honestly for my money it's one of the best adult animated series. It's definitely a product of the late 90's, but it's still relatable today.

Daria is a misanthropic outcast who's obsessed with her perceived notions of the truth irrespective of the poltical mainstream or any moral standard. There's no way she'd be a feminist in today's world. Sick sad world was basically Sup Forums in television form so...y'know...connect the dots.

The Critic is even funnier now
Is Daria really that bad? I never watched it as a kid since it starred a girl, but I'm currently finishing Duckman and it's pretty great.

Daria was the Rick and Morty of its day. It was an okay show, but the fanbase that it attracts missed the message entirely - where the clear theme is that being very intelligent is alienating and not something that should be desired, and that one should have some level of groundedness in reality to live a happy life, their fanbases have taken this to mean 'I'M A SPECIAL SNOWFLAKE JUST LIKE RICK/DARIA WUBA LUBBA DUB DUB'.

Sick sad world is more like Vice - a garbage form of media that concentrates on bizarre topics just for views

Daria is an angsty millennial teen who is obsessed with her conception of herself being more than her peers but never realizes she's exactly the same as all of the other people in the show.

No it's angsty SJW garbage. Just watch beevis and butthead it's 100x better

Yes she does, that was the whole point of 'Through a Lens Darkly'.

It showcases the sad state that Sup Forums is in that this show gets more attention than beevis and butthead. I want Sup Forumsmblr to go

I don't agree on that being the theme. Daria is not that smart, it's just that she thinks she's smart because it justifies her being an outcast, which is not true. The guy she ends up dating, Tom, is just as smart as her if not more, but he's a lot more well adjusted.

Yeah because Tom is a foil to Daria; he is very intelligent but he is far more down to Earth and willing to socialise with people. It's played for laughs, but this is clearly seen when he, Jake and Jamie/Jeffy/Joey (whichever one he was) release the squirrel and go go-karting. He's the Chad of nerds; he's a regular smart guy.

This is why the cancerous tumblr fanbase hates him so much, btw. What they don't get is the concept of a 'foil'; his characterisation is intentional. Again, they missed the message; Daria is not a role model.

Vice takes itself FAR too seriously to be anything like sick sad world. I stand by my comparison.

Nah, you missed the message. The message is that ultimately everyone is flawed - even someone like Daria who tries her very hardest to stick to her own defined set of moral parameters. Tom was a snake masquerading as an "intellectual" in a beat out car when in reality he was just highly educated, self satisfied, and came from a rich background (which he does everything to cover up). And, lo and behold, when push comes to shove we see he sticks by his WASP herd at the expense of the protagonists. Tom is the ultimate fonny. He wasn't Daria's foil, he was Trent's. Trent may be a lot of things, but he is honest to a fault.

i liek the daria
