I don't follow any critics because I think it will dilute or influence my thoughts on a film, which often take weeks to form and process. I also find that there is little actual critical thought in such reviews, they simply reiterate the plot that I got from watching the movie so it seems a waste of time.
I'm curious, what is the regular viewing process for people who follow reviews? Do you watch them immediately after seeing a film? Do you look for added insights into the meaning of a film? Do you look for someone who can point out plot holes? Do you reserve having an opinion until hearing the opinions of others?
Genuinely curious, it seems like such a new and distinctly artificial subculture that I don't understand the 'rules' for.
