Do hardcore BR fans actually like this film? Do only newfags like it? Why did it tank at the boxoffice? (31 million for a 150 million film) Should it have been a seperate universe instead of BR?

Still haven't seen it.

>(31 million for a 150 million film)
(You)

Boxoffice opening was 31 mil. Still doing poorly, but if it's a good film I wish it the best.

Big BR fan from the 90s. Went to the secret cinema Blade Runner event in London, own multiple copies on multiple formats, went to the SDCC even....etc etc.

Film was great but it didn't capture the feeling and world of the first. and no matter how great the original was, its strongest point was world building and atmosphere. also the soundtrack was mediocre at best. but they didn't absolutely butcher it which i appreciate.

The music was great, the world felt different but still fitting?

But do you think they should have just left the BR label off of it, and just made a brand new sci-fi universe?

the music was not great. not by a long shot. listen to it in isolation. it's so flat and souless. it stank of hollywood. the only good track was mesa.

the world and atmosphere was not bad. and it did fit. but you don't really explore it in the film. you just kind of jump from location to location.

i would argue this whole thing would have been better off as a miniseries on netflix or something. they have a crazy budget and have been doing great things and give a lot of creative freedom.

i bet if netflix snapped up the rights and said "go for it" to dennis, it would have been better.

i think we need more of the blade runner world, but no necessarily more of the same. no more deckard, or k. make a decent show out of it.

>the music was not great. not by a long shot. listen to it in isolation. it's so flat and souless. it stank of hollywood.

Noooooooo! This is what I feared. You can't have medicrity in such a film. Too many overpaid pseudo-artists in the art world now.

I'll wait for the tor.

The best part of seeing the movie twice so far and planning a third viewing is reading posts like yours rambling on about not taking the time to see the flick and having no clue about what you are missing. For example, the soundtrack and sound effects are fucking fantastic. I don't need to tell you why because you are a plebe that wouldn't understand just like the faggot poster above. They are part of a theatre experience I have and you never will. Watching it the third time later thus week right before the movie starts I will spend a moment thinking of all the retards such as yourself who will wait for a shitty download to see the flick and in doing so ruin any chance of ever fully taking in the experience of BR 2049. In doing so my third viewing will be that much better as I will know for a fact multitudes of persons will forever wish they had gone to the theatre to see BR 2049 like I did but didn't because they dun fuckt up.

The soundtrack is merely OK. Certainly not Zimmer's best work, and nothing so memorable or beautiful as the original (Mesa is nice though, and the Wallace corporation music). A missed opportunity for sure, but didn't ruin the movie.

The soundtrack is fine and works in the context of the film and building an atmosphere that was true to the original. If you were expecting Hans Zimmer to create another Vangelis masterpiece then you were always going to be disappointed

So what does it mean if I loved Alien: Cov?

it's a 3 hour babby's first new testament + SJW bullshit

Literally cancer, do not watch

I value everyones opinion. Rogue One and TFA were so fucking bad that I have no hope for hyped movies.

>that domestic
Amerifats just can't into Kino

...

OP why don't you go see this masterpiece then you'd know the fucking answer.

you will like it if you loved Alien Covenant

>I loved Alien: Cov
It means you're retarded.

Thanks.

I have a question before this thread closes. I've been lurking and posting here for over a year, and I was wondering 'I am not a robot' verification is something that goes away over time or...

...do I get it because I'm being punished? Last week I didn't have to do it 1 time.

you dont have to do it for like the first 5-10 posts of a ~12 hour period, especially if the posts are long and unique and in different threads. Also you don't have to do it for the first 5-10 posts like that if you just signed in to a google account

>Still haven't seen it.
maybe you should before starting a shit thread

I thought it wasn't that bad but I did not have high hopes going in but this is what I figure the problem to be

>Kids these days can't sit still for 3 hrs without taking at least 1000 selfies
>It does not contain at least 1 explosion every 5 min
>10 quip/hr min
>If it involves their brains, its automatically stupid

only newfag reddit pussies like this shit.

BR fans stayed the hell away

Do you guys know a popular BR fan forum? I keep running into forums that are almost dead. Where are the fanboys at?

Thanks.

Cringe.

>the music was not great. not by a long shot. listen to it in isolation. it's so flat and souless. it stank of hollywood.
lol

Not really a fanboy of the original I just liked it.
Think the new one is better on every possible level

>this whole thing would have been better off as a miniseries on netflix

agreed. a nice, progressive series that comments on the shitlordery of our time would really suit blade runner

>The soundtrack is fine and works in the context of the film and building an atmosphere that was true to the original. If you were expecting Hans Zimmer to create another Vangelis masterpiece then you were always going to be disappointed

>Kids these days can't sit still for 3 hrs without taking at least 1000 selfies
I seriously don't get this meme. I took my 15 year old cousin (who is literally a diagnosed autist with a shit attention span) to see BR 2049 in imax and he enjoyed it the whole way through

I don't think it matters if you like the original or not, this was one of the best theater experience I've ever had. The sound/music/cinematography was 10/10. And I really liked the story, the only flaw was the script wasn't as tight as the rest of the movie.

To be honest. Yes, I kind of was. He's capable but phoned it in.

It's exaggeration. The babyboomers opened their mouths and it became a meme.

BR2049 has a much better story, characters, and visuals though

I'm a fan of the first movie and I liked it. It kept most of what made the first one good intact, if anything it pushed some of it to the breaking point. The only place where it unquestionably fell short of its predecessor was the soundtrack.

I loved Blade Runner and I loved 2049. Everything about it was done correctly. I saw it two more times to make sure it wasn't just a "hype high" and I enjoyed everything about it still. It just made the world of Blade Runner much richer.

because they only show Joi's giant pink pussy in the IMAX version, fucking morons

with the single exception of this guy, who was basically combined with deckard to come up with a better protagonist for the sequel

>soundtrack is mediocre at best

2049 improves on the original. If you seen the first you can enjoy this one. If you thought the first was a little boring but you enjoyed it for some reason, you'll enjoy 2049. If you didn't like the original, you might like 2049.

I enjoyed both, original is a 7 or a light 8. 2049 is a solid 9. Gf got bored in the first, loved 2049. Either way it's $5 Tuesday at Marcus theaters so not much to lose.

>Tfw missed my chance to go watch it in IMAX before it was taken out

>Do hardcore BR fans actually like this film
There's really no such thing as a hardcore BR fan.

>b-but its modern and has ryan gosling in it!
honestly the worst part about the film was Harrison ford and his stupid grey hanes t-shirt

Do yourself a favor and watch this in a good theater with quality sound system
I swear some of you just watched a camrip

b-but whats your point? my points still stand, dumbass

Harrison Ford actually didn't phone it in, which surprised me

my dad is a huge blade runner fan who saw the original when it came out and he loved 2049

Harrison Ford probably masturbates to scenes of himself in old Indiana Jones movies

A couple of things, Sup Forums
>How the fuck could Luv kill Lt. Joshi without any sort of problems from the police department
>That underling as well, nothing happened when she killed him
>Why would Wallace send only 2 cars to guard Luv and Deckard
>That line Luv said when she crushed the emulator was cheesy
>Why would Stelline risk her father being killed by Joe, the replicants, or the Wallace corporation just to try and unite with him?

No or people would call it a BR ripoff

I saw the original BR in the theater when i was 9.
2049 is an objectively better movie. Original was slightly prettier

>Luv kill Lt. Joshi without any sort of problems from the police department
>That underling as well, nothing happened when she killed him

Just because you don't see the problems doesn't mean they didn't happen. Luv implies she's never meant to kill the police commissioner but does it anyway. There were no big consequences for her because very little time passed , it's irrelevant to the story, and Wallace is pretty powerful as not to be bothered by local police. He will just say it's not her and that's it.

>Why would Wallace send only 2 cars to guard Luv and Deckard
It was a short routine flight to the offworld airport. He did not know there were rogue replicants planning anything , for all they left K to die and even if they didn't he was just a random cop who couldn't touch them legally.

The real reason is probably because the finale would look less tight and more silly with 10 car escort.

>Why would Stelline risk her father being killed by Joe, the replicants, or the Wallace corporation just to try and unite with him?

She was never trying to unite with him, she did not even know that she was special in any way.

Personally I blame the blue and orange posters

There are 7 corporate army cars arrive in Vegas. But only 3 leave and get to Wallace HQ. No idea what happened to other 4. I know K kills 3 people. Maybe the others got killed by booby traps

>She was never trying to unite with him, she did not even know that she was special in any way.
She placed her own memories in at least a few replicants for a reason, then lied to Joe when he confronts her about who's memories they are.
She may not have done it to unite with Deckard (I definitely don't think she did) but she definitely knows she's special.

She did it IN THE POLICE DEPARTMENT. A place that should both be filled with cameras and aware officers who notice when their lt. just got killed.

>She was never trying to unite with him, she did not even know that she was special in any way.
You didn't catch that she implanted Joe with her memories? Or was that just happenstance, like she had that memory knocking around and she used it on Joe just because? To me it seemed programmed in Joe to find the things he did.

>For a reason
>But not to unite with Deckard
That would literally be the only reason, why else would she?

Has it released in China yet? If it manages to get to 300 million by the end of its run that should be about break-even.

It's the opposite. If she knew she was special she would never have done something like that.

> then lied to Joe when he confronts her about who's memories they are
She doesn't exactly lie she says someone lived this but not that it was her. She mentions using real memories are illegal, so that's why she doesn't say it's her. She's afraid that she might be in trouble with the police and she feels guilty because she made K go mad by doing something she shouldn't have.

As to why she did it, the movie explanation is "every artist puts some of themselves in their work". So the most simple explanation is that she didn't see the harm in because the memory is so vague, the place could be anything and the chidlren are all bald and faceless.

it's in china as of this weekend, and it bombed there as well. chink plebs would much rather see Geostorm.

>She did it IN THE POLICE DEPARTMENT. A place that should both be filled with cameras and aware officers who notice when their lt. just got killed.

Did you see any cameras in the movie? There weren't any even in Wallace HQ. Just because it would be logical to have them doesn't mean they were at every step. Even if they were so what, she's basically untouchable. Luv was as capable and smart as any replicant could be, so breaking into a police station would be no big deal for her. I don't really get this complaint. There's a scene of Luv walking around the police station in some of the promotional material. It was probably cut

It was shit, op. The entire movie is predicated on the idea that it's "genius" genetic designer can't figure out how to produce replicants who can bear children.

Keep in mind in this world he can design something as impossibly intricate as a human mind. He also has design control over things like behavior and life span.

But (BUT!)!!!! He can't design something as simple as an egg and sperm and make it work.

There's so much more stupid shit in the movie but what's the point of discussing anything after that? There's no place to go but down from a premise that retarded.

It's a dumb movie written by hacks for dumb people. That's it.

Damn this post is embarrassing

>post apocalyptic world
>super advanced holograms
>flying cars
>security cameras? can't figure those out
Admit it user, it was a dumb oversight. All they had to do was have Luv kill her in a location besides the police department.
>basically untouchable
You can kill a replicant with a bullet to the head. It's an oversight.

>security cameras? can't figure those out
Did you miss the part where no one in the movie had a cell phone and they were still using payphones? The USSR still exists. This is not THE FUTURE. It's 30 years after the original blade runner, and even that was retro future for the 80s. Just because something makes sense to you like corporate mass surveillance doesn't mean that it's part of the movie.

> All they had to do was have Luv kill her in a location besides the police department.
The end game of that scene was for her to use the police console to find K since he broke the emanator antenna.

>You can kill a replicant with a bullet to the head.
I meant as arresting her and bringing her in as a suspect.

Nice shitpost, asshole.

Buseriously though it doesn't make any sense, my man. He literally has to "grow" and "birth" replicants or he wouldn't have a business making replicants.

So in other words he has the technical ability to do do all the things the movie says are "impossible miracles" (a.k.a. THE ASSPULLâ„¢). The idea that he can't design a process he has full control and understanding of into one of his replicants is fucking retarded.

Idiot shit for idiot people.

You just keep embarrassing yourself further

I didn't catch the payphone scene, are you sure that wasn't in the original? I haven't seen it

>Walking holograms
>No cell phones

>End game
yeah, they could have also had her break in after killing, too

>bringing her in as a suspect
No, I meant the brawl that should have ensued right after she killed the lt. in her own office right in front of everyone, which is logically what should have happened.

>I didn't catch the payphone scene, are you sure that wasn't in the original? I haven't seen it

There's a very brief apperance when he walks in the police station, people are using the payphones.

>in her own office right in front of everyone, which is logically what should have happened.

In front of who exactly? She walks in and the lights are off. She turns on the lights. That must mean it's very late .

Ha ha haa.

He also has control over the speed at which the replicants grow, hence the fully grown models ready to be put into whatever off-world job they were designed for when they're "born".

But he couldn't design a child, right? Bullshit, obviously he could. But he couldn't design a baby, right? Bullshit. An embryo? An egg? Sperm? Ha ha haa, you're starting to see how this works, right?

The movie is this fucking dumb.

christ...

Bad sequel, great movie.

Something like that. I was definitely suffering for somebody's sins while I watched this shitfest anyway.

not him but i think your so witty you should type something else to show us how witty you are cus your witty

>i think
That's highly in doubt.

Right the movie jumps from backdrop to backdrop and nothing really connects it all together to actually feel like world building

Why is it that retards who can't pay attention are always the loudest and think they're the smartest. I'm getting second hand cringe here. It's explained in the opening texts, and the Wallace himself has an expository unnecessary monologue, yet you still can't keep up?

He's not the genetic genius designer. Wallace is an industrialist/capitalist. Tyrel was the genius. His moto was "more human than human". He created Rachel, the only prototype who was able to have children. In the first movie he gets killed by his creation, then an EMP bomb wipes away almost all the related data. Wallace can't recreate what Tyrel did, but perhaps he can reverse engineer it.

His goal isn't to create a replicant child. His goal is exponential growth of replicants so humanity can colonize a lot more worlds and expand

The lighting and values are all muddy and washed out.

>But he couldn't design a child, right? Bullshit, obviously he could. But he couldn't design a baby, right? Bullshit. An embryo? An egg? Sperm? Ha ha haa, you're starting to see how this works, right?
Tyrell could, he was the only one who knew how

the fact that all those different environments are all part of the same world is world-building in itself

>loudest
How is he the loudest, it's a comment on the Internet. The fact that you give more power to these sort of comments shows an insecurity in your own opinions

Doesn't bring anything new to the table, other than the A.I. shenanigans that were wasted potential and, other than K, the characters lacked depth. It looks great, but doesn't compare to it's predecessor.

Am I the only one who thought this was a better sequel than a bunch of classics including Godfather 2?
Sure the first one is a great movie. But the original cut is garbage and I think it's fair to say the 2007 cut should be considered 'canon.'
But you could watch any cut of the original blade runner and it works with BR2049.
And BR2049 also keeps most of the important shit ambiguous for the sake of the themes from the original movie.
And the score was great. If you were expecting Vangelis you should have lowered your fucking expectations.

It doesn't really work that way, yes it's in the same world we know that.

Wrong, idiots.

See the shorts, Wallace was able to change the laws about replicants being on Earth because he was able to design more controllable models.

He was *literally* a better genetic designer than Tryell was.

Dumb movie.

Holy shit. Congratulations, you found a couple of plotholes. Why don't you fucking work at CinemaCins

*CinemaSins

...

Stop samefagging. Your posts reek of idiocy and "Im too smart' reddit quipping.

>He was *literally* a better genetic designer than Tryell was.

How are you this fucking stupid? Being able to put in more failsafes makes him better at it than the guy who designed the entire thing?

Tyrells moto was more human than human. Unlike Wallace he didn't want billions of disposable drones, he wanted to play god and create humans. After he was dead violent rebellions started and it became prohibited. That means his succecors didn't know what they were doing.

You can also see that Wallace's failsafes didn't work, as K broke down, Luv was breaking down, and there was an entire network of "woke replicants". Pay fucking attention next time

I'm not that guy, and I'm still right. The fact that you seem riled up from this guy's lame arguments proves as much

>He was *literally* a better genetic designer than Tryell was.

This is like saying that someone who added a few if clauses to a million lines of code program is the better programmer

omg more wit please. wooooow. wow. wow.

So now we are assuming how designing replicants work

I suppose I can't answer this question because I'm not a "hardcore BR fan". I do like it a lot, but it's not necessarily one of my favorite movies. I think BR2049 tanked because it wasn't marketed well enough. The trailer was bad and my assumption when I heard about the film was that it would be a cynical cash-in on the original. I only went to see it out of an obligation to a friend.

>Tyrell was able to design a replicant who could have children
>Wallace was a better genetic designer than Tyrell was
>so much so the the laws were changed on Earth about replicants because Wallace's models were demonstrated to be safe when Tyrells weren't

lol, but Wallace couldn't figure out how to create an replicant who could have a baby like Tyrell did? But he did manage to figure out how to put on failsafes when Tyrrell couldn't figure it out?

What a dumb fucking movie.

Only if you keep begging like that ;^)

It should have been marketed more like ex Machina, did that movie do well?

>Wallace was a better genetic designer than Tyrell was
But he's not. The movie cannot make it more obvious that he's not. He didn't create anything new, he bought a corporation and revivified the technology. All of this is in the movie, laid out for you word for word.
