Movies you watched with your dad thread

>Movies you watched with your dad thread

my parents hated all types of fiction and only watched the news and star search

>20,000 Leagues Under the Sea
>The Island at the Top of the World
>Excalibur
>Conan the Barbarian

Sometimes he'd smoke a bunch of weed and pop in Heavy Metal if my mom was out of town. Thanks dad.

My dad is a fucking pleb who likes jack and jill fucking faggot

Damn that fucking sucks. Rape your dad.

If there was the trashiest piece of shit on the video rental store shelves, my dad rented it and I saw it.
All the crappy exploitation and borderline creepy porn stuff. Mainstream trash would have been a step up.
All that stuff turned up on "cult" shelves later on. But that was just the pretentious "grindhouse" rebranding of that crap.
I don't think my dad was even really into them, he just had zero preference or ability to discern a good movie from a bad one, and just picked from the covers I think.

"Boobs, guns, explosions? I like all those things! Rented!"

My dad really liked TRON

I can dig that but I can understand how that can also be fucking annoying too.

I just realized how few movies I've actually watched with my dad. I bet he would like some other Coen brothers kinos.

>The OT of Star Wars
>Gladiator
>Some westerns I didn't like
>Jesus Christ Superstar
>Spy Kids
>The green mile

Those are all I can remember

Sometimes I talk about the movies I've watched at the dinner table and he almost always has seen them and laughs at the stuff I bring up when they're comedies. We watched Caddyshack at the family beach house more than a couple of times so I know it's one of his favs too.

My dad would watch any sort of war movie but he really liked Apocalypse Now and Platoon. I appreciate now that he liked those two in particular.

and although I can't remember if he really liked this or not I watched it like three different times on a road trip with him when I was a kid because I liked it so much so I'll always associate this with him

Never knew my dad but I would watch westerns with my grandma. This was her favourite. She loved westerns.

Also Narcos but that's not a movie.

Star Wars
Fargo
Reservoir Dogs
The Godfather

Also when I was 7 and my mom would leave for her graveyard shift, my dad would let me stay up and play DOOM with him in secret

various Kubrick films
various science fiction films
various westerns
various samurai films

This one brings back good feelies

Glad you turned out all right user!

Blue Velvet when I was like 16 and my sister was like 14

He quotes all of Bruce Lee's lines with a horrible engrish impression when he gets drunk.

I wish I remember...

I just got back from seeing Blade Runner 2049 with him. He hasn't seen the first one and I had to spend half an hour after the movie finished explaining the plot to him.

>Blues Brothers
>ghostbusters
>trading places
>american werewolf in london
>halloween

John Wayne movies
Clint Eastwood movies
We stumbled on the 1959 Journey to the Center of the Earth on night and that was great

Its a Mad Mad Mad World

One of the comedies I brought up over dinner was Little Shop of Horrors, the second I said the dentist song he just started cracking up. I wonder if he was a big Steve Martin fan growing up.

Looking back, I don't think I remember sitting down and watching a full movie with just my father. He liked Christmas Vacation I guess

and another was Being There, which was much funnier than any of the Pink Panther movies I grew up on.

Is that the version where Orpheus is played by a nigger? Is it the earliest example of Hollywood inserting black people where they don't belong?

Based technodad

pretty much every movie I saw on DVD till I was 18
