>what am I missing
A lot of jokes and cultural references

the best mainstream movie trilogy

The experience of reading the books without the imagery ruined by hollywood.

These are just your average blockbuster

pretty comfy series
good adaptation by hollywood standards

Literally the most critically and culturally celebrated high fantasy series ever put to film. No biggie, OP. It's not like you have missed out on a film phenomenon the quality of which we may not see again for decades or anything.

Agree with this.

There will never ever be anything like this ever again

last all white cast

...

A bunch of cool shit

The best adaption of a fantasy series ever produced for film

The scene where Galadriel goes takes a dump into a large white tub.

The closest thing to a perfect film series that we will ever get.

um try again sweetie ;)

We'll never see it again. All of the swords and armor will just be digitally added in for future fantasy series.

The real ancient history of (middle) Earth

Some really good movies.

Probably a Father

>all the props for LotR were made 3-4 years in advance
meanwhile
>they were manufacturing most props for the Hobbit on the day they were required for shooting
>most never even made it to set
>a lot of the actors are just waving giant green sticks around and their weapons are added in post

It's not a hollywood film you retard, it's wellywood

Read the books first, its nice to have a mental image of your own before seeing the film

Haha, Thorin has a laser sword. Okay, I understand why Orchist needs to glow blue at least, but still, it means they need to remap the entire metallic body of the sword back in instead of just adding a basic blue glow to what's already on film.

CGI hasn't made filmmakers and artists lazy, it's made them demented and pedantic and trying to solve issues that never existed in the first place.

the hobbit had an all white cast too. Infact one of the biggest differences between the two was Maori Lurtz being 10 times more badass than cgi Azog

Or just be a porno series disguised as fantasy like a certain popular tv show.

Azog's motion capture and voice actor was Maori as well

>"My friends, you bow to no one."

One of the few movies that can actually make me feel.

Magic, but it's too late for you, they could only be appreciated the most on release date

I think he'd be okay he dedicated each night to a film. But missing out on the frenzy of LotR is sad, the bookstore right beside the theater here used to have entire displays. I even have a bunch of the promo shit for the films. Reports were saying that sales of the books were up 1000% during the height of the movies, something that GoT will never do.

Good fantasy is timeless

GoT is closer to a soap opera than Lord of the Rings.
