I believe it's number one because it is perhaps the least offensive and divisive film ever made, by being profoundly uninteresting and pandering to sentimental bourgeoisie sensibilities. Only a very, very small subset of the population would recognize it for what it is and thus have a problem with it, those people also would not be anything beyond casual imdb users, i.e. using it to look up basic information.
