Costly - by which I mean they made "Siege of Kolberg" was shot in 1943/44 diverting between 50 and 100 000 troops from the front to shoot it - and even more civilians from the home front.

Weren't a bunch of people killed during the filming of Kolberg by friendly fire mortars and allied air raids?

Endlich normale Leute

Yea whatever its not like you seen a single one, or a movie before Hitler came to power. Googling movie names right now or searching this thread does not count as watching them by the way.

>Lola rennt
Was Berlin more or less of a shithole back then?

I've seen son 20-30 German films from 1920-1945.

It still is

it always was a shithole, its built on a swamp and its name literally means swamp

The Germans ruined Berlin which originally was a beautiful Slavic city.

Absolute Giganten and Soul Kitchen.

>Was Berlin more or less of a shithole back then?

It's getting worse by the day.

Alice in the cities
Coffee in Berlin

sorry, i forgot about around 30, so 80 here

>Das Leben der Anderen
This.

The wave (Die Welle) is a meme movie, students in Germany are forced to either watch the movie or read the book (in my case: both), as part of the pro-Jewish indoctrination

Lessons of Darkness

Axolotl Overkill
Der Himmel über Berlin
Stroszek
Kaspar Hauser

Wait I forgot what we were talking about, was it holocaust or some shit?

Du musst 18 sein um hier posten zu dürfen.

>Der Himmel über Berlin
I was dragged along to this film by a bunch of Berlin expat hipsters. They all hated it and were bored out of their minds but they begrudgingly pretended to enjoy it. They then proceeded to get drunk and stoned out of their minds and play around on their phones whilst googling film trivia about the film to post in their blogs and the totally awesome local cinema we went to.

actually i am at 90 now.

>Wait I forgot what we were talking about
i don't know

Im labyrinth des schweigens

It is a beautiful film. Kitschig but very beautiful.

>Der Himmel über Berlin
I liked the first 80% of the movie or so. The part in the library was magical. The "conversations" with the Columbo guy was nice. The Nick Cave performance, too.
I didn't like the ending tho, it was too easily resolved. And the lead actress was ugly as shit. Like you give up on eternal life for a shit looking girl, who does that lmao

Jud Süß is unironically kino. Watch it.

not technically german but it takes place in hamburg, it's about an undocumented migrant from chechnya with mysterious instructions, and a terrorism investigator who is fed up with simply nabbing low-level taliban errand-boys and wants to go after the bigger fish

what i really like about it is that it predates when the european migrant and islamic terror crisis started hitting the mainstream news, it's a reminder that there is a lot of shit going on in the world and the international media usually completely ignores it until it hits a boiling point

forgot pic

>Axolotl Overkill
