How do you think RTD felt watching the scene in Hell Bent and The Pilot where Clara and Bill both chew out The Doctor for trying to erase their memories.
Do you think he regrets the ending in Journeys End?
I've pondered that before, could work well.
Is this from Twin Peaks? What does it have to do with Doctor Who?
WHERE IS THE COSTUME REVEAL
RRREEEEEEE
Yeah, it's the Jumping Man from Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me. I think we have a /who/-/tpg/ crossthreadder who has just taken to posting it all the time.
If they do it like they did with Capaldi, it'll be mid-Winter.
>Do you think he regrets the ending in Journeys End?
Nope.
Reposting from last thread:
What do you think will be the next "big" mythology shift for the show, now that Gallifrey is saved?
>a small version of reality bomb really kills the current universe but Doctor travelled to parallel world where everything is the same except it's clean state
Could it work?
He regrets cutting the scene where Ten gives Tentoo and Rose the chunk of TARDIS to grow their own, kek.
Jodie has to be caught filming something soon though
capaldi's the only doctor that had an official costume reveal prior to filming starting and that was probably because there was a big gap and they needed to keep interest alive
Doctor Who
There will be no "reveal" because Jodie will be wearing a thong and nothing else. Chibnall knows what he's doing. Also the show is now called Thong Who.
Too dark for a kids show tbqh desu
I just realised they brought back Skaro too. Man, nothing stays gone in this show.
I just hope CC starts bringing in new mythology.
I know it's stupid but I think the Vampire stuff could be cool if handled properly. Shit, Chibnall really is gonna have a clean slate, isn't he? He could lay the foundation for the next 10-15 years of lore/mythos.
Hm. I suppose you're right. Do we actually know when filming begins?
Don't torture me like this, user.
That would be terrible. Everything would have the sense of being hollow and not the same. The Doctor would be permanently adrift in a universe that didn't quite feel like home.
Sounds pretty lame desu. Mind you, the Pandorica stuff was basically that: a way to handwave away any continuity fluffs if you wanted.
I think he'd be intrigued by people building off his story choices the way he did to others in the past. I don't know what he'd personally think of the choice in a vacuum (possibly dislike it, maybe), but as a former showrunner of Who, I think he'd be pleased in a distant way by Moffat building off stuff from the show's past.
This is what I've assumed too.
I don't really like the idea, but I think a split regeneration might eventually happen
It's depressing isn't it
It's a good question. 2005-2013 had the Time War and the destruction of the Time Lords as the backstory for the Doctor, but the Capaldi era didn't have very much mythology of its own. S8-10 did more lorecrafting in the Doctor's ancient origins than anywhere else, like his relationship with the Master or the reason he fled Gallifrey.
he might be rebooting universe right now
scared yet?
I'm still confused by that opening from Ayslum. I was certain that Skaro was destroyed and it was re-introduced so casually.
I remember around 2011 reading theories about how the Silence could've gone on to become the new Time Lords, taking their place in the universe. Kinda gutted nothing like that ever happened, and 2013 just went "here, have the old stuff all back!"
Oh fuck I just realised...does this make the War of the Daleks explanation legit? NOOOOOOOOOOOO
I think by Asylum, we were meant to assume that enough time had passed since Remembrance that Skaro could have been reconstituted, rewritten, fucked up again, rebuilt again, restored to its original state, and left to fall into ruin countless times. But its general state post-Time War was as a burnt-out hellscape which is what we see in the opening.
Whereas for Magician/Witch they've explicitly refurbished it.
...
Skaro was resurrected literally within the first words of the TV Movie.
...
It's a huge shame. A better move would've been to just call the planet something else, have the giant Dalek statue, have it destroyed, and make it a casualty of the War. Leave 'Skaro' out of it. But alas, it feels like they wanted it to be Skaro cos viewers just know the significance of the word and they didn't really care about continuity.
This is a scene from Thin Ice, the third episode of Series 10 of the revived edition of the science-fiction show Doctor Who. As this is a Doctor Who general, the majority of people on here have already seen this episode, potentially multiple times.
my favorite scene of th season

Or it was at a time before its destruction 'in the far future' as seen in Remembrance

>now that Gallifrey is saved?
I always thought Gally was time locked,
so you could not time travel into gally past so easily and erase it, but neither showrunner undesrtood or cared about that
now it is in the end of the universe, along utopia
and ashildr
>points to self
MR. JACKPOTS
And in english?
>but neither showrunner undesrtood or cared about that
The first showrunner literally came up with the whole idea you are talking about, like he didn't understand it.
it preeceded from the classic series
Comment on this picture
genuinely hope there are no returning villains in series 11, and that it's the least fanwanky series ever
>split regeneration
what do you mean?
No, it didn't.
it's from the time monster
The time lock is not from the Time Monster, the name Gallifrey is.
dubs and s11 is the most fanwanky series of nuwho
Everytime he returned to Gallifrey, their time passed as much as his
like San Dimas time in BIll & Ted
>tfw Mark pretends to be gay just so he can grope women at parties
Nope. Gallifrey is from The Time Warrior.
Wrong good sir.
The concept of a Time Lock wasn't created until 2005.
Semantics. That isn't the Gallifrey time lock, that's a localised one. RTD created the time lock we're all meaning.
I'm always interested to see new showrunners first take on the Daleks. It generally dictates their attitude towards them for their run.
>time lock we're all meaning.
I was meaning the other one
>Victory of the Daleks
Oh. IT WAS A WARNING
Regenerating into more than one Doctor; having two Doctors active on the show. Meta10 flirted with it. I think eventually a writer will consider actually doing it and having two separate Doctors on the show at once. I don't really like the idea but it would be different.
>tfw hype for jodie and bradley
>tfw unhype for chibnall's writing
Oh fuck off you contrarian borefest
I thought that Nardie was going to be the Doctor, or the Master, or River
The "other one" was one around the Doctor and Master's TARDISes in one episode. You said "I always thought Gally was time locked,". A Gallifreyan time lock is from RTD, in New Who. But you literally admitted you were a troll a few threads back so I'm not surprised you're moving the goalposts here.
Here we see an overrated actress with absolutely no depth, as one-note as they come, who somehow believes their own hype enough to star in some of Britain's most popular shows, who has never acted in or created anything of merit and is a drain on every scene they're in, standing next to the thirteenth Doctor Jodie Whittaker.
...
I'm cautiously optimistic that he'll be a good showrunner and that running a show and writing a good episode require different strengths, but I'm also scared that he'll blow it.
...
a time lock whose concept was in my mind before 2005 and but I dont recall from exactly it came from
your mind.
How old are you?
It'll be something else loosely copied from stuff already done in the novels or audios.
If it were me I'd like to create lore around stuff that lives within the TARDIS. Rather than a periodic story where the Doctor has to face off with other Time Lords or go to Gallifrey, I'd have it so the Doctor has to occasionally enter the depths of the TARDIS and confront the strange, reality-bending forces sealed within. There could be all kinds. Gods, monsters, entire countries.
Remember Judy literally said they come to /who/ to troll
archive.4plebs.org
TMA/TWF was easily the best Dalek story under Moffat, and it wasn't even focused on the Daleks.
no I said, if you gimme drama, I will have fun with it
Yet people always shit on it because "MUH DAVROS EYES"
*breathes in*
>not having Judy filtered
We're not gonna talk about Judy, we're gonna leave her out of it.
I loved it, and don't really care too much about the eyes thing, but I think the bigger problem is that the Daleks just aren't a threat anymore. Remember when one Dalek was a threat to the entire planet? Now clara and missy can stand in a room full of them, and we know they're never in any real danger. I say give them a year off and bring them back in a really menacing way.
>I say give them a year off
Try five.
>DAVROS HAD HIS EYES CLOSED ALL ALONG
HAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAA
I think I just pissed myself laughing.
I mean, no matter how non-menacing they are in New Who, it will never compare to the literal comedy Daleks in The Chase.
>re. Remember when one Dalek was a threat to the entire planet
that was RTD exagerating, a bazooka could kill a Dalek since 1963
I unmuted them because sometimes Gallifrey_Immigrant or Kindanonymous reply to them while replying to other anons, sometimes me, as well, and I don't want to miss out on their posts. Fortunately most anons and trips don't ever reply to them (I get a laugh out of how obviously Neo and McGanon completely ignore them. Lymerence used to as well but he replied to them this thread for once). I might just go back to muting them though, from how this thread is going, and just occasionally miss out from one of GI or Kinda's posts.
I mean sure, it had its flaws, but the scene where Davros narrates their thoughts about killing was pure kino.
Not possible if you buy into the rights rumors.
they have to appear every year or they'll lose the license
the best you'll get is stuff like s6 and s10 where they cameo
You just caused Neo to implode.
I would honestly be alright with them just cameoing every year for 5 years. Provided they were decent cameos.
Fuck, lurking at the edges of a story in brief glimpses might do them some good!
Usually I wouldn't respond to stuff like that, but... wew lad
kek I wasn't gonna say anything since TheOther already said >if you buy into the rights rumors.
>if
Implying it's a matter of debate, which it is.
But reee there's literally no proof and it's not weird for the, like, third most iconic element of the show to get used every year. It's possible but nowhere near confirmed.
Lose the license then. Seriously, fuck the Daleks. They're just there to sell toys at this stage.
they sell toys
I love the idea of the Terry Nation estate trying to make their own shit with the Daleks after taking the rights off the BBC. It would be hilarious.
It almost happened. Multiple times.
But why shoehorn a Dalek into Wedding of River Song? Literally could've cut that and made zero difference. Same with the Waters of Mars cameo which felt a bit shoehorned in
and Big Finish did it too
I kinda want the BBC to tell the Nation estate to fuck off. They'd come back in a few years, after some alternative Dalek merchandise flops.
What about it seems shoehorned to you? It works in the context of the episode. For both episodes you list. I might be wrong but I think it's kind of a case of projecting the idea of the rights thing onto moments that work perfectly well in the episodes.
What I will give you is the 2016 minisode having the Daleks, I can understand the reasoning but that is amusingly consistent enough I can see it used as argument for the idea.
I thought that rumor got debunked by Moffat himself.
It has been, RTD denied it too, but it persists anyway.
