It was all the anons trying to force every FOTM into a strict monthly format that caused such a shit show. FOTMs stopped happening naturally, and people couldn't agree on who would be that month's waifu. That's why we had such a bad pile-up that one month, and FOTMs have declined ever since (though it didn't help that mods were deleting FOTM threads).
That's why I say they should be Flavors Of The Moment, not Month. Just let them happen as they happen, don't try to force them into a structure.
