It's been a year since STANLEYYYY

>it's been a year since STANLEYYYY

How do you feel his death was handled?
Based on the scene alone, not some of the dumb writing decisions made to Bill during Weirdmaggedon.

>no redemption whatsoever
>never really learned his lesson or had a chance to show regret for destroying his homeworld, just straight up erased forever
>Hirsch took a huge shit on his grave with the Cipher Hunt and pic related

Could not have been handled any worse.

The death scene itself was awesome so it was nice after the dumb decisions you mentioned.

Bill will be redeemed in the comics so that fangirls will have to buy the comics when Alex decides he wants more money.

I only saw Russians get triggered by that troll pic everyone else was too upset about the election to care.

Cipher Hunt was pretty fun but it's funny the cops had to come and confiscate Bill because of a property dispute or something and then ants ate his hat.

>Based on the scene alone
It was cool and clever.

You do realize that a redemption arc would single handedly ruin countless Bill rape pornography don't you. What would women who watch the show have to read?

That scene and the very final scene where the twins said their goodbyes and left on the bus were GOAT and the only two parts of Weirdmageddon that lived up to they hype. But even then you have to think of them in isolation considering Stan's sacrifice was nullified almost immediately afterwards.

Not every villain needs a redemption arc retard. Some men just want to watch the world burn, that's bill.

Not every villain needs to be redeemed or break down crying like a faggot.

A great scene, but the sacrifice would've been much more meaningful if Stan's memories didn't come back afterwards.

>Hirsch took a shit on his grave
>By organizing a treasure hunt which almost everyone except the jaded autists at Sup Forums had a blast with
>By not drawing him as an anime bishonen like in your fanfic

Funny

That would have been depressing had stan completely forget the entire show.

It was great, honestly I thought his screaming and pleading was some of Alex's best voice work.

Great, if Stan didn't get his fucking memory back in two seconds. Christ, that ruins the death in that it should make no sense that Bill is erased while Stan's memories aren't. But I'm guessing he was MEAN'T to not die anyway, since he said the prayer to axolotl or something, and in one of the books axolotl was a god that said Bill would come back in some form.

I don't agree with the redemption part, but I do agree with the destroying of his homeworld. They should of really had the second season be a character development season for everyone, especially Bill, and elaborated on more of his history and inner thoughts rather than just dumping everything into the third journal book.

I don't know about that, some of the ancillary things seem to have some complex elaborate backstory for Bill, did they need to bring that is? No but the back half of the finale Bill stuff really sucked except for the death scene and the Bill from the earlier episodes was a more interesting and fun character I thought, so maybe things would have been better if they had used it, he started out talking about this weird shit and there were all these conspiracies theories but at the end he was just a big dumb cartoon villain which is too bad, that's not why he got so popular

Some of the theories were ridiculously elaborate and stupid but I do wish Bill had had some idea what was going on, you could pull some chessmaster shit with a character we can see the future to an extent and knows a lot but instead Bill had no clue wtf he was doing and the threat menace level dropped way down once he was just sitting around doing nothing or flailing around because he kept fucking up, that was a let down I thought

Just take all of that in stride like Japan as far as they're concerned Bill still falls in love with Mabel which redeems him and is bishie and they go to the shrine to drink sake and have a big wedding. If a whole country can chuckle and move on you can too.

Amazing sacrifice ending that was ruined by Stan getting his memories back

I teared up like a bitch when I realized what he was doing but then did a complete 180 when they broke out the picture book

I'm glad that Stan recovered, but I wish it wasn't an instant fix.

I would have been happy if the kids left for home with Stan slowly getting better, like McGucket did. Mabel could have even left him her scrapbook as a present to help him on the road to recovery.

>Genocided an entire universe for being too boring
>Tries to do the same to another
>Deserves redemption

HMMMMMMMMMMMM

Now now I don't think he was going to genocide the second just make it funner. The first was to fuel his power level.

Maybe he killed his family and blew up his world by accident though we don't really know what happened there. Just that he feels bad about it.

>it should make no sense that Bill is erased while Stan's memories aren't
The cipher hunt implied that Bill is still alive in Stan's head, the clues seemed to be written by Bill and in the treasure chest was a file with Stan singing the song Bill sang in the last episode.
youtube.com/watch?v=RZLlk24mM8E

He mentioned he liberated it because it was too flat so it wasn't by accident.

Linkara please

You guys do know Bill Cipher is alive, right?

Anyone find that statue that showed uo after the credits of the final episode.
Last I heard shit got crazy with a whole widespread manhunt for it.

You missed it.

Truly the best of times.

True he wanted to liberate it but maybe the destroying part was a mistake like when Time Baby says he might destroy the Universe by accident and he just ignores the warning

He could've gotten bits and pieces of his memories back. It didn't have to be the entire thing. Just enough to have his sacrifice actually mean something.

I learned from #CipherHunt that the fandoms in Russia and Japan are based AF while the fandom in America is FUCKING SHIT.

I learned that Alex overestimates the intelligence of his fans.

I learned that just about everyone fell for Alex's hype
Even Alex himself

Didn't whales from tumblr try to sabotage it because Sup Forums anons wanted to participate?

I haven't heard anything about that, but probably

Started with Stan and ended with Stan.

A parallel of a brother condemned by a god and the brother who ended that god.

During the puzzle arc we began to get impatient and a few anons toyed with the idea of stealing it to do it ourselves. Word got out and the people doing the puzzle got paranoid and refused to let people help unless they had a tumblr. Later a few people there had breakdowns and started talking about burning the puzzle.

>Don't Hug Me!! I'm Scared!!!!

There's no way in hell this was an incidental title.

I love the death scene even more because of the setup.

What comics?

Whatever happened with that stone statue thing everyone was looking for?

I particularly love how this scene was animated. It was really fluid, and the different forms Bill took were fun to look at

Why did tween fangirls even like him so much? Just because he's memey?

They like exotic, nonhuman character designs they can all reinterpret as the same rail-thin English guy in a suit.

I liked it. Undoing Stan's mind wipe so quickly undermined a lot of the weight, but the "We'll meet again" segment was great. Mostly because the song itself is pretty goddamned good.

Alex is supposedly developing a new show for Fox. What if the villain is Bill?

I mean, obviously they can't use the name and he would probably have to not look like a triangle with a top hat and limbs. But what if it's an extra dimensional lunatic with the same voice and personality and strongly hinting at being the same character but not quite saying it so the suits can't sue?

Failing that, what if they do above with a oneshot character in Rick and Morty? They already did one crossover/reference thing and Alex and Roiland are known buddies.

Why the fuck would they give Bill Cipher redemption? Don't you remember how popular a certain Bill-like character from a certain show that has its own board now was UP UNTIL the point of his redemption? After that, many fans went "ew hes not an edgelord anymoar so not kewl", and now a large part of his fanbase are people writing shitty Beauty And The Beast-style fanfictions about him falling in love with the character who redeemed him. Do you really want that for Bill?

>some of the dumb writing decisions made to Bill during Weirdmaggedon
Why do people say him falling for Pines' trick was dumb? This makes perfect sense. He had no access to Ford's mind, and he had no reason to check the mind of whom he believed to be Stan.

>you could pull some chessmaster shit with a character we can see the future to an extent and knows a lot
this is a Disney cartoon, they don't do this

What character is that

Discordandolineister from colourful hourses

>A different form a different time

Pretty much everyone took that as reincarnation, gotta be dead for reincarnation.

Exactly. Bill, for all his craftiness and chaotic nature, was arrogant as fuck and arrogance make you careless. Also, I found the way he was defeated very creative.

Loses its effect along with the rest of the finale when you realize it was just two hours of Hirsch raginga about his dad, high school principal, and other authority figures like his Disney bosses.

I dunno I liked the whole 'small frustrations that have built up over millennia' thing. A bit school shooter amped up.

Weekly reminder that Dipper is cute.
>tfw you try to make a Dipper thread but it gets deleted

It was found. Property-owner got mad and called to get the statue removed, some parts of it broke.

It got relocated but I'm not sure where.

>tfw you try to make a Dipper thread but it gets deleted
Why? What happened?

Probably thought we can't have too many gf threads and deleted it to make room for 'Mabel hate' thread#2556 and 'the same 50 Pacifica images' #492.

>the Rick and Morty crossover wasn't just a easter egg
>R&M Season 3 will have Bill come back in some form on the show

I can only dream.

I didn't stick with Gravity Falls; what happened here? Was he Grunkle Stan's childhood tulpa or something?

Nah but Stan killed him by tricking him into his head and wiping his brain. Bill was a flatlander who got genocide powers.

That's sad. :(

Stan gets better.

Probably too many Gravity Falls threads up at the same time.

I'd just like one positive thread discussing the male characters of Gravity Falls.

I'm okay with the ending. Alex subtly left a path for Bill to return on a last minute contingency plan. Like other anons pointed out, some villains want to watch the world burn. Bill is that villain. There is nothing redeeming to him.

The backwards curse he chants implies there will be another way for him to return. Seeing as how Stan got his memories back, that would be ONE way for that to happen down the road.

Could see it being a coming of age story.

>Could see it being a coming of age story.
billion year old man child finally grows up and has to fill out forms for taxes and stuff

The thing about Stan's sacrifice is that character development is put before the story. What matters in this context is that the character did this intentionally and was fully ready to embrace his grim fate, to sacrifice themseves, not what actually happened latter under the circumstances independent of the character. It's quite a common trope for modern and postmodern works (GF obviously falls into the latter), one that Disney themselves, and, many products similar to GF (like Undertale) used on various occasions. In fact, it's used in most good stories, but for the villains: if people like a villain, it's not because they lose at the end, but for what their mannerisms, intentions and characters are.

Tho that still doesn't excuse the execution, which could've been a bit better, with Stan regaining his memory slowly.

pump

Bill is confident Gravity Falls fangirls could pretend that he was their rapey boyfriend or draw him molesting Dipper.

Who really likes Bill is Russian chicks and Asian girls he is fucking huge there. That says a lot by itself when you think of those cultures.

Magic bondage chains.

>now a large part of his fanbase are people writing shitty Beauty And The Beast-style fanfictions about him falling in love with the character who redeemed him.

A large part of Bill's fanbase is already that but an arc like colorful horses villain arc would destroy the other half of Bill's fanbase which is people writing hardcore Billdip noncon with a billion fetishes. An edgelord character can be redeemed in individual fanfiction but a redeemed character can't tentacle rape Dipper until he mindbreaks after turning him into a girl with magic you can't ever go back from that. The fetish and guro market for this character will dry up. It would be a disaster to the International Bill Cipher Pornography community.

The only compromise I see here is making the masochistic traits outweigh the sadistic ones so he isn't hurting others but the guro fanbase stays.

In the most awesome way possible.

Great animation. People should see Dara Terrace as an amazing animator/artist despite of her SJWness

>What comics?

Alex asked if fans wanted comics and what they wanted the comics to be about and then he asked if anyone knew artists that could draw comics...

Though it sounds like the comics will probably be about the Stans on their boat.

Well there's nothing so far suggesting the content of the comics only that there might be comics.

Still makes me laugh those appeared in risque fanart first.

true that's just what most people were asking for on twitter, the Stan 'O War

That or Bill backstory

>that time when shit from yaoi fan art ended up on the show

why

because by the end of it I think they'd come to terms with people being attracted to the triangle and rolled with it.
